Where did you buy your greenhouses? Also can we turn say a piece of land into a garden like this with no isssues? I was wondering how to go about it? currently i have a small garden in a residential area but looking to plant more fabulous plants like you are even if I have to sell what we now have to buy the land for growing our own food😅😂😂

Hi, that was a very well researched and presented video. Thanks! I am a fellow taro enthusiast, living in subtropical Australia. No one here really grows much taro but I have 9 cultivars which I am trialing this year. I am a bit obsessed with taro!

Thanks so much! oh what an amazing climate, def a taro enthusiast, how are they growing for you so far and any fav cultivars so far? i plan to make a traditional hawaiian poi table, we are just coming into spring and have around 50 plants in the polytunnel activly growing now and a few exciting new cultivars for this season too!
@dankslug4 ай бұрын
@Temperate2Tropical that's exciting for you! I look forward to seeing how your plants go this season. I have one variety which looks similar to the 'African' variety you have, and it has the largest corms I have had so far. I have recently purchased some of the bright pink stem variety, supposedly from Samoa, and a couple others, so time will tell how they are for eating. We are heading into the cooler months so I will be harvesting probably in winter. We only get a few mild frosts here so the growing season is atleast 9 months. Taro is going to become more and more important from a food security perspective, I think

That's so depressing about the planning permission. They'll always find ways to disguise their motivations or pretend there's a good-faith argument to be had but the simple truth is that British people are highly aroused by spite and malignant pedantry. They simply cannot pass up an opportunity to wag their fingers indignantly and inflict arbitrary frustration, suffering and disadvantage on others (or each other) and I say this as an English man myself.

So most varieties can be grown in flooded and no flood conditions. The tolerance of rotting in cool soil varies a lot and if soil dries out during the growing season some varieties become inedible due to an increase in oxalate raphides.

Hi, I grow a lot of hardy tropicals such as musa basjoo, phormium, gunnera, bamboo (fargesia & phyllostachys), fatsia, palms cordyline, capitata and trachycarpus. Thankfully you have just shown my husband why I keep saying no to eucalyptus trees. I know they can be copiced, but we have a semi detached house house and garden. 😅 Great video and freedom to express yourself on your own land, in an amazing jungle. All the best, Jane

@@idjles No need for the negativity my friend! Far less oil and fuel than a large sawmill would have needed to mill if he brought the wood … and it would have probably been shipped in and transported from goodness knows where (more fuel), much more economical to keep things local… and the satisfaction level of doing things yourself is amazing too - what a skill ✌️🌿

Thank you for saying this!!!!! So many of us are disconnected from who & what we truly are, we've unknowingly become invisible cogs in giant wheel - forgetting our own wondrous selves, our dreams, our joys & awesome creativity inherent within each of us🥰 I'm finally doing what I love - left chaos of city life, living on remote island, creating food forest & gardens to help lead & feed my tiny community, renovating & rebuilding this tiny little tree-house/cottage/cabin, developing a deeper personal connection with wild nature & mother earth, leaving social games behind, looking for new ways of living, being & manifesting something better 💖🦊🦅🪶🌲🐝🌻🕷🌿🍎🧅🍄🍏🫐🍲🏞🌄🌌🎑🔮🪄

Hey Guys, ive realised over the last few years ive been so busy working building our off grid farmstead that ive stopped prioitizing time for some of the simple things that fulfill me the most, like going for walks in nature, writing music but the most prominant thing ive chosen is that ive stop meeting friends regually and going wild camping which is some of my best memorys and when im living in the moment the most! So this week i plan to contact old friends and arrange a camping trip with the boys, and after make it a priority to meet up at least once a month! i'll update when ive taken the 1st step and look forward to hearing from you too!
