You are saying that you are going to build to the Ontario Building code and you have a saw mill. Just to be clear in your situation I would mill my own lumber to build my house if I had that option. But in order to build to the code you are required to build structural with stamped lumber.

can you tell me what is the main reason that push you to get away from civilization ??? you need services ,,water sewage not to mention electricity ,,then the young kids schooling ,,your health services , groceries ,,etc ,, so in short what push you for this weird "privacy"??

Our goal isn't to get away from civilization... it's actually to be self-sufficient... there's a difference. I feel like you haven't been watching our videos, but you can watch them and learn more about our plans and you would know that having a piece of land and being self sufficient isn't that "weird" and its actually a pretty smart idea... we have solar, which gives us energy... we have all the amenities with being off grid... we have unlimited water as we have a well. A city in Canada actually stayed weeks without water... we don't have to worry about that because we have unlimited water by digging our own well. We have health services and grocery stores about 20 mins away, and our kids are part of amazing groups and extracurricular activities that they do every month... I'm not sure where you heard from us that we are away from civilization... so I guess it doesn't seem so weird having some privacy and wanting to be self-sufficient... I think what is going on in the world now a days is what should be considered weird... thanks for stopping and watching... hope you can catch up on the videos to learn more about this not so weird lifestyle!

Totally resonated with everything you said, Canada is messed up, not to mentions the insurances are so high and accountability is zero when time does come. Everywhere is struggle nowadays, convenience is at the cost of peace and humanity, accessibility is at the cost of human threats, mental health is for sure worth saving above all.

Congratulations on your beautiful land. Are you guys able to get an address on this property to use on your drivers license and insurance? I can’t get 911 numbers on my property in unorganized land and the property is right on hwy 17 Do you need to inform Ministry of Natural Resources for what you planning to do on there or any other?

@stardust4566 hi!! Hope all is well! Thanks for the kind words. Yes, we can get a 911 number ... you have to contact the nearest fire department and they can instruct you on the next steps (that's at least what we did) we don't have 911 number yet because we would have to widen the road for us to get one and it would put more eyes on us... but the fire department knows where we are located in case of an emergency. We do have our address which is coordinates on our drivers license... so we went to service canada and we showed them the papers that we purchased the land and title on the property... but make sure you get a p.o box first... go to Canada post and they should give you one for free once you show them the papers that you own the land. Service canada adds the coordinates and p.o box to your drivers license. We didn't have to contact the ministry of natural resource. Hope this helps!

That's a crazy idea It is too difficult on the kids. and not fair to them. this summer my kids are close to your kid's ages they have been going to many fun places via summer camp programs.

If you watch our video, you'll see and know that our kids love it, and this actually feels like a never-ending vacation for them and cry when we have to leave our land or trailer. We actually mention this in the video... but maybe you missed it? Our kids are also going to soccer camp this year for 2 months and are having a blast! We are currently on a road trip, so this summer has been one for the books... our kids have been enjoying not only their summer but their life in general :)

Good luck up there! Took a trip through northern Ontario back in 2000 with my new wife who grew up there. The mosquitoes, blackflies, and other pests damn near killed me. I’ll take crowded Vancouver anytime over that. I definitely don’t have what it takes, but I’m enjoying your adventure vicariously! Congratulations!

A terrific video.We retired to Manitoulin Island 4 years ago.We bought 50 acres with a house to renovate which we have done.We have dogs and we laughed when you talked about your dogs staring and in serving you Ours do the same.They like to stop and eat grass next thing there are bugs all over us lol Thank you for not leaving your dogs outside.They would be heartbroken and as you said not safe.We love following you and your beautiful family on your incredible journey.

I just bought 160 up Northern Ontario the whole purpose was cuz I could do whatever I want with no bylaws. $60 a year and land tax the only land I think I might always be able to afford to own. Tax on the house I'm in in Southern Ontario $5,000 a year and I can't do anything on that land without being extorted for tens of thousands of dollars in permits. PS if you're worried about buying land that might one day be incorporated into an organized Township buy land in townships where there's only very few parcels private. My parcel of land is one of the only two private parcels in the whole Township there is no way it will ever be organized no Township will Incorporated cuz there's only two parcels to charge taxes on and they'd have to provide services to the whole Township which would cost them more than the revenue they could ever get back
