As a minor, I think if we use the internet safely and not sneak onto adult websites, we should be fine, but, sometimes some stuff does pop up if you're uneducated with certain things, but I think if a site is 13+, then it should be fine for a 13 year old, there is a difference between people who are under 13 and people who are 13+. I think it's unfair to not let people who are of age to use platforms not use them. And as a minor, I do not want to see any sexual shit at all. Also not all gore is 18+, theres gore and stuff in T rated games.

I feel like my biggest issue is that half the time this tends to devolve into victim blaming, an entire discussion on censorship, or just a thin veil for bigotry in some cases (specifically against queer, trans, and neurodivergent folks or just anyone stuck in abusive households).

i was literally thinking to myself about how isolated i feel because theres no safe online spaces anywhere. im 16 i just wanna post about silly stuff i dont wanna see nsfw and stuff :( im lonely i wanna make friends and such my childhood has been ruined and stolen from me because of how online spaces are. i was given access in first grade.😭my parents only started caring about my online activity when i was hospitalized in middle school and now i can barely use anything bc its not safe :(

Let's just say: If I am on a 13+ website, I have the right to assume that everyone else is at least 13. I know that is not the case. But why should it be my job to check and monitor that before I interact with others? Where are the parents! After the whole coppa KZbin thing (which is by the way 16+ in my country), I got so paranoid, I essentially made my entire channel description about that. "pls dont use bad words im only 7". THEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON HERE IN THE FIRST PLACE.

as a minor who's about to be a young adult next year I can agree with this one if minors wasn't on the internet then stuff like groomers online and everything else wouldn't be happening I feel like parents need to watch their children especially when they're under age I truly dont think its a good idea to let the internet raise your child.

this is an excellent video!!!!!! <3 i'm a minor and a vtuber, and you would be surprised how many nsfw and mdni accounts I get following me on twitter,, I have a pinned post on my twitter saying im uncomfortable with 18+ content creators and nsfw accounts, and yet ive blocked over *600* accounts that are NSFW who have interacted with me (eg: replies, following, DMs etc), that don't even care to check my account (i also have minor in my bio) (and this is just my personal opinion) but I find it absolutely stupid how people are able to defend nsfw and mdni accounts existing, when they take absolutely NO care to see who they're interacting with, and post nsfw content freely where anyone can access it. they don't understand that boundaries go both ways. i've even been harassed by solely nsfw and mdni accounts, just for existing. mdni and nsfw accounts assume that everyone is an adult around them, and don't care who they hurt. almost ALL of them come with the argument that 'oh well i dont check accounts!!' when they're trying to make a solely 18+ community. they can't verify the ages of the people around them, and it only results in kids growing up fucked in the head. i was an ipad baby (ahem being on discord since 8 years old and still using the same account) and i'm glad ive always found sexual content repulsive and disgusting, because other people aren't so lucky. it's ridiculous to expect kids whose frontal lobes haven't even started to think about developing to make major decisions about what they do, and what they look at. (even if ive always seen those who fall to it a little bit stupid... but i suppose thats just me) i once talked to a person about my frustration about all of this, telling them that i wish nsfw had age verification. they responded by giving me a scenario where my parents had signed up to a website with this age verification and now they had been doxxed and we had lost our house. basically, the ultimatum they gave me was 'let kids roam free on the internet' or 'anyone who signs up to nsfw sites gets doxxed'. it makes me so upset to think about. i hate it. i wish people could just be normal. i get at least 5 dms a week with men in their 20s-40s asking me for compromising photos or nsfw content, or anything along those lines. i know it's the internet and that nothing will change, but in some ways im still really disappointed,,, i only have a life online due to physical disability and the only place i know as 'home' is constantly invaded by people who make me feel unsafe,, the reality is that other people and i don't feel safe anymore, and i've never felt more alone in my life with how i feel about this. I think that under 13's shouldnt be on the internet, over 13? with supervision and at like 14-15 you get Propper access. I had some HARSH parental controls until i was 16 and that horrible, i couldnt visit sites like instagram. I'm 17 myself and yeah i agree young kids shouldn't be online, its just not the place, they dont know how to interact and they can stumble on some horrible shit. I also think that people Kinda need to define Minor, I'm technically A minor, And I think i should be online lol (not saying that this was your point, just saying that some people will take minor has under 18)

