This kit looks great. Oil change panel could be improved though. The original design does not have vents and has noise dampening pad behind it. So it sounds like your kit will affect how air flows into the generator which may or may not be a problem (I don't know), but for sure will increase noise level.
@GrenergyTriFuel17 сағат бұрын
Noise doesn’t come from the side of the generator where the door is. All of the noise comes from the exhaust side of the generator when it’s under load. Have someone plug in an appliance and stand behind the generator where the exhaust exits and hear how loud the exhaust gets when the generator ramps up. It’s no different than standing behind a car while asking someone to rev their engine.

You did not need thread tape, there is a gasket doing the sealing, it seals at the taper "AN" style, not at the threads like a pipe. What about the "jet"? Nat gas uses a larger jet than propane in my grill, how do you address that ?? Is there a jet anywhere in the generator on the propane side??
@GrenergyTriFuel4 күн бұрын
Correct, no need for thread tape on that fitting. I only place it around the threads and not at the taper part. It’s just my way of ensuring a seal when it’s not needed. No jet is needed for NG, only LP has the jet on my kits.
@bruceb95526 күн бұрын
It did not look like that conversion was "5 gas calibrated" based on your response to the load. As if that was the first time you ran it? It would be more convincing if you had a video of the generator in the test cell and the 5 gas readings. And if pressure matters... the end user may end up lean anyway??
@GrenergyTriFuel5 күн бұрын
The kit is plug and play and guaranteed to run right out of the box without any fuel adjustments unless you’re switching between LP/NG. Which I provide a preset feeler gauge for the load block. That in itself can only be achieved with a 5 gas analyzer, something my competitors don’t do except for genconnex as they have their kits EPA certified. I custom built the load block with higher tolerance and adjustment to allow for slight variation in NG pressure ranging between 4-8 W.C. Meaning the fuel settings have enough room for these variations to satisfy the electronic governor and maintain operation. The rest of the 5 gas analyzer readings are proprietary as the equipment and time in the engine room is an upfront cost along with the patent I’ve filed for fuel adapter.

@@GrenergyTriFuel When you post a video of the conversion going thru the lab testing I will buy one. Until then....
@GrenergyTriFuel4 күн бұрын
Sorry, I would rather not, it’s my competitive advantage over other kits out on the market, which they’ve didn’t bother doing any sort of testing, so they just leave the fuel adjustments to their customers. They didn’t spend thousands in testing, but I have and it’s paid off for folks who currently purchased my products. I understand you need proof, but if you’re not convinced. It maybe easier to just buy a generator that is already dual or tri fuel equipped. I appreciate your feedback and comment.
@bruceb95523 күн бұрын
@@GrenergyTriFuel Showing your kit is not running too lean only helps you. If you are doing the testing that is.
@GrenergyTriFuelКүн бұрын
With gasoline going leaner will increase exhaust cylinder temperatures. This is opposite with LP/NG, going leaner will result in cooler exhaust temperatures. It’s only a big issue when you go too rich with LP/NG, this can run the engine hotter. Going rich can increase power output and going too lean will reduce power output and lower engine RPM. Finding that precise balance can only be achieved with a 5 gas analyzer. A better indicator of correct fuel mixture would be pulling the spark plug and checking the condition of the tip. You can google search “spark plug engine conditions”

