As someone who accidently stumbled across this community as a youngling I can confirm it was a very toxic place. I know some people just want to be ✨️quirky✨️ but it's literally the same as preteens+teens on tiktok now who do this stuff with mental health disorders that they don't even know what they are, how they affect a person, and how severely serious some of them are. It's especially harmful to people who may actually have that disorder that stumble across it, it's invalidating, spreading misinformation, and overall just hurtful!! While it may not personally affect me to see people do that stuff with BPD it is still obnoxious regardless and I can see how many people are hurt by it. Overall the MLP on literally any social media platform besides maybe some parts of it on DA were alwayd so so toxic but Instagram and Amino were definitely the worst of it!!

I've been in the MLP community since early 2011 (still am today; how am I still sane lol) and believe me, I have seen SO much shit over the near 12 years I've been in it. People harassing artists for having alicorn OCs, for having similar cutie marks, designs or colours, for having their OC being the child of or part of the Mane 6, things like that. And of course, the blatant theft and accusations. It can be a nice community; I've met some really chill people in it, and I met one of my best friends through the MLP community. But holy fucking shit, it can be so AWFUL.

I was in the mlp insta community in from like 2014-2016 and it was so bad LOL. among others, there was an adult person who had a group chat full of 12 year olds like me where they'd constantly beg for free art and claim slenderman was out to get them, as well as suicide baiting all the time. pretty sure they actually were mentally ill but that's no excuse to suicide bait pre teens on mlp insta

something kind of really concerning I see in the dA mlp community (or maybe the mlp adopt community in general) is that people make adopts that look like fusions of two characters, which is cool, some of the designs that come out look rlly nice imo, but its weird that they call them “ship adopts”, insinuating that the adopt you’re buying is some sort of love child?? which is concerning because sometimes the two characters being “shipped” are adult and child?? no one seems to comment on it so idk

The first and only time my art was stolen, was from when I was 11. It was a really funny story. Basically, someone did a personality quiz with the "most popular Brazilian MLP OC's", and mine was there so I've got so happy about that. However, some girl was downloading the images from all the results and was claiming them as her own OC's, including mine. I've got so mad...fortunately the admins of that group helped me out (it was on Facebook btw).

I was obsessed with that show when I was like 6 and the stuff I saw online is the reason I don't trust full grown adults who are obsessed with shows made for little kids. The amount of adult content people would draw of a KIDS SHOW was disgusting and no 6 year old needs to see that when they just want to see pictures of their favorite cartoon horse. And the people who would draw content of a kids show and then get mad when kids interact with it are so dumb, if you only draw stuff from a show made for 5 year olds of course little kids are going to see it and interact with it.

As an artist, blacklists can be used as a way to prevent commissioners who are either scammers or the artist doesn't want to do business with (be it because of the commissioner's ideologies or negative interactions with said person). Similar to a buyers beware/ artists beware post. It sounds like this person (the pose theft girl) was just very insecure about her art and used a blacklist like a mean girls burn book.

First, I love how to comment, we have to agree to be normal lol But also, I was in the mlp fandom, but not so much anymore. If I wanted to give my character some kind of condition (excluding injuries, deformities, and other such things), I would stick to only what I have, so I can write/roleplay accurately. @@vampiebat I’ve seen so many people make characters with ocd, but their only sign is just that they like to keep things clean and organized I’m pretty dang sure that’s not what ocd only does I mean, I used to jokingly say I have “rainbow ocd” because I would organize all my stuff in rainbow order, until I was told by my parents that that’s not how ocd works and it was rude to say Then I felt like a idiot (then again, I was like ten. Definitely an idiot at that age lol) But to do that now that I’m older? Hell no. That’s just cringy The most I have that’s characters with any kind of conditions that aren’t just blindness or other things like that are two Warrior cats oc’s: One, with adhd based on my own experience. Only things she has I have And the other, which I came up with in the middle of the night. He’s basically schizophrenic, hearing and seeing things that aren’t there constantly, which slowly turns him against his clan and friends. But for the last one, I didn’t even realize until the morning that it’s an actual condition, as I was tired lol. And before I even do anything with that character, I will be doing some research on schizophrenia, to make sure I portray it accurately

Joining Twitch and trying to be apart of the pixel art community there I was met with similar experiences. I will admit guilt and tunnel vision on top of trauma dumping but having one argument with a streamer got me black listed throughout most of the community. My only sin that started this conflict was me breaking stream etiquette, I was excited and I want to make friends and share my ideas but I was shoved off and blocked from everyone because of it, put on a list.

