amazing work, hard to believe this an actual reality, proof that given enough ram and storage anything is possible.. back in day when we had tape, this would have taken months to load i presume

The game runs on every MSX with 16KB of RAM. Back in the day it should have been a multiload game (exactly as it was on Commodore64). But back in the day we already had the megarom cartridge in MSX world (like many Konami's game) so it could have been possible and with zero loading time (as today)

TURRICAN is so legendary, i even played it - and TURRICAN II - a lot on my Amiga 500 😺👍🕹️. I have also played TURRICAN on my a little bit 😹 on my Commodore 64 😺👍🕹️. Greetings from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.

This is really good! Never expected a Turrican game for MSX to look so close to the Amiga version in style, nor play this well! Do you plan any QoL improvements (a la traditional hit points a la most platformers and later Turrican games), and infinite wheel options (or maybe the ability to refill wheel uses via items, up to 3 max), or maybe loss of the timer, kinda like a modern mode.

Yes, and all without any added hardware. The use of a megarom cartridge (already available in the eighties) I was able to put ingame music and this high quality sampled voice. The sample itself occupies 128 KB 😉

I am not sure you can call this Turrican, because of license issues. Have you looked into that? But maybe under Thurrican (Thexder+Turrican). There is also a pc version called Hurrican.

@@marty9248 I have already had a contact with Julian Eggebrecht, of Factor5. They allow me to develop the game and when the code will be complete we will talk about a release. Only then we will know if I will be allowed to publish it or if I will release a new game using the same engine (but I prefere of course the first option)

Thank you. Yes, you can choose from 9 famous MSX/MSX2 games pictures and the size of the grid (4x4, 5x5, 6x6, 7x7). There will be also an easter egg (or more? This one belongs to File-Hunter). I have updated a bit the game, now instead of a "pointer" you have 4 edges around the tile you are about to move

Love watching, hardware exploited to its limits, this engine could fit Sonic pretty well kind of what if Sonic The Hedgehog was on MSX, the platforming, the scrolling would fit good enough.

The map is available, the character definitions too. You can found then on a char/map editor example files that are rips from C64 games. The tool infact is dedicated to develop on C64. Its name is charpad (google it and you'll find it)

Bullets collisions. Now you can kill the enemies and they won't appear anymore in the map. Unlike the C64/Amiga version, only killed enemies disappear. The ones you simply push out of the screen (and also extralifes, gems and unsmashed bricks) will be there if you return in their locations

It gets much better and better 😺👍🕹️. The MSX version of TURRICAN looks absolutely brilliant 😺👍🕹️. And the soundtrack 🎵🎶 is awesome 😺👍. Also, i got this retrospective feeling, that i want to switch on my Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 and play the TURRICAN games, again 😹👍🕹️. Once again, this video deserves a big retrospective like 👍🕹️ from Vantaa, Finland 🇫🇮.
