For powering the Quad Cortex? Yes, you can use the original adapter included with the QC by using our IEC MOD and NEMA 5-15 adapter. You can then zip tie the adapter and cable slack under the board. A couple other brands will work if you can bridge enough channels together to get 2A of current. Walrus Audio’s Canvas Power HP has a high power output that you can set to 12v.
@stevethebeeline4415 күн бұрын
Power query! 4 outputs of DC7 (660x4=2,640ma) would power the QC. Instead of the Crux couldn’t you use x3 current doublers??? Ok 53:40 you used that option and it worked but just find the Crux more streamlined.
@templeboards15 күн бұрын
Yes, you can use (x3) Cioks Flex 8800 Parallel Adapters to bridge four channels (set to 12V at 500mA) to one at 2000mA. 2A is enough to power the QC.

I’m not the most tech savvy, why add the midi and xlr mods if the QC already has all the existing inputs and outputs?
@templeboards17 күн бұрын
Main reason is to keep connections tidy and easily accessible. In this case they’re running loom with all the cables wrapped together. It also saves the jacks on your pedals from plugging in and out as often.
@BulletRohmance17 күн бұрын
@ I guess that makes sense. I plan on building this board without the midi mod because I still don’t even understand how midi works lol
@templeboards17 күн бұрын
If you don’t need MIDI then you don’t need MIDI! Start without it and - if you ever need it in the future - you can always a Punched Plate and MIDI connector (or two).

@@templeboards Thanks for the replies! Would a full size Crybaby or Mission Engineering expression pedal fit on this board?
@templeboards17 күн бұрын
No, you’d need to go up to at least a DUO 17 (or bigger) to have enough depth for a full-size wah/expression.

The only purple cables I see are in the animation (non-existent). The red, blue, and black longer instrument cables are Runway Audio. The shorter flat cables are EBS Flat Patch.

What do you recommend for a EVH Flanger pedal? There is two battery compartments on the bottom of that pedal which makes it a bit challenging to install plates.
@templeboards2 ай бұрын
I believe you can completely pull the battery compartments out and bridge the gap with a Large Pedal Plate. Maybe send a photo of the bottom to us via email: [email protected]

GREAT video! Have a quick question - why do you have to use the CRUX? I am curious if you could just set one of the 7 channels in the DC7 to 12V and run a power from that to the QC?
@templeboards3 ай бұрын
One channel on the DC7 doesn’t supply enough current. You could either bridge four channels to combine the current or use a Crux.
@DiegoScagliariniАй бұрын
@@templeboards you can use 3 parallel adapters to connect 4 outlets into 2, and then those 2 into 1. You'll have 12v DC with more than 3A for a very cheap price... instead of buying a 80 bucks Crux. Or even better, since you are not using other pedals, why not saving another 250$ by just using the provided power supply? 😅 I don't really see the point of spending more than 300 bucks for, in this case, a useless power supply.

@templeboards3 ай бұрын
Touching on pedal order is all relevant for understanding why one would use an fx loop. Reverb before a distorted amp gives you distorted reverb. FX loops solve this issue. The bulk of the video is talking about how to connect/use an effects loop. (starting at 1:55)