As somebody who literally just became an adult, I wholeheartedly agree minors should not be on the internet, or atleast certain spheres of it without heavy moderation. I don't think any kid should have to experience what I or many others went through :/ Like I met so many amazing people online, however the online world left me with enough awful experiences I legit have lifelong issues now. To any kids out there at the moment, please keep yourself safe and talk to a trusted adult if something happens.

As a minor on the internet, my mom wouldn’t let me on the internet in the first place for long time cuz of kidnapping stories. I’m really thankful for that cuz if I got on the internet before 12 I probably would’ve done dumb shit. I feel like the internet is not safe in any means, but some of it depends on where you go and if you disclose you are a minor. However, you could be in the safest place ever and still get asked or told uncomfortable things. There’s just no winning :(

I remember i was on colors 3d! Which was an art community for 3ds users, and i used to make art of my pony oc. There was this one guy who would say something to lowkey put down somwthing in my art, whether or not he realized it. He once compared me to an artist i had never even heard of, and implied that i was copying their art style. Like, no? Maybe i also draw big ears on my ponies 😤

I listened to your last story about this specific abusive fr*end. I've been in a similar situation. One of my old friend groups had a leader (I know - I also think past me is stupid). But instead of living with him, we were just around each other a lot. The sparknotes are: 1) This was an alt-right group. 2) I was a massive pushover. "I understand" was a very common phrase in my vernacular. 3) We always argued by reputation. "But" was a frequent response I heard from this specific person (the group leader) would target toward me. And it was never solo conversation. He would always berate me in front of others - then I would turn silent. It came to me always feeling anxious about anything I ever said for fear of I would not receive his favor. But in solo conversations, he was super chill and would buy me food... yeah. I had heard the term "negging" before, but never understood what it was. Long story short, he had no problem with me being Queer™. but that wasn't true - because he had a problem about me being vocal about being Queer™. He didn't mind. Cool for me. This means even this shitty person can be accepting. Great! /s I should have realized when he refused to respect my chosen name and my gender identity that there would be some problems. He explicitly told me "I just won't refer to you", but I thought he was kidding. He would slip up (or perhaps test the waters to see how far he can push me back to "being normal") and I would passively correct him. I'm a very non-confrontational person and this has worked well for many people in my life. Then he started talking shit behind my back, I learned there was another group chat and eventually he ghosted me and pretty much said "it's [them] or me" He refused to engage with me until I eventually backed him into a corner (in DMs) and asked him why he won't even try. He went on how it's not fair to him to change and that Singular They isn't real, and how I'm the problem, and 100 other things and yeah... that was the last conversation before he ghosted me. I'm still bitter about it. Not about what he did (though I definitely had some strong feelings about how everything went down); my issue is how he made me feel. I have never hated someone before - and knowing that he took away my agency and innocence without trying to speak to me makes me jaded. I don't want to be a hateful person :( He already had everyone else under his thumb, and when I started to disrupt the Status Quo, he tried to "fix me". When that didn't work... oof. I probably have some level of trauma from how he treated me over many years. Edit: One good thing came out of this. I don't take shit from anyone, and I learned to identify some tricks that person used so I can avoid them in the future. Not saying this is a happy ending though lol

/genuine question, I don't really see the point in requesting commissions from minors. This may be my inner german speaking, but how legal is it anyways for kids to sell something online and recieve money for artwork? How do they do it? Paypal is 18+ no? It's just kind of hard for me to take minor trying to sell work to me serious if I am being honest.

I've had some toxic friends myself in the past. The last pair of toxic friends were especially awful in that they rarely insulted me to my face, but as it turned out they were talking shit about me behind my back. I had to learn about it from another (thankfully not horrible) friend.
