I have a 09 Custom no fuel or rpm gauge, no signal cancelling, no kick stand lock, hard to find saddle bags to fit, not great on the highway for passing or fuel consumption, and terrible stock seats. But I still love it!

Yes I did. If I were to do it all over again I'd do a pod kit along with exhaust same time and just rejet once.

This may be a silly question but how do you know what jet size to go with. Is it trial and error or anything specific. I bought my v star a year ago and it didn't run. I rebuilt the carbs and have got it running pretty well. I'd like to put the shorts hots on it but haven't wanted to tear it apart again without having the knowledge I need.

I have owned around 40 "metric" bikes since 1975. I have been riding Harleys since 2003, bought used. I ride Harleys because of the way they sound and the way they feel. I am not a fan of H-D. From my experience, "metric" bikes are generally more reliable than Harleys. They are just not nearly as much fun to ride. As for the shaft drive issue, pretty much all shaft drive bikes, with the exception of the Honda Goldwing, and the old Moto Guzzi bikes which use a completely different design, have shaft drive issues. I have owned THREE Kawasaki Vulcan 750s, two bought new, one used. It seems that every single Vulcan 750, from 1985 to 2006 did not have the final drive splines lubricated at the factory. And by the time they reached the first service interval where the splines were supposed to be lubricated, there would already be significant damage. This happened on my first one, a new 1993 model. Fortunately back then I was able to find a good final drive unit on eBay. I bought another new Vulcan 750 in 2002. That time I disassembled the final drive as soon as I got it home. It was completely dry, as expected. But I found it in time to save it. Those final drive splines need to be lubricated with Moly paste (not grease) every 10,000 miles. I use Honda Moly 60, which is 60% moly. Properly maintained, they will last forever.

I've been riding since age 16, in 1975. I've had around 50 bikes, of all kinds, except crotch rockets, I won't go near those things. Mostly cruisers. Big, small, and in between. I had a 2002 V-Star 650 Classic for a couple of years. Completely stock except for a backrest and saddlebags. It did fine on the highway at 65 mph in the right lane. It didn't have enough vibration for me, which is why I now ride a Harley Sportster 1200. But the only real problem I had with it was its tube type tires. In arou8nd 2 years I had 3 flats. A flat with tube type tires requires a tow truck. And one of those flats cost me almost $1000. Towing charges, a 3 day stay in a motel, and around $400 for a dealer to pick up the bike at the motel, and replace the rear tire and tube. Plus I missed 2 days work. I have not ridden a bike with tube type tires since. I have NEVER owned a bike with EFI, and never will. EFI sucks. Not a believer in mixing computers and motorcycles. ALL internal combustion engines need to be warmed up before taking off, no matter how they run. No doing so will severely shorten engine life. It sounds like you might be happier with a battery powered bike.

Your complaints are very Petty it's a cruiser it's not supposed to be going 100 mph for more than a few seconds if you did not know that going into getting that motorcycle then you didn't do your research
@Nicholas-qe8so5 ай бұрын
He said 100kph not 100mph. He basically said at 60mph its abit bumpy.
I have a 2007 650 classic and I don't know where to find any parts. I also am not the biggest fan of chrome and I want to break it up some. Where can I find parts to do this as well as exhaust the only ones I see are the Vance and Hines short shots which I would love to get over the stock but if there are other options I'd like to know.
@carllmack22872 ай бұрын
RevZilla offers parts by make and model. There are a few exhaust options for them I went with a Cobra slash cut and love the sound. Barks but not overly loud. Easy to remove the baffles.
