Soak the garment for about 30 minutes in just plain water before you dye it. Use a large enough dye pot so you can have it fully submerged and still have room for it to move freely (this helps with even distribution of the dye). Heat up the dye bath to the temp recommended depending on what dye you use, then add the sweater, and keep the heat going on low, with a lid on, until you can get as much of the dye absorbed into the fibers as possible. Ideally the water will be almost clear at the end, and your garment will have absorbed all the color. Good luck!! ❤

I always hear about fancy ways to cast off 2x2 rib transforming in 1x1 to make tubular cast off and I don't understand. Why not using the 2x2 tubular cast off? I use it everytime, I am doing it on the sweater I am knitting right now. I am sure there is something I don't know 😅 Anyway, I "discovered" you today and I already watched 3 of your videos. I love your vlogs! Ciao from Italy

Hi Hayley😊 This morning I had an exam so that meant that I spent the entire afternoon napping and then knitting and watching knitting videos that I saved especially for today, just as yours! I love love love your modified Moby sweater, looks like the perfect cozy cable sweater that live in everybody's dreams😍 and as for the yarn you bought, I love Drops yarns too! Infact I used Drops Lima just recently for a Salty Days Sweater, it has great stitch definition both with cables and lace, so I think the Ingrid sweater would be gorgeous with it🥰

Interesting idea to hold the CC double! I tried to knit a beanie with stranded colourwork and I did find that it having negative ease, the colourwork was kind of disappearing when the fabric was stretched out, but I never thought to try holding the CC double. I will give that a try next time!
@hayleys_space4 күн бұрын
let me know if it helps! I've found that all the fingering weight yarn I have and use is always just slightly different in size which definitely doesn't help when doing negative ease colour work!

for some reason it's not on ravelry! it's so odd! but you can get it from the mftk website which is arguably more accessible for most people :))

oh no, be carefull with those moths! Was the yarn in your stash before? Than I would freeze all of your yarns for at least a week or even longer. They also don't like heat! so you could also put the yarn in dark plastic bags and put them in the sun. I would also move all my wool around (including finished objects, yarn etc.) because they don't like that either.
@hayleys_space4 күн бұрын
they're so cheeky! I wish they'd just leave us knitters alone! I'm definitely going to do a big stash declutter soon and hopefully wipe them all out (if there's any in there)

I live in Scotland and her life is my dream too, I would love to run a wee bnb so I can bake and knit and just be a little tour guide for anyone who visited! Honestly, brings me so much joy to hear other people I watch, also watch similar people! I also was thinking my Christmas is watching polar express and drinking a hot chocolate, so we are matching across the world!! ❤

Hello! a tattoo on hand with birthdays dates are brilliant🤭i was laughing:)) As a seller, unfortunately i decided not to ship to Australia, because mail going like forever, and hard to track it, If to USA it go in one week. I'm wondering what kind of service woolyyarn using. Last year I knitted socks for Christmas gift in that dark blue color from Drops Fabel:) I am ready to start reading audio books: I am wondering where you can do this, so if I am in country where there is no libby library I can anyway listening this books? Closest place for me is in Stockholm, so I need to take Ferry, and have to travel across the bay :D Wow that was interesting podcast! so amazing:) I will take for you also to share what I am watching and reading:) Because I loved this part:)

you could try audible for audiobooks but they are a paid service so not quite the same as borrowing from your library. that's a shame it's such a long way for you to travel for books :(( I can't wait to hear about what you've been reading in your next video!!

Love these socks, and love the video! I'm currently on my third pair of knitted socks and I'm obsessed! I've just bought the colourwork cuff club!! So excited! I love the idea of the base colour being the eyes and mouth of the ghosties too

Definately be proud of those socks! You did a great job😍 Very clever to think of alternating skeins - it made such a difference. 🧦
@stamdl21 күн бұрын
Beautifully knit socks! You were smart to restart as soon you weren’t happy with the yarn was doing. I am doing this club too and the ghosts are my first colorwork sock. I wish I had thought to either use duplicate stitch or use the base color for the eyes as I really didn’t enjoy having 3 yarns going… I will keep that in mind for future pairs. FYI - I find Summer’s heel flap to be shorter than I’m used to as well and will adjust that in my next colorwork cuff pair.
@hayleys_space4 күн бұрын
congrats on your first colour work socks!! how did you go with them? I'm glad someone else feels the same about the heel flap I was worried I was just being delusional haha
@jennyenglish984221 күн бұрын
Great podcast. I have never used the different skeins for knitting in helping with pooling.I t was great to see the before and after as there was such a difference. Fab yarn also. I thought the ghosts were great using the same yarn for the eyes & mouth more subtle. Thanks for all your breakdown of your process. Have a great knitting week.

I enjoyed your week. While I'm no pest expert and will accept other ideas, I think you'll have the surest results if you freeze, thaw, and refreeze before using the suspect yarn. The initial thaw can be the trigger to set the eggs hatching and munching.
@hayleys_space23 күн бұрын
omg really?!! I have never heard this!! I might have to consider refreezing them again then!

Are those size differences on your scrubs the seam allowances that were torn off your original scrub garment?
@hayleys_space23 күн бұрын
yes I wasn't very accurate and precise when tracing and cutting out my fabric so the irregularities and mismatched edges are definitely caused by that!

the chilly dog has some great videos on picking up stitches at the underarms to reduce holes, so check her out. Your Cumulus turned out fantastic! The yarn looks beautiful and soft, and the colour is gorgeous! My Cumulus is sitting waiting to be frogged because it's way too big, but seeing yours gives me the motivation to get started on that so I can knit it again! The biggest lesson I have learned is that it really does pay to wash and block once you separate for sleeves...much less to rip back then if you need to!!