If I'm honest I've been in the MLP Fandom for over 12 years, and although I was never majorly involved in the Instagram community as much as in the other platforms, there was only one case that ever stuck out to me of someone I followed for their cute pony art. I loved the community on KZbin, with all of the Audiodramas etc, and I liked some creators on Deviantart as they were very helpful, but the only time I followed someone on IG I immediately saw drama just a couple of days later... when the god damn queen of England died?? a *certain* creator was going on about how if anybody feels bad/sad/upset that the queen has passed they need to block them asap, and they were writing their heart out with over 55 stories full of paragraphs calling the queen slurs and every swear word in the book for every single reason they could think of and it was so damn toxic?? Like how are you going to have a fanbase of over 5k people and act so immature about something just because you don't like somebody... people are crazy

one of my best friends is really close with a mlp instagram person, and I don't like her that much, she's not the worst person but she can be pretty toxic sometimes, and one time she added me to a groupchat with her mlp friends and there was So. Much. Drama. Like every other week they would vaguepost about each other in stories and arguing all the time. ALSO yeah some of them were really... idk glamorizing depression? The friend of my friend used to spend some time in a mental hospital and take meds and some of the people in the groupchat would try to make her stop taking meds and going to checkups because "that would change her". Also when I mentioned one time I was in the process of getting adhd meds, finally, they just kinda... yelled at me for an hour asking if I hate people who can't get diagnosed and that's why I'm bragging about it??? Weird fandom for sure, but I guess I'm glad it's not just my friend being unlucky, it's the whole community (or not like glad, but still good to know that it happens to other people too) ...and yeah I witnessed some grooming too. in the groupchat.

Even though I'm a part of the MLP community and draw art of ponies, I don't go near that stuff and never have, I've seen how toxic and horrible the community can be and like I said, I don't go near that part. I'm not a part of that part of the community and never will be. Luckily something like this has never happened to me and if it does, I'm either gonna ignore it or block them. And by the way, no one can steal a pose 🤣 how ridiculous do you have to be to say 'your pony is reading a book?!? I drew that first so that pose is mine!' so dumb. I can agree their are some people who are bad in the community. But their are some very nice people here and their. I'm in the fandom myself but it's had its ups and downs. Almost of weird people and art theft. But I still like the normal people I've met in the fandom. I just try to stay away from the crazy part of the fandom. The worse fandom I've been in was undertake so to me it's honestly a cake walk compared. Also just to let you know not saying their not people who have a hate list .but for most artist including myself .black listing is for scammers and creeps most of use in a circle use it as a means to know who to stay away from. Who not to take commission from etc . But anyway I hate that you had such a bad time in the fandom. I'm sorry you had to go through all that as well. But anyway I love your character is so adorable and I love you art .I hope to be able to get a commission at some point got to save up.

As a person who used to be part of the mlp community I can say that... it's toxic - Especially when it comes with the antagonists of the show. The most popular antagonists I'm sure a lot of people reading this know are Sombra and Crystalis ( idk if I spelled her name ok but idc) The amount of times people in the community shipped these two antagonists and posted things like "WhAt if X aNd Y ( mlp characters) HaD a BaBy? " Like - 💀 I seriously can't believe that a kids show became a fandom more toxic than the furry fandom. I just cannot -

your criticism of the artist posing as a Japanese person is valid, but I have one critique. Having broken English isn't a stereotype, It's just a common thing that happens to almost every person who is learning English as a second language. Especially when they first start. the same thing happens to anyone learning any language, its just a part of the process, there's nothing inherently racist about that. Stereotypes as well are also misunderstood. they don't fall out of the sky, they usually stem from cultural differences. for example, in China, its common practice to not give people room to merge into your lane on the road. so when someone wants to merge, they just go for it, and everyone is aware that might happen, so they react appropriately. Now in Canada, the common practice is to look for people wanting to merge, and leave room for them. There's no reason in that case, for people to force their way into the lane. so if someone from China is driving in Canada, if they want to merge into a different lane, to them, it makes sense to just go without signaling or giving warning. but to the Canadian driver in that lane already, they had no idea it would happen. Without the signal and waiting for an opening, Canadian drivers just assume Chinese drivers just don't know how to drive. Similar problems would arise if a Canadian drove around in China. Of course there are a lot of other details and nuances but that gives a quick summary of what I mean. 9 times out of 10 a stereotype is just a cultural misunderstanding. Not racism. What would be racist, is if she had been pretending to be confused by basic concepts and then blaming that on being dumb because she's Japanese. That would be a racist stereotype. Assuming someone from another culture is dumb is one of the few stereotypes that could be considered racist, or at least prejudice. It comes from people using simpler words when they speak a different language; and when they need to translate words in their head before responding, makes people appear less intelligent because of the pause, and sometimes lack of knowledge of the proper words. they aren't dumb, but they don't come across as smart as they truly are. so its extremely common in every culture across the world, to assume foreigners are dumb. That is pretty racist.
