I WORKED FOR A AMC, JEEP DEALER IN HIGH SCHOOL AS AN APPRENTICE. WE HAD A SHIT LOAD OF GT500'S ALONG THE STREET IN FRONT (OWNED BY A FORD DEALER.) AND THEY COULDN'T GIVE THEM AWAY. NOW LOOK WHAT THEY'RE WORTH! I BECAME THE SOFT TOP INSTAL GURU AFTER EVERYONE IN THE SHOP FUCKED ONE UP. I FIGURED OUT THAT THE TRICK WAS TO DRILL AND INSTALL THE SNAPS, SNAP IT IN PLACE WITH THE BOWS COLLAPSED AND USE A HEAT GUN OR TURN UP THE HEATER FULL BLAST AND SLOWLY EXTEND THE BOWS UNTIL THEY SNAPPED IN PLACE AD THE TOP STRETCHED AND RELAXED. MADE THEM REALLY TIGHT WITH NO FLAPPING IN THE WIND. I DID NOT WANT TO BE TOP GUY SO I WENT TO A DIFFERENT DEALERSHIP. I DID NOT PERSUE A CAREER IN UPHOLSTERY. SHOULD HAVE BOUGHR A GT500 THOUGH. THAT WOULD HAVE PAID OFF DOWN THE ROAD. I DID HOWEVER TEST THE QUADRITRAC IN A CHEROKEE ON AN ICED OVER HILL AND EVEN THOUGH IT KEPT TRANSFERRING THE DRIVE TO DIFFERENT WHEELS, IT CLAWED IT WAY UP A HILL THAT PEOPLE WITH CHAINS ON COULDN'T GET UP. IMPRESSIVE!

I remember the days when y'all did the DED for old jeeps. Good to see y'all back together and still rescuing old jeeps.

I had the same engine in my 67 4dr Buick Special. The chatter or slap noise turned out to be a cracked flywheel for me due to the excessive vibration issues.

I love this kind of content. I’ve done this kind of thing myself a few times over the years. Couple times with my then 80 year old grandfather. The adventure of it is so much fun. Thank you for this channel.

Sir. Thank you for taking the time you do to show the world these amazing old part store, old dealerships, and just American automotive things. You and the group of people you surround yourself with are truly the treasure we need. You and your road trip friends provide views 90 percent of the people don’t see.

First off awesome I'm so glad that you did your own channel that's cool second if you noticed how Jeeps are nowadays back in the day a jeep was for 4:40 delivering the mail trail riding all that stuff basically getting muddy having a good time nowadays they have jacks and hatchets and winches and big tires on tiny axles beadlocks for going over speed bumps when they go through communities or apartment complexes Jeeps are from Mall crawling now there's no such thing as cool Jeeps 4 x 4 and they're all made up of the catalog that came from Chrysler with all the parts and trinkets that you can possibly put on them and they don't go 4 by 4 in at all I just can't stand how the jeep has turned out or should I say how the people who purchased them make them out to be now

Needs wires. They’re breaking down with heat at higher rpm’s demand

Strange that new wires didn’t fix that

I have both of those Baldors in my shop. The smaller one has diamond wheels on it for forming tips on carbide fly cutter tools. The bucket on the top of it was for cooling down the tools as you form them.

I’ve watched a fair amount of roadkill and stuff but I’m curious everyone else opinion. Do you think David is a “real” car guy or do you think his an info guys with tv shows? I mean this with no disrespect

I've been magazine reader following along with Rick, you and eventually Fred for almost 30 years. This episode embodies all the things I used beg for in an article and I got to spend an hour watching not 5 minutes. Great content and I hope we get more of the same.

@TheDavidFreiburger10 сағат бұрын
Nope
@skeeterbuilt19 сағат бұрын
Have you ever reached out to the guy that originally owned it? That would make a good video of him seeing what became of his car.

I don’t know how I’d ever find him. It never crossed my mind to do that.

So sad to see what used to be the American dream people my age (21) will never experience of small town mom and pop stores, that met there demise by big retailers. my family had multiple auto repair business in la I have business licenses dating back to 1917 and was told there was older ones that weren’t readable. Thanks for the content

Ya know ... a weeping valve cover gasket cause you reused the old gasket won't kill an engine, jus' sayin'.

I love this kind of show, please do more. By the way, check and see if the cam is flat, and the lifters are sticking in their bores. Those engines did not have a great oiling system, from what I recall back in my younger days.

After setting it has an intake stuck partially open. Had a 71 Bronco that had an exhaust valve stuck, we drove it that way. One day it popped a couple times and ran fine until I sold it several years later. Selling was a big mistake. <><Duce

You can laugh at that Nissan with the humongous Wing as much as you want that thing was moving every time it was on the track and he still held back each time
