i've opened my wired 8bitdo ultimate thanks to this video, I was scared of breaking anything all the time but thank god everything came out well. I didnt had the money to buy a new joystick and was almost throwing it away, but I thought "why not try to repair it since it would cost half the price of a new one?" (the tools and the potentiometer). This guy really saved me 🙏

Just cleaning and reseating the sensor took my drift away! The offending sensor seemed to have a lot of black oil on it and the others didn't. Wiped it clean, put it back in and it worked fine! This was a Series X controller that had the two coax antennae (not present in your video) so be careful removing those!

I tried it with a remapper to make a scuf you know and know it doesn‘t work so good. The D-pad down button is permanently pressed

I used a new paint can opener as the pry tool. It is metal but has a very smooth plating and did not scratch anything. I also got the side piece up under my thumbnail and it hurt and bled. Use the hook on the tool to pull it away for a wound free removal of the side pieces.

you dont need to replace them, just cleaning the contacts did the trick

What spring do you recommend for something like the standard dual sense, the standard dual sense input and movement is so smooth…. That’s the only things that’s missing from the edge for me is the high tension

@dontebundles1335Ай бұрын
So it’s just a sticker ? I think it would be like the ones we have for the controllers you know the rubbery skins but nice anyways

My dudes! It works, i didnt do the capacitor business but this Sunday I decided to try a DIY fix on an ancient fat boy ps3 that lived in a shed, yellow light of doom, discarded for over 13 years. I went full DIY meme hack mode. Tore out the security screw, snapped off a ribben cable, used a hair dryer to heat the cpu/gpu (took about 8mins each side) applied baby rash cream and vaseline as thermal past and then reassembled it using this video.... it posted! thermal paste won't last long but as a first attempt goes I'm rather chuffed. Thank you very much for this video, couldn't have pulled it off without you. £5 for a ps3 controller and cable, dug out a bunch of old games, sorted until it dies 😂

Managed to bag one of these bad boys for £20 the other day. Gonna attempt to take it apart and replace the thermal paste. I have done this on other consoles but not the ps3 phat back compat. Can’t wait to be able to easily play ps3, 2 and one games. I had a ps3 slim before this and whilst it’s still good it’s gonna be great to play more ps2 games and native