Your concern for a Chinese hose on a Chinese generator is funny. Great video either way. Thanks.
@GrenergyTriFuel14 күн бұрын
Chinese hoses are not built to any UL standards. But Chinese made generators have to be built to meet basic electrical safety standards. And its engines built to meet emissions requirements to be even sold in the United States. It’s about liability and not everything Chinese made are on the same level.
@ryancunningham784713 күн бұрын
@GrenergyTriFuel I'll agree that there definitely is a wide range of quality, so picking something like a regulator is difficult. On the other side of things, the cap on the stock regular can be removed, allowing access to the adjuster screw. I obviously wouldn't endorse that on a KZbin channel, but it's basically about 1.5 rotations clockwise on the stock reg to make it work with natural gas. I wish Harbor Freight would just sell a reg for natural gas. They would make more money for part they all ready manufacture and it gives the consumer peace of mind that there buying an approved component.
@GrenergyTriFuel13 күн бұрын
The adjustment screw under the cap of the demand regulator is not all accessible to everyone. The unit on mine is thread locked including the fittings all around it. Also without a prime button to bleed out air, it would take longer to crank over the engine if you add extra hose length. The issue is, not everyone who watches my channel are handy around the house. My business is built around convenience and guaranteed functionality w/ warranty and customer support from the kits I sell. I would rather not encourage people to modify their regulator assemblies due to how poorly some are manufactured, and the inconsistency in each part. If one of my viewers modifies the regulator, and now suddenly there is a gas leak or the unit malfunctions and dumps high pressure into the generator. I could be sued and be liable for dangerously misleading my viewers. A lot of folks get upset that I only talk about my products rather than helping them save money by doing it themselves. But don’t see things from my perspective when it comes to “liability” and I don’t want to be responsible for someone else’s mistakes or death. People in our country sue anyone over everything and anything. If folks want to DIY parts for their own generators, I’m sorry this channel isn’t it.
@GrenergyTriFuel13 күн бұрын
To answer your second question on why Harbor Freight wont sell a regulator dedicated to NG. Thats because harbor freight will now have to certify emissions testing for NG. Which costs a ton of money to be approved. They already pay to have that emissions sticker slapped onto the generator for gasoline and LP and the EPA only issues a number of these stickers according to what the manufacturer paid. To get more “stickers” they would need to go through testing again. EPA does not joke around and it costs a ton of money to be in compliance. This strict emissions is the reason why Honda generators are no longer available for sale in the state of California. Other states are now considering following this trend including Colorado, Washington State, New York and Oregon.

You don't have to replace the fuel pump and injectors just because fuel goes bad from storage. Also, fuel does not go bad after 30 days. It is OK to talk about pros and cons of fuel injection versus carb, but your argument is flawed. It would be useful to discuss performance and reliability for frequent and infrequent usage. Infrequent users are migrating towards propane and natural gas for a reason.
@GrenergyTriFuel19 күн бұрын
Wrong. Gasoline does gum up injectors and fuel pumps if you forget to empty the gas tank for months on end. Fuel in most cases does go bad especially if you live in places like California where they have their own blend of fuel. I’ve been to California and had my cars sit for 2 weeks and you can already see gasoline separate from its additives when you pour it in a cup.

@GrenergyTriFuel aluminum is a metal 🤦. Magnetic iron and aluminum particles exist in the oil because of wear. The magnet only attracts the iron. The bottom of the sump doesn't get cleaned out unless you drain from the bottom and tilt the engine. 🤦

Yes, metals as in iron that the magnets attracts. Was this not common knowledge that was taught in elementary school? Because to everyone else it was, except you. 🤦♂️ The aluminum particles may still float around in the oil and is removed during oil changes. With continued oil changes, the residual metals gets to be less and less. Having the magnet is a “better than nothing” approach towards removing foreign objects floating in the oil. Companies such as the Genmax “GM4600iAEDC” are now offering magnetic dipsticks in their generators from factory. 🤦♂️ Why not head on over to Genmax and mansplain them what you’ve just told me. 🤦♂️ I can’t believe I have to explain this to a dumb@$$ who thinks magnets are for aluminum, and assumes everyone else is just as dumb as you are.

Looks like max surge of 2 kilowatts + a bit on propane with a max rated surge of 2200 watts on gasoline so a ~10% probable? reduction in max surge on propane. A key is watching the voltage - for a little while when just some of the second heater was added (2 kilowatts added?) so into the short term surge range it kept the voltage just above 120 volts. Probably with the bit more power on gasoline it would have made it to the rated short time surge of 2200 while keeping the voltage just above 120. Then when clearly overloaded with 2 heaters on it lowered the voltage to around 100 but still around 2 kilowatts on its way to overload warning - shutdown? Looks like your propane set up may well have a running wattage of 1800 watts because it was able to get into the surge range of 2 kilowatts on propane. Long running on propane with a 1800 watt load and 120 volts maintained with engine and exhaust and inverter temps taken and compared to those temps taken under the same operating conditions on gasoline would tell the tale as to a "rated" running watts on propane. propane has great convenience for intermittent use (no bad gas killing carb operation) or use where propane fuel cost is not a concern.

that exhaust ex can also be turned up via electrical conduit. into a 3 or 4 in pvc stack-able stack to get the exhaust to go up and away from where the unit is parked. just need to build a base to keep the pvc up right and inches off the ground. (allows cold air in the bottom). no cap on top, unless you will be running in heavy rain. then place a T and a couple 6 in lengths on top to help keep the rain out. all this would exit a good two feet over the roof of your rv, or home. gets the exhaust up and away. will also cut back on some of the DB's, coming from the unit.
