Hi, a pretty useful video! Can you tell me how the thin lead connects to the thick inner contact(tube), crimping, soldering or something else?

I just bought a pair for 10£ from a local carboot sale. It’s not turning on, i got a similar power adapter from a Dell laptop. The power source it’s working. I opened the right speaker, nothing broken at the first look. When i connected to my PC, they appear in the device manager like 2-3 seconds and after disappear. Tried to update the firmware with the official app, they got detected but after some tries ingot the “failed to connect bootloader” or something like that. Should i try to replace capacitors? It’s worth? I just like the design, i might use standard cables directly to the speakers and use them as satellites on my subwoofer. Kinda sad to lost all their RGB lights, volume controller, etc

You can increase the amount of Kolophonium and Alokohol 1:1, so you get a bit more thiker flux to operate with. If you want to make it more like gel, you can mix some beeswax with the Kolophonium and then mix it with alkohol.

Really useful.. but I have to say.. that all I have done is use contact cleaner.. and spray with a small piece of plastic. NEVER needed to actually REMOVE the dial.. cheers..

Is it safe to take this voltage measurement from the speaker with a voltmeter to get a rough estimate of the voltage sent to the speaker. I guess I would have a looper running on the input of the amp to generate sound. Adjust the volume until I hear clipping and make the calculations based on the voltage reading I get when I stop turning the volume up. Is that safe for the amp? Think it would give a rough estimate doing it this way? I am trying to get the RMS of the amp so I can swap out the speaker, no marking on the speaker to indicate anything but ohms, I know the speaker is 8 ohms.

For anyone following this, be careful putting the little silver screws back in. The white plastic on the back of the mute button is very fragile and completely shattered while screwing them in. Now the entire jog dial does not attach to the keyboard. That being being said - the fix works amazingly. Before my volume was suddenly jumping to 100% every few minutes and now I can actually use my keyboard without worrying about going deaf. My ears thank you soooo much

That's not really a fix. It's a temporary solution because all you're doing is displacing the dirt that's not making it function properly so that when it gets dirty again it'll be twice as bad. 🤷🏻♂️ You do you. I'll do it the right way.

Hi, just want to say thanks for the video! it's really helpful.. Your method is really simple, I like it! I've been holding myself for trying this measurement because most video that i saw involves several devices like ampere meter, multimeter, oscilloscope, signal generator etc.. I never had oscilloscope in my life and as for now I can't afford OWON HDS272 like yours, can you advice budget friendly multi-function oscilloscope that able to do this measurement? what specification should I look? do you think something like ZOYI ZT-703S is sufficient? thanks!

Are you using rosin core solder in this experiment? I mixed up a batch and found no difference in the wetting and coverage with or without using the flux. Maybe enough flux in the solder core for good results. I would be interested seeing results with using non rosin core solder. Thanks for posting

You're a legend, thank you. I took the job wheel apart and sprayed it once, put the whole thing back together, and it still didn't work. Found one at Salvation Army for $24.99, they let it go for $18 because they lost the power supply. I got excited a little too fast, thought this thing was real vintage, LOL!!! Found a power supply for 10 bucks on Amazon. Unfortunately it did not turn on. Opened it up and saw that a few of these small cylinders (don't know what's called, are dancing around in the case. I'm not going to do soldering. Returning to the store, hopefully will get my $18 back. Boohoo...

Is it ok to use less alcohol and make it thicker? Can it be used to weet circuit legs so they melt when using heatgun? Also for soldering circuit legs using heat guns like you do with paste flux?
