Happy new year! One thing I wish you guys would consider: more size options. For example, there's a pretty big jump from Duo 24 to 34. It would be great to have something at the midpoint there.

Thanks for the feedback! If you REALLY need a size in between you could cut a DUO 34 down. Email us for more info: [email protected]

Why not just use regular velcro instead of the Expensive Proprietary Mounting System that requires you to purchase a plate for each pedal, is ultra-finicky to remove, and offers no benefit over velcro? Does any have a Temple board and just use velcro? And would you say that the Temple board is good value for money compared to boards with similar surface area?
@templeboards8 күн бұрын
You can definitely use Velcro if you prefer. Many artists prefer Quick Release for a tidy, square board. Pedal Plates can sometime be a bit finicky to remove, but - once installed - rarely need removal. Velcro or Dual Lock works well! Some use other methods (like zip ties) on our perforated surface. Whatever gets you playing!

I used fishing line instead of a knife, very easy. Then Goo Gone which kinda sorta helped but not as much as in the video. Then lots of scraping with an old credit card. 15 or 20 minutes per pedal. More effort than I would have preferred, and now the room smells like Goo Gone!

I’m curious… how does the expression option work with the Dunlop? Wouldn’t it just be a volume/expression at the same time? I was hoping if you’d set it to exp1/2 then it would override it as a volume.
@templeboards12 күн бұрын
It’s one or the other. You set a switch inside the Volume (X) to either expression or volume (with tuner out). You can set the QC expression input to control volume on specific presets/scenes if you want to “switch” between expression and volume.

The real question is, why QC doesn't have a version with expression pedal builtin (like Headrush, or Helix) - this way whole this work would be unnecessary :)

Why use TRS on the XLR outputs, they’re mono? Love the vid, inspired me to build one albeit with a Duncan Powerstage 200, considering FRFR (hence the XLT TRS question) cheers 🤙
@templeboards22 күн бұрын
The XLR outputs on the Quad Cortex are balanced and have 3 pins. The XLR>TRS cables included with the XLR MOD allow you to fit the 1/4" TRS cables through the top surface of the board (XLR's don't fit). The back of the XLR MOD has 1/4" TRS inputs, but the front is adapted back to XLR again. [ SEE 3:07 ] TLDR; XLR connections are mono even though they have 3 poles. Your signal starts and ends with XLR.

Please update it to be a right angle plug and as low profile as possible to get power supplies as close to the back (or front depending on perspective) as possible I have a duo 24 and a voodoo power 3 plus and I have it pushed back against the power plug and it still doesn’t sit flush on the ground, it barely rocks back and forth pivoting on the front edge of my power 3 plus 😑😮💨 I’m looking on Amazon for a right angle IEC cable that isn’t too long and has an IEC on both ends so I don’t also need a IEC to NEMA adapter then NEMA to right angle IEC… come on guys! this one seems like an obvious problem that should have been fixed, I can’t imagine how bad it is on solo boards

Im a little late but quick question! What powercon cable do you guys use?
@templeboardsАй бұрын
To be honest, a lot of users use the IEC MOD instead. IEC cables are more common and affordable and the IEC MOD gives you the on/off functionality. I forget which specific Powercon cables we’ve usid in the past, but likely most choices from Amazon will work well: www.amazon.com/Monoprice-Stage-Right-powerCON-Connector/dp/B01NBYFOSZ/ref=sr_1_5?crid=CWLYWTDM6MD2&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.jytQGmYU2kVMNpz8G7-z897B01KBQ9qLjrqTRXUWrYAcU76WT3GdyuyqbNWiJHDwfDMRmuWlqwuY9imLU5eVqjenvlS3Bh7x0YsUCfa7NRpslgzFElmNsBh90v6JuFuyGYWiDpDB1UF1bUnNAaTniZRK40u5ba1vDM2urKxs-7l_oI7DfyFw2PRD4ccbn0wJ6nK4JL6OBhxRCcrDg1AQfLXkl5JSZ3Ky1QG0IdYklj4.IVEcaLLVWqTNUbTW4s_f3A8h2oAtlCGdjgRSoFwgqhQ&dib_tag=se&keywords=powercon%2Bcable&qid=1733842234&sprefix=powercon%2Bcable%2Caps%2C135&sr=8-5&th=1

Can the Dunlop x8 be used as a wah pedal along with volume with the Quad Cortex?
@templeboardsАй бұрын
When using the X8 as an expression pedal on the Quad Cortex, you can use it to be a wah or volume as well as control a ton of other parameters.
@damonculbertson7605Ай бұрын
I’m confused on how this is the same as using an effects loop. I don’t see how the amp signal is being sent to the reverb, delay, etc. It seems as if the time based pedals are still before the amp in the signal chain, and would be affected by the distortion, or any other effects, on the amp
@templeboards22 күн бұрын
The pre-amp section of an amplifier usually proves some level of distortion. The power amp section is relatively clean with higher headroom. Putting pedals in the fx loop places them after the distorted pre-amp and before the clean(er) power amp section of your amp. This way you distorted amp tone goes into your time-based effects instead of the other way around.

Any alternatives to the Cioks?
@templeboards2 ай бұрын
For powering the Quad Cortex? Yes, you can use the original adapter included with the QC by using our IEC MOD and NEMA 5-15 adapter. You can then zip tie the adapter and cable slack under the board. A couple other brands will work if you can bridge enough channels together to get 2A of current. Walrus Audio’s Canvas Power HP has a high power output that you can set to 12v.
@stevethebeeline442 ай бұрын
Power query! 4 outputs of DC7 (660x4=2,640ma) would power the QC. Instead of the Crux couldn’t you use x3 current doublers??? Ok 53:40 you used that option and it worked but just find the Crux more streamlined.
@templeboards2 ай бұрын
Yes, you can use (x3) Cioks Flex 8800 Parallel Adapters to bridge four channels (set to 12V at 500mA) to one at 2000mA. 2A is enough to power the QC.

I’m not the most tech savvy, why add the midi and xlr mods if the QC already has all the existing inputs and outputs?
@templeboards2 ай бұрын
Main reason is to keep connections tidy and easily accessible. In this case they’re running loom with all the cables wrapped together. It also saves the jacks on your pedals from plugging in and out as often.
@BulletRohmance2 ай бұрын
@ I guess that makes sense. I plan on building this board without the midi mod because I still don’t even understand how midi works lol

If you don’t need MIDI then you don’t need MIDI! Start without it and - if you ever need it in the future - you can always a Punched Plate and MIDI connector (or two).
