For you and your raw honesty... I am with you and feel you with everything you said. You are your most authentic self TO YOU. And honestly, that's all that matters, even if you have to find your way through "trying on" different ways of being an "ilokano millenial". (I would love to hear what exactly that means and looks like!) I also cannot speak our Mother Language, but I believe that doesn't make me any less authentic. I think it just makes me "real" to my time and place in the history of our people. Keep walking with your head held high. I see you. And I am honored to walk with you. 💞

Interesting this came up because by default I was raised catholic but never practiced and lately I’ve been wanting to connect spiritually, bit just because I’m Pinoy but because I have needed something to ground me lately because of all the noise in my head about the world. So thanks for sharing!

@kuyacraig I hear you and I see you. This journey of rediscovering our Philippine heritage has been sort of like my church lately. All spiritual without the religious structure. The learning is the practice. And I get how important it is to feel grounded in today’s world. I wish for you a path that shows you the way to your sense of grounding. ✨

being Jewish these days is very ambiguous. the true meaning of being Jewish is one who is a follower of Judaism...a religion. it's not about ethnicity. but people are making it like a race of people. Askinazi and Sephardic are all Europeans people who were converted to Judaism. the true people who have the bloodline of the biblical people like Abraham and Jesus Christ are found among the Palestinians, syrians, Lebanese and other middle eastern people of today. if you are looking for true Jewish ethnicity go to Palestine NOT in today's Israel because they are FAKE JEWS who are mostly migrants from eastern europe.😊😊😊

I appreciate and understand your sentiment. While I believe there is so much more for me to learn and discover about the Ashkenazi Jews, I will still proudly honor my 0.2% of this part of my DNA.

@@TESZMillanyou’re still wrong - you’re not like us, sorry
@TESZMillan24 күн бұрын
@@TheHistoryEcho I never said I was like anyone. I am only claiming the small part of me that is of the same DNA pool and relating that to my pride and appreciation of the culture that sprang forth from the DNA. However, to exclude someone merely because you think there is a threshold that “makes someone something” is not something I am ok with. If I claimed to be something that was not signified in my results, then ok. But to create a boundary simply because you think something is “not enough” is a very sad way to represent who you think you are and the community you are a part of. 🙏🏽 🎤
@TheHistoryEcho23 күн бұрын
@@TESZMillan The only threshold here is that you don't have a drop of our DNA - 0.2% is just a margin of error and a marketing tool designed to make people like you create content about it. It could just as easily have been 0.2% Greek, French, Yakut, or even Martian. It's not that it's *not enough* - it simply doesn't exist in you. Just be yourself 🙏🏼
@aubreygrahamprivate4598Ай бұрын
As an Ashkenazi Jew whose great-grandfather survived persecution in Europe and the Holocaust, I believe it’s important to approach the topic of Jewish identity with sensitivity. While I understand the curiosity that comes with DNA ancestry tests, it’s essential to recognize that anything below 5% DNA from a specific group is often considered unreliable by geneticists. This small percentage can be the result of random genetic overlaps, as sections of DNA from any ethnic group can be inherited by chance. Given the long history of Jewish diaspora, especially with Ashkenazim and Sephardim, it’s common for DNA tests to attribute small portions of ancestry to Jewish populations. This is, in part, a marketing strategy, as people are often intrigued by such findings and share them, which sparks further interest in the tests. Additionally, if we consider the mathematics of a 0.2% DNA match, it suggests that one of approximately 500 ancestors could have been Jewish, which makes it difficult to definitively identify oneself as "partially Jewish" based solely on such a small percentage. While it's possible that your ancestor was Jewish, the small amount of DNA makes it more likely that it’s a random match, rather than a clear indication of Jewish heritage. Jewish identity is much more than a genetic marker-it’s a deeply cultural and religious affiliation, and it's crucial to approach it with the respect it deserves.
@TESZMillanАй бұрын
@@aubreygrahamprivate4598 I am very sorry to hear about your family’s persecution. My pride in claiming the very small portion of my Jewish DNA is not meant as disrespect, and I’m sorry if it came across this way. It is meant truly as it is expressed - as awe and as pride. While I was not raised Jewish, I have close ties to those who were born and raised in this faith and in this culture. And I admire their strength and their sense of identity. Something that I feel you express as well. This is why I share how important this part of my DNA is to me.

You might want to do research about the Azkhinazi Jews who were expelled from Spain in the 16th Century and these Jews came to the Philippines to seek refuge considering the country was part of Spain. I would consider these Spanish Azkhinazi Jews the 1st refugees who came to the PH.

According to Republic Act 9225: 1. Born after January 17, 1973, whose fathers or mothers are citizens of the Philippines at the time of their birth; 2. Born before January 17, 1973 to a: a. Filipino father; or b. Filipino mother and that person elects Philippine citizenship upon reaching the age of majority. As I understand it, if you were born before 1973 and your father was not a Filipino citizen, you're not qualified for instant Philippine citizenship. Check your birth certificate. Then again, you can try anyway and let the consulate decide.
