That bottom pocket made for snacks during the day, so you can eat without stopping. That was the original thought among uber-ultralighters, but the pocket also collects small trash items, etc., as a stuff pocket.

Don't use bleach on your water don't use tablets in your water bottles don't drink plastic water bottle if you don't have to of course . Only throw away your plastic bottles if you can't get them to smell like soap again and add water. . Otherwise throw them away as often

This has happened to me on trips as well. You are doing an important thing by sharing it. For a while I wondered if there was something wrong with me. After seeing others sharing videos like this, I began to realize just how common it is. Thanks for sharing.

What do you think of my setup, this is 80% of the stuff I use for hikes. I have much more for normal camping two . Here in the Netherlands you can just drink from the tap so we don't really need water filters and if we need water I just ring the bell people, or there are water points. Wild camping is not allowed, so you go to camping site soon, I like to go to scouts camping site cheap and these are in the middle of the forest, with often only water, sometimes with a toilet my setup DD Hammocks Bergen Rucksack -remove the original side pockets and replaced with US MOLLE II Sustainment Pouch -removed the action pack - and a dump pouch on the hip for water inside the bag Modulaire slaapzak Fecsa NL leger depends on the weather condition how i pack left pouch Highlander Crusader Hammock -the original tarp is replaced DD Tarp 3x3 - PRO it is somewhat heave but i can connect to the same tarps right pouch mug rvs insite small bottle for coffee powder Pathfinder Swedish Cooking Set 3-Piece Stainless Steel -i left out the burner and wind screen in site the pathfinder i have BRS Ultralight Gas Stove GSI Outdoors Ultralight Java Drip Coffee Filter gas, scouring pad, cutting board, ecological dishwashing liquid. under the bag DD Underblanket top pouch forme the bag first aid hygiëne item bag knife towel, tea towel

That rule about rain is so real. It also works with the south... if you don't pack warm clothes it'll be cold when you go down south.

As a NewZealander who goes hiking late 3 seasons early 4 my sleeping bag is a macpac sleeping bag limit rated to 15 farenheight. Had it down to about 20 and been super comfortable I am a warm sleeper and if i was going to do winter camping I would probably get a sea to summit bag liner that adds warmth and call it a day

$25 per day? I work with volunteers in the outdoors and have to work on having 5GBP per person per day. That's about 6 bucks. Volunteers are expected to sort their own breakfast but even so.

I think loud music should also include talking louding or shouting to someone else in your group especially for tours or group hikes. Same goes for hiking with kids. Either keep them leashed or make sure they are not shouting or being loud and following trail etiquettes too

Most of the time I'm just hitting the dirt road behind my house, but I try to treat it as a training opportunity. Most of my gear lives in my daypack, but I do fill up my hydration pack and grab my jacket to throw inside and maybe a snack. I try to treat my equipment for a dayhike as the stuff I'd need to uncomfortably camp. I have a tarp, trekking poles, etc to rig up a shelter and my nemo sitpad and a space blanket. Given the moderate weather of my region, plus the ability to start a fire or warm water for a nalgene heater, that is more than enough gear for me to survive a few nights if I were to get lost and unable to self rescue. I also carry a navigation kit, but no satalite messenger. Just my phone for a GPS and my maps/compasses (suunto clipper on the watch band and MCT-2 Global in my pocket). If I were hitting the trail for real I'd toss in one of my down trail quilts (a kammock firebelly), but I hate to compress them needlessly for a walk around my neighborhood. My pack is an REI Traverse, which is big for a day pack, but I'd rather have a good hipbelt and a frame to take the load. Gives me plenty of room for all the gear I could want and I treat the weight as training for future backpacking trips when I have the free time.
