The meter voltage isn’t terribly helpful but it has percentage capacity left on the screen which is accurate and very useful
@ecospider5
@ecospider5 4 күн бұрын
To bad you didn’t check the percentage meter during your discharge test
@enigmascape
@enigmascape 4 күн бұрын
I've checked it, it's not accurate. The percentage meter appears to just be based on the voltage... It's better than nothing I supposed, but I wouldn't rely on it. Most batteries have nothing, and the battery itself I am quite happy with tho. They told me they are working on getting a more accurate meter, but no idea when that will happen. Maybe they will reach out to me if they update it and I can share.

In between your positive buss bar and the 12v fuse assembly, you have a fuse. I'm wondering why since every output of that assembly is fused... Also, shouldn't have you a fuse between the battery positive and the buss bar? Just wondering! Thanks
@enigmascape
@enigmascape 6 күн бұрын
The reason is because its a way to limit the max load of the entire fuesblock, sort of like how you have a 100a main breaker on your house, but then have 10x 20a circuits. If too many things are on at the same time you want it to throw the main if the wire cant handle it. As for the other fuse at the battery, it would probably be a good idea to have a catastrophe fuse there. I usually use a DC breaker instead of that disconnect switch which serves that purpose, but I didn't have an extra one on hand when I made the video. IMO it's not entirely necessary, but you can never be too careful.

I'm planning on a more simple system with just a battery and inverter do you have any recommendations like safety switch?
@enigmascape
@enigmascape 6 күн бұрын
For a super simple system you could get by just putting a dc breaker between the battery and the inverter. Sonething like one of these amzn.to/4ez6mQw but make sure you get the right amp rating first your wire.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: This was an early version of this power station, and I believe there was a misprint in the product information that has since been corrected. This DOES NOT support 400w worth of solar input, it only supports up to 220w of SOLAR input, and 400w of AC input. 220w of solar is still a very good amount of solar for such a small power station, but I needed to make this correction to what I said.

Wow BoughRV are picky about giving away product, nice panels you got there
@enigmascape
@enigmascape 11 күн бұрын
Yea, they really are. I think they only agreed to send me the panel cuz I owned the controller already out of my own pocket, but they did provide the panel for the review. It really is the best 200w panel you can buy I think. And their controllers are great too with built-in cold temp protection. I am lucky to live in an area where I can buy huge 300w-400w lightly used panels for dirt cheap locally, but most people are not that lucky, so I think these would be the best panel for anyone who needs to have panels shipped. I have a mashup of about 10 different panels outside and this one is the clear winner, but it 'doesn't play well with others' because of it's odd volt/amp ratings are not close to any of my other 200w panels... So if someone goes with these and wants to build a larger system, they really need to go all-in with um and use the same panels. But, being a big brand like BougeRV you can rest assured they will be making these same ones for many years so you can expand down the road without worrying if you will be able to get more of the same ones. Thats my problem with buying used panels... They always seem to have different ones all the time, so buying used you need to buy as many as you need for your whole array and maybe have a couple extra on hand just in case one gets damaged down the road or whatever.
@mlangfordcamper
@mlangfordcamper 11 күн бұрын
@@enigmascape Maybe I should do a review on the 30amp pwn I bought so they will help me out with a panel. The did reach out to me and I thought they were going to give me 200 flexible panel then for no reason they just ghosted me.

Man I would love to get some solar stuff, glad I found your channel and am so surprised you are not monitized yet. You are so at ease in front of a camera which I have not mastered yet. Subscribed and will be watching you grow not here for free stuff but it would be nice, I have thirst for solar knowledge
@enigmascape
@enigmascape 11 күн бұрын
Thanks, 'at ease on camera' is not something I would ever expect to hear honestly, lol. One of the big reasons I started this channel was to overcome an irrational fear I have of cameras actually, which is one reason why I don't show my face much, but try and get outside my comfort zone sometimes and do it. I'm a 'conversationalist' so this whole thing is outside my comfort zone to try and communicate without having another real person right there on the other end of a conversation, but I am working on it. This was an early video on my channel and this giveaway is over now, and I'm monetized and all that now but that's just pocket change really... I'm gonna be doing more giveaways very soon. We live in an RV in the middle of nowhere and we don't really have room to store all this stuff, so I'd rather give a bunch of it away to people who could use it rather than having it sitting here collecting dust. Only thing stopping me from giving away a BUNCH of stuff is I can't afford to be shipping stuff out of my pocket, and IMO it sounds sketchy to have a giveaway where the recipient needs to pay to ship it... idk... I might do some kind of membership thing maybe to help pay for shipping stuff, idk, but I'm trying to work that out somehow... anyway, glad to have ya here. I checked out your channel and that little teardrop is awesome! WAY nicer than my 'hobolander' lol.

@enigmascape 22 күн бұрын
Yea it's a pretty good little unit for the price. Between the 600w inverter, and the 240w input I don't know of anything else that can compete in this price range. It's a great way to get started and sorta dabble around with solar and get a feel for it without having to worry about alot of the technical stuff that comes along with going the DIY route. I'll be doing some of the bigger and more capable ones because just like the Lifepo4 batteries, these all-in-one power stations have really come down in price, while at the same time really ramped up the features and capabilities. I have a really cool mid-sized one on the way and am excited to review it. I feel like having a collection of these that range in size from this one, on up to the larger ones is a great way to go. Some people seem to think you should just buy 1 and get a massive one to power everything. I have some pretty massive stuff, and I still use these little guys all the time.

So a newbie question here. So the group size is only for the dimensions? So you could have a group 24, a group 31, qnd a mini wired together? As long as they are the same volt/watt hours I'm guessing. Thank you for all the info!
@enigmascape
@enigmascape Ай бұрын
yea the group size is the physical dimensions of the case, and yes, technically you could wire 3 different types together in PARALLEL ONLY as long as they are the same voltage, but it's not really recommended for efficiency reasons. In fact it's recommended to stick with the same brand and size so that the BMS's all match and the entire bank were all purchased within a year from eachother. But you know, that's a 'perfect world' and I don't think it's that big of deal. I'd only do all of these if it made financial sense to do so really. If you ever wanted to switch to 24v or 48v by wiring your bank into series, then all of these factors would come into play and I wouldn't do it because the voltages between batteries would end up all out of whack.

@@enigmascape Thank you for the clarification. Good thing to keep in mind. Maybe saving up and getting 4 of the same (or however many is needed) at the same time rather than 1 now, 1 in six months, another in six months (and so on) is the best way to go? Different question, is it better to get all the batteries needed first and then inverter and charge controller and panels to make sure they all work together, or inverter first and get ones to work with that? Sorry for all the questions, especially if this is something I missed in a previous video, or if it's something you will be going over in a future video. Thank you again!!

Your inverter is too small in my opinion. A lot of people have these units like a Ecoflow or Bluetti so if you try and charge one of those with that setup your inverter will trip because these "all in one" units charge at 1200 or more watts.
@enigmascape
@enigmascape 22 күн бұрын
It's a very small system for demonstration of wiring purposes. It only has a single 12v battery with a 100a BMS which could not handle much more than a sustained 1000w anyway, if you need to run more than 1000w then yea, you will want a bigger inverter, add more batteries to increase the BMS capacity, and use heavier gauge wire to handle the increased amps. But, I appreciate your comment, every system has it's limitations.
