Thanks for demonstrating this Chris! Good job! It does work yes but man it's SO SLOW! If I was another driver waiting for you to park like this I think I would get quite frustrated. Like you mentioned, it's like watching a learner driver park.

This should have a L plate pop up when you use self-park. I'll be frustrated too

Thanks 👍

Why did it reverse park? Also, it seemed to park across driveway? Thanks for demo.

It can both forwards and backwards and it won't care about driveways. Just like other self parking systems, responsibility of where you let the car park rests with the driver.

You summed it up well at the end- it's not functional . 90%+ over owners will never use after the first 2 tries.

Hi Chris, re the Model 3 auto pilot. I think reviewers, yourself included, get it wrong when demonstrating it. In my opinion reviewers should be up front and say it isn't 100%, but it can be very good if used as follows. Turn on auto pilot and drive as per normal, your hands on the steering wheel follow the line of the road you would normally take. The car will instantly give back control to you if it tries to deviate from the line of the road your hands are set at. This means what you showed as a fault of the auto pilot can never happen. You get the added bonus of the system double checking the driver because you get the feed back. In my opinion it's foolish to allow these systems so much control, hands should be hold steering as per normal driving. It is handy to highlight when the meat bag makes mistakes. I not seen anyone display auto pilot in such a manner. Everyone wants to show it as dangerous when clearly they are not using it correctly.

This video demonstrates the Kia EV9 and its self parking, so I'm guessing you meant for your comment to be somewhere else? Seen as you've asked - let's talk about it here. To show what cars can with lane keep assist and traffic aware cruise control (a.k.a. Tesla Autopilot), I have to demonstrate them with the lightest of touches - which is not how I drive. The only reason I do this is to remove all doubt that the car is doing it; otherwise a video will draw unfair comments like, "you were steering the car and there's no way it does that". Believe me - been there and would rather not defend myself from people who don't believe how good Tesla (and BMW to be honest) are good at this sort of thing.
