I would love to own an electric car - but, being semi-retired, I do not do a lot of traveling any more. I only manage about 5,000 km per year. It would take many years for the saving on fuel costs to cover the cost of upgrading to electric. I see the price of 2nd hand electric cars has dropped a lot recently. I expect them to go back up again as petrol cars fade from the market. But that will then make petrol cars really expensive for a while - until petrol stations begin to disappear.

As a Hertz renter with a battery charging problem I found nothing in this video helpful. Whoever this video is aimed at it’s not for the BYD novice driver. Basic tips on trouble shooting would be useful. There’s nothing in the user manual. BYD UK support is almost non existent

A friend of mine has one in the Green (we call it Apple Green in the UK). Lovely looking car and is insane to drive. However, I would say MG have missed a trick here and should produce a properly focused performance version like the Ionic 5N, as it just has too much power at the moment and is a bit of a one-trick pony. It’s pretty easy to find it’s limits other than the mad straight line speed. I’d lovely to see an X Squared Power version, even if it was £10,000 more (20,000 AUSD) properly sorted as a mega-hot hatch.

I changed over to Amber & found some things that really need to be considered that are not made clear before joining. I used their quote function on their website that gave me a figure of $87/Month. Firstly I was sold on the battery option where they can control your battery & use it more efficiently but after joining I found tat my Sonnen Battery is not compatible with their app & they cant provide me with a date it would be compatible. Secondly people should be aware that the volatility can cause huge increases in the wholesale market. For example on 1 single day the charge was $73.61 just for the E1 usage with the maximum price at just under $14/kWh. This was just with normal usage. Thirdly you can end up paying for exporting electricity into the grid, currently this month for exporting 120kWh into the grid I have had to pay $8.69 (I dont know who this money goes to. So in summary I received a quote from Amber (Using their website) of $87/Month & my first 2 months bills have been $391.38 (Jun-Jul 2024) & $373.62 (Jul-Aug). Currently this billing cycle I am around $130.00. Be aware Amber maybe good for some so do your homework.

i would prefer they added more curves to the interior, make the infotainment screen bigger and the drivers display lass square.Outside theres sharp lines that make it too square as well. The mid spec version is the sweet spot so they didn't need this X power.Just my opinion

I haven’t driven the Excite model. Mine is an Essence 64 which came with the firmware update which addressed some of the issues people had noticed. Over 6months it has attempted to slow down a bit on long bends only a few times. It doesn’t do it unless there is another car or truck in exactly the right spot and distance coming the other way. It doesn’t last long and is a gentle slow down which it soon corrects. Perhaps the Excite model is different. The behaviour in cruise on the highway never does the stuff you describe. It will remind you if it thinks you are drifting across to another lane. I got used to always indicating lane changes very quickly. I have driven around 10,000km and it is a comfortable touring car. It is interesting that your assessment seems so different. How long did you have the car?

A 360° degree birdeye camera perspective is really the state of the art at the region where Tesla is selling cars. Have had a couple of cars and all above 40k give you the option for a front bumper camera and/or 360° live view. Even the Citroen Berlingo's at our company do generate at least a 180° degree view with full birdeye view with only one camera the more you drive backwards (picture is put together when you reverse). That 3D rendering is ridiculous and they only use it to avoid paying for the patent license cost like all other car manufacturers. That's the only reason for that 3D rendering instead of showing real world imagery.

You just need to look online see how far Tesla values have dropped in the last 2 years. Tesla has been discounting new car prices very heavily which automatically drops resale values . There’s a lot more to be aware of than just saving money on unleaded-and you’ve paid a premium to buy that EV. Dealers are reluctant to buy second hand EVs due to battery replacement costs, so they are hard to off-load, and let’s not mention the price of comprehensive insurance. Please do your homework.

I have a BMW 1 series with an aftermarket head unit which supports wired and wireless carplay and android auto. I ordered 2 different dongles and connected them to the USB which is connected to the head unit going into the glove box rather than the car's USB port and both worked fine.

There is nothing green about filling up agricultural land with shitty solar panels when you could put those same panels on rooftops. It should be illegal to use land for "solar farming. This country is stupid and has no future.

Love the exterior but how one earth does Volvo think this interior competes with a Genesis GV60 or even the Cadillac XT4. The vertical screen and weird recycled dash look horrid!

I was almost convinced till I saw the cacky handed steering column. We pretty much expect that on the eurotrash, but BYD have managed to get that right, not the steering wheel though. It'd be interesting to see how Toyota would go selling right hand steering columns to the cacky handed countries, haha. We Aussies are pretty tolerant.
