Do you have the rat tail maggots in your balcony pond then? Do you find they stink a bit? I guess there is good air flow up there so it probably doesn't matter too much.?

I'm doing this because my potting soil contains topsoil, and this topsoil contains bacteria and fungus, which prevents my cutting from rooting. The third method seems easy; however, I don't know how effective it really is.

Hi Jason, I have spoken to some artists in my studio. They are all into plants and botany in one way or another. One of them has an allotment at MontJuic. You should definitely visit that park and see the large 200 person allotment. Barcelona is a city of concrete so it is nice to have that park down the road (well, up the road, considering it is on a slope) from the studio. Just google “Montjuic extension of Font Trobada allotments” or “Community gardens of city park Montjuic”. I hope you go. And hope you make some contacts with whoever is in charge of the park or community gardens there. P.S. Barcelona, like the cities of Italy, is full of smokers so the air is hard to take at times, at least for me, a non-smoker. So, be prepared for that!

I have much gratitude for the commitment and dedication of all involved in this project. I totally relate with your desire for your work to be a living "legacy." I am often approached for projects but struggle with the 'we did a thing' concept. It is truly inspiring to see the level of investment of the collective minds that got you and your needs. Best to you always in all your endeavors. It goes without saying, but you are a legacy builder. Journey on sunflower 🌻. I am here for it!

Jason, watching your gardening journey has been incredibly inspirational. I'm writing in from Vancouver, British Columbia and my neighbourhood is currently going through a transformation from houses and low-rise apartments to 20 story glass towers. The loss of green spaces and street trees is very concerning to myself and my neighbours. Seeing how you advocate for urban greening and balcony gardens and the resources you create is so important and you are truly one of my heroes. Much love!

Feel free to pass on any of the information you get from my videos to help in your area too ❤ In my previous video sharing my new opportunity , I spoke about my research trip. I'm not just searching for answers to help Manchester. It is for all of us who live in the city, so once I have finished and consolidated my research, I would be happy to travel to you and meet your local leaders! ❤ I will mention that in my follow-up video later this week ❤️

This documentary not only gives a little perspective to what goes into exhibiting at a show, but it also shows the thoughts behind the concept. I set out to answer one question. How do we make our towns & cities greener? For me, it's about involving young people, engaging with horticultural retailers, developers & local authorities so that all parties benefit. What's next? Check out this video to find out how I plan to implement these ideas nationwide: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pXimdKB5nqmWqsk

I am in Barcelona now and am surprised at how little green space there is. Still, what trees they do have house many parrots and swallows, depending on which neighborhood you are in. Mountjuic area has a nice park as does the area where Miro’s museum is. I wonder if you have considered visiting or liaising with Ireland which is closer to you that all the places you mentioned. I think you would be impressed by their rewilding projects, though I am not sure the ones in the roundabouts make sense because any insects they hope to attract there are surely going to get splattered by the constant movement of vehicles.

The climate in the UK is forecast to match Barcelona's current temps by 2050.. So In interested in finding out what drought tolerant planting/water retention solutions they have come up with. Let me know if you see anything there I should look at! :) I would love to visit Ireland, there's quite a lot of similar work happening on verges/roads in Sheffield here in England too so I'll be showing you guys some of that work too! ❤️

@@CloudGardenerUK I had no idea about the expected climate change in the UK. I don’t think they’ll be ready for Barcelona’s climate. Mahn, it is hot hot hot. Now I understand the need for a siesta break between 2-4pm. Like in the UK, the buildings are not equipped with air conditioning and here they are so close together it is really hard to adjust to the heat and imagine, I am from Jamaica, where it gets very hot. Here in Barcelona they’ve come up a massive desalination project and are planning another. I just wonder what that does to the marine life. But of course, humans do not think of that when they mess with the oceans, rivers and seas. They just think, oh, it is not land, it is okay. I don’t really have any contacts. I am here doing an art project but I am always paying attention to the environments I visit and what nature looks like wherever I go. But if I meet any environmental artists I will be sure to ask them stuff I can pass on to you.
