Great interview. It’s very entertaining listening to man children pretend like there’s a real etiquette for safety at their man children music shows for man children committing cowardly low key violence due to unprocessed childhood trauma

39:14 during the talk of the Liquid Fire, what is meant by "Is that right and left?" I can't figure out exactly what they're talking about here.

Ok, I'm back with a slightly nicer comment. I apologize, I was triggered. I'm a female drummer and pianist. I have gone through engineering school (top of class) and have an MBA (ie. I'm not afraid of hard work.) I have felt continuous pressure to prove myself to men, which is exhausting. With that said, women aren't scared of the drums because they're hard. It's considered too masculine. I loved both drums and piano as a child, and I was pushed to piano. We constantly get messaging that we can't do things or they're not feminine enough from a very young age. Stigma needs to change. We need to feel respected and welcome. <3

Talking about culture being diluted while simultaneously doing live nation tours and signing deals with massive brands like Nike who use borderline slave labor is wild

Just a bunch of friends from a small town who wanted to play music together and put other mates on the map. That’s real love, props to SPEED, they have already carved their name next to some of the greats in the scene with this mindset alone.

I'm a guitarist but drummers have always been the core and heart of music to me. I had the priviledge of playing with the most amazing drummers, and they are the coolest of all musicians. yet they too have now been poisoned by the social media destruction of music. It's all about technique, speed, faking shit, and views. heart and soul are out the window. We guitarists have always had this pathetic tendency, because we're basically morons. But now drums have fallen. It's over folks

Just in case anyone wonders about why Ronnie's criticism is absolutely smooth brain bat shit stupid: participating in a boycott over a genocide whilst taking some money from a company to keep yourself going is not the same thing. You could wing that arguement all the way to the bottom: having a band appear on anything with any company whatsoever is something you could criticise. We literally have to put food on the table and bands like speed can't afford to turn down opportunities. Obviously you have to take each case as it comes and you can't associate with certain brands, but it's practically impossible to avoid some form of contradiction in this system. So either you take a stand or you don't. Nd theres a thing called context and nuance that ronnie literally has about as much understanding of as an ant might understand the alphabet. Ronnie whining about cancel culture whilst fronting one of the biggest metal bands on the planet is a funny contradiction in itself to be quite honest. I do think there's a criticism to aim at the hardcore space specifically hosting brand advertisements. It's one of the last spaces we can escape this modern Hellscape and as HC grows bigger, watching brands and corporations sink their teeth into the scene is depressing.

I have a feeling it's like the Whitechapel albums with the OG drummer (forget his name): kicks and snare quantized, toms quantized at times, and cymbals left mostly natural. Makes for a semi-natural result without sounding like sloppy dogshit or tooOOOO perfect. I mean in the Whitechapel case the ride during skank and blast beats is mostly terrible and sloppy, so that contrasts heavily with the grid-perfect snare and tom hits so maybe not so natural after all
