Lumix G7 or this camera? I'm confused about which one to buy for videography, I want the Lumix G7 but I heard the AF is really bad, does this camera have better video and AF quality than the Lumix G7?

Both cameras don't have good AF on video. In fact, only the newer MFT cameras have reliable a reliable AF on video. If you want reliable AF, go for a Canon recent mirrorless camera. If you still want a MFT one, In the same budget, I would pick the G80 (or G85), since it comes with IBIS and has 4K video quality same as the G7. All the best!

I use the Tamron 18 - 300 on my XH1 and no focussing issues. It can be the lens being the weakpoint, the other lense I use is the 16 - 55 2.8 which is made for it, again no issues. I love my XH1 because of the silent mechanical shutter. Had it since 2018 and bought with the battery pack for ........£1200! Just after they launched the XT3!

If it was about 150 bucks with a lens, I'd buy it. But for $300 on ebay with no lens... without IBIS... that missing feature is kind of a deal killer. I'm like come on camera industry, how hard is it to make a 1080p 30fps camera with stabilization at a low price that every YT content creator wants? That's literally all it has to do, but do it well, at dirt cheap street price.

It is a camera from 2016 that has held its price over the years (unfortunately). There weren’t too many cameras with IBIS back then; nonetheless, a cheap Canon camera with IBIS would be great, I understand your needs. I guess we’ll have to wait for that good-inexpensive camera, as the Canon R7 is way too expensive. Until then, we’ll have to make the best of what we’ve got.

They newer ones seem to have a better dynamic range for post-processing than the canon. I could be wrong, and I'm spiraling. I'll just end up getting frustrated with my information gathering and pick one based on something stupid in the end or the price

I would also like a G9 or a GH5. I was constantly checking prices for these two cameras on the used market. Then I noticed that I don't actually need 4K video, thanks to my video editing software, DaVinci Resolve, which can nicely upscale Full HD videos to 4K. So, for me at least, the good and sharp Full HD video of the G90 is sufficient. I only switch to 4K video recording from time to time.

I liked my M50 a lot, it was my light camera next to my 5Ds and R5 but sold it because 1. They never made an M5II (viewfinder), 2. I think 32Mpix on APS-C is a waste of data and it renders most great full frame lenses average, 3. I couldn't justify having so many lenses with different mounts (and adapters). So I got an R10 and sold my beloved tiny lenses (23 f2!). The R10 might be a better overall camera but not much better for photography at all and I miss the form factor (and the 23mm lens!!). The M6II didn't fit the bill either but with a viewfinder and 2 dials I would have bought it to replace my M50 in the blink of an eye.

I guess we all want an inexpensive camera with great features, but this can be difficult since great features usually come with a higher price tag. However, I think a good job can be done with a used Canon 80D. If you can raise your budget a bit, consider the Canon R50-an excellent little camera with great features. Just get the EF to EOS R adapter for it, which gives access to all Canon DSLR lenses and that's it. This last option comes with no compromises for its price.

continuous auto-focus turned me off from fuji, i started my fuji's fanboy path with XH1, then quickly switched to XPro3 (then i bought and sell both multiple time with all the X100 and XE series in between), i loved XPro3 a lot, and it was okay while i shoot in single AF or in manual modes, but once i become a father of toddler it showed it flaws... unfortunately... so i tried leica SL2S and even it was almost destroyed by every single photographer because its AF - i switched to it, because even this' camera AF was waaaaaaay ahead of any fuji's camera i used prior, but i miss fuji's SOOC jpegs a lot

I have had many Fuji cameras and from the X series I have owned (or still own) Xe1, XT100, XT1, XT2, XT20 and now use two XH1s. I don't seem to have experienced any focussing issues, but I never have the need to use tracking. I also have two battery grips, so if battery life will be an issue I fix one on the camera. Made in Japan, the cameras in 2024 are still giving amazing results at less cost than the XH2 etc. Both bodies cost me less than one secondhand X100V. For sure there will be better, more modern cameras, with more bells and whistles - but not at the price of a good XH1

Is OM Systems going to upgrade this camera and give it the OM1 and OM5 treatment or phase it out?
@cameraexplorations
@cameraexplorations Ай бұрын
OM System has the answer to that, probably. The E-M10 Mark IV has some upgrades, when compared to the Mark III, but we must remember that all camera manufacturers implement "intentional limitations" on their lower-end models - a practice known as market segmentation. Nonetheless, even entry-level models are becoming quite potent over time. For example, look at Canon with their R50, which is a significant step up from the M50. Most likely, OM System will release a great E-M10 Mark V, but "intentional limitations" due to market segmentation will always be present across all camera brands.

It's a brilliant camera with so many features that other cameras dont have. There's no need to use high ISO with such a good IBIS system and if you need bokeh it can easily be achieved with right lens. A lot of folk comment adversely about the G90, just copying what other people have said or taken from a poorly informed review. If you kniw about cameras then you'll know as you do that this is a great camera for the money. I have a Z50, a D5600 and A6400. They're all good cameras and capable of excellent results. I had a nikon 'bridge' camera, that I was getting by with. When I found 80d for just a slight bit more than the most basic intro kits, I couldn't believe it. I didn't totally understand what a gem I was getting at the time, as a step up from the bottom line level canons/ nikons, but all i read, such as covered in this video, convinced me it was definitely better than the bottom level basic kits. I'm still learning to use everything on it, going through several lesson books. I found the microphone amazing great too. I joined virtual international choirs during the pandemic, & I got awesome sound quality with the camera across the room. 3:40 thank you.. that’s the info I needed.. another.. in the lowest quality setting, how long can you record with the max capacity micro SD? A used $150 Canon G20 became my most used camera for a tenth of the price of my other camera/lens’ set ups. It worked so great I’m considering the G70 however, I don’t need the quality of the video to be good (I focus on audio so all I need is an input) more quality means larger files. The G70 is the same size as the G20.. but the V10 has a wide angle (that I need to place the camera closer to us so ppl don’t trip on the audio/power cable) but I’m concerned for the low light capability vs the G70. Low light capabilities is the only thing that has me wanting to get an upgrade.
@cameraexplorations

Correction: I made a new video about the V10 on this channel. The recording limit is 1 hour in Full HD, so after 60 minutes, the recording will automatically stop. The low-light capability of the V10 is quite poor since it has an f/2.8 aperture on a one-inch sensor. In full-frame terms, this translates to something a bit darker than f/5.6 in low light, which is not great.

On the 80D, I haven't noticed the "soft focusing issue" seen in the 90D. Some people say the 90D has that problem, while others don't experience it. I believe it might be related to the large 32.5MP sensor, which is more demanding on any lens. There is a video on KZbin about it called "Canon's 90D (M6ii) Soft Focus Issue". I don't have more information on this topic. Regardless of which camera you choose, it would be great if you could return it after a few days of testing to ensure everything is working properly, just to be 100% sure all is good.
