We are in our 70s and we watch a lot of homesteading channels and it is heartwarming and sometimes sad to see the struggles they go through. Both of us were raised in the country and have lived in the country most of our lives so a lot of things they are learning are second nature to us. Thank you for sharing your experience, hopefully it will help others looking for a home in the country.

Major congratulations on this journey and moving forward with your dreams. My husband and I are planning the best way for our exit from the city as well. What are your thoughts on leaving Canada in general?

Hi! Thanks for watching and the kind words! We did think about moving out of Canada at some points. But decided to stay... just due to personal reasons and what was best for our family at the moment. By all means, Canada isn't perfect, and it's been hard here, but every country has its set of challenges, unfortunately. Wish you all the best on your journey!

Obviously it is not for everybody but I have never lived in the city so to move there I would need to be educated too, so works both ways. Being self reliant is an awesome feeling but most people are looking for an easy short cut.

Thank you so much for watching! :) Since you are thinking of retiring, I would see how much you can afford and you still be in the country but not too far since you do want to retire. If you have family near it would be nice too. My parents are retired and they decided to move from Toronto to up North to be close to us and also be debt and mortgage free. Hope you are able to find a place and enjoy your retirement!
