Hi, my PS2 Slim cd drive spins both ways, is there a fix for this problem? I'm looking for a new motor anyways, but I can't find which one it is, I don't see a type number like which on the laser is written as; PVR-802W. It could be the flexcable of the motor, but it's soldered on the board and that's why I have to look for a whole new motor

Are you getting any movement from the laser, after the console detects the lid has closed it will try read the disc. If it doesn't detect a disc it wont spin.

Recapped mine and screen goes off and on and caps on power board are making noise.

Hi, sorry for the late reply. Had you any luck fixing this. The caps definitely shouldn't be making noise. Swapping the power board could be the easiest fix.

Some people have said they have used super glue and it has been fine but it's not really the right glue use as it can be a bit brittle.

@@Ishika007 I did this repair in the video around 9 months ago and the glue is still holding the screen fine. I really wouldn't be happy with that response from the repair shop.

I left the elastic bands on for 15 or 20 minutes just to make sure the glue was dry.

I have cleaned 3 times and it's spotless.the contacts are clean but I still get the "WT toner box ends soon " message. Does this message require a reset somehow other than a power reset.?

I replaced the laser on my slim about a month ago and I just realized that it reads PSOne games and DVD PS2 games just fine, BUT it won't read blue-backed PS2 games. Any ideas?

Normally the Laser's stop reading blue backed discs when they are starting to die. What you describe is normally the first signs the laser is failing.

@@arturomail I know it's a new laser but most times I change a laser it's because the console is doing what you described. Was the console reading any discs before the laser was changed. You could check the potentiometer on the laser with a multi-meter to make sure it is set to the right resistance.

For a 15 yr old this video made things so much easier and it works now thanks! Only problem is clamping the console back together the hinge in the back won’t tightly close all the way and the battery port isn’t aligned with the shell

It's hard to know without seeing the console but are you sure you installed the hinges correctly when putting the console back together. They are meant to be orientated a certain way.

😮 I was shocked I took my back cover on my Samsung Galaxy A21s and saw my hold screen is lifting out how is it possible did the glue just gave up and melted off

The glue just degrades over time, it is worth checking that the battery hasn't started to bulge as that would make the phone dangerous to charge.

Same phone has my mom and this just happened. We cannot turn the phone off at all, it's just black screen but it's still sometimes vibrating like it's reacting somehow. Will it help if we just glue it down?

@@GiovannaIwishyou Has the whole screen came off the phone. Do you think the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the phone could have got disconnected or damaged. My screen was still working so I knew all it needed was to be glued back down.

@@EasyConsoleFixes Not the whole screen, it still attached at the bottom. But yes I guess the ribbon is maybe even broken. Mom will take it to the technician today so maybe they'll try something. But thank you for your reply! I really appreciate it.

If its ejecting fine when using the controller but not when using the eject button it sounds like the mechanism is fine and the button is broken.

My oppo a77 did this the face came away from the base before I could take it back to the shop it had fallen to the floor and split apart the ribbon between both ripped in half. I took it back to the shop but because the ripping had broke the phone was no longer under warranty. I had to get a new phone and asked the phone company if they be able to download the data to a new phone. Their answer was they don’t repair phones I would have to go to a tech firm. Went to the tech firm the girl told me this was the first time the face of a phone has fallen off the base and quoted $80 deposit and then at least 3 weeks to be sent away to try and retrieve the data. Suggest I try a different firm. What I can’t understand is the face is in good condition it’s just the copper ribbon between face plate and base is torn. Can we replace the ribbon.

It really depends on the model phone you have if you can just replace the ribbon. depending on the how the ribbon connects to the screen, you may need to replace the whole screen now that the ribbon is damaged. A lot of phones will also need a lot of disassembly in order to get access to where the ribbon connects to the main body of the phone.

Depending on the model of phone yes you can do this to glue the back on. Most modern phones the back is just glued on. Just make sure the back didn't pop off because the battery has started to swell or distort.

If a console is not reading disc's cleaning the laser lens should always be the first thing attempted. Adjusting the potentiometers is really a last resort as it means the laser is dying and you are just prolonging its life.

The real issue is the rubber brand losing it's strength and shape. Cleaning it will only ever be a temporary fix. Replacing it is the only long term solution.

Same, but only top left corner. My phone had dead screen soon after I bought it and shop repaired it. I'm guessing after they glued screen back together, that adhesive is coming undone. Plus I've dropped my phone few times on carpet from hips height, but modern phones should be resistant to this type of damage.

If the console is not allowing the disc to eject it sounds like a mechanical problem. Does the console make noise when you try and eject the disc.

@@user-ot1jr2ej9n Unfortunately there is nothing really you can do except remove the Pokemon card. If you can see it through the slot for putting the disc in you might be able to get it out with a tweezers, otherwise you will have to take the console apart to get it out.

Yes double sided tape will work. The only thing with tape is it might still let dust and moisture into the phone.

what's the material used for solder on ps2 controllers? do any work as long as it's a strong enough material? if yes, then does tin work? unless it doesn't have the same properties as lead or other materials. i know it's pretty obvious but replacing ps2 joysticks is going to be my first soldering work so i have no idea about how this stuff works haha

All modern electronics use lead free solder but if I were you, especially since it's your first project I would use leaded solder. There's no difference in terms of strength but the leaded solder it easier to work with.

@@EasyConsoleFixes i see, my soldering pen came with tin so I'll try using that, also what would you recommend for flux (if it's necessary, from what i saw it's for cleaning or preparing the board for the solder i think?) and desoldering? i saw it was easier with a desoldering pump than solder braids but it might not always work

@@rayzojams Any Rosin flux will do really. you definitely want to use flux, you'll find the solder flows much better using it. Using a pump and then tidying up any left with braid is probably the way to go.

There didn't seem to be any issue with my battery, the glue just seemed to have let go. My phone is in a rubber case and gets dropped a lot so that could be the cause.

I went clockwise 1/8 turn, didnt work. Went another 1/8 and it worked! Just got my 24 year old ps1 from my parents storage and brought it back to life! Thanks!

It's not something I have done on one of these but have done it to a few DS Lites. It's fixable if the boards not damaged but what a pain in the ass.

Thanks, it worked for me for a few days after cleaning the waste (dust powder stuff), then got bad again. So I did the same thing again but used some towels and rubbing alcohol on the rollers. The roller was quite dirty as well. That seemed to fix the problem for me in addition to initially dumping the waste. Excellent detailed video!

Hey! I'm looking to get my 2ds repaired as it has this same problem! If i order a screen, would you be able to try and repair it for me? I will pay of course. I'm in Ireland too so thats handy enough. Just cant find anywhere that will fix them anymore... and the fix looks quite daunting...

Hi, no sorry I wouldn't be to do the repair for you. I think you will struggle to find someone to do it as you can see from the video it's quite a long repair and the potential to damage the console screen surround is quite high as it's glued together. If I was you I would give it a go myself, although it looks daunting, as long as you go slow and follow the steps you should be ok. I would just buy a replacement screen lens ( I have linked an Amazon one in the description) along with the screen. The repair is much easier if you are not trying to save the old lens.

From my experience it’s more worth it to import a Japanese console and take the top half of that or just put the board into that one

Yes you should, if the battery has swelled it's really not safe to charge the phone. If the battery goes it can easily start a fire.

Great video. For the T5 screw on the laser, I tighten them until they bottom out, then back off a quarter turn. I then spin the worm shaft with my finger to be sure it's not binding.
