Hey Jack do you have any recommendations for a boat mechanic around the suwanee/buford area? Also, when are you gonna get back after those stripers? Anxious to learn some new tricks. Old tricks will work too though!

It warms my cold heart to see "Ugly Stik" and "tuna fishing" in the same video 😂 Excellent video as always! Thanks for explaining the gear and technique. You're doing much, much better at fishing than many regulars here in Southern California. I go out on the Orange County, CA party boats once a month and you're definitely one of the better fishermen.

If you think you are a purist with iron and a coffee grinder you are mistaken! The coffee grinder and the popper is the only real ticket. Walking the deck with a jig bouncing all over is not a good idea nor is dropping bait and using it, unless it pretty much wide open like it was. Good luck enjoyed the video🎉

cool. Im from the north east coast and use only conventional reels for tunas. people take way (10 seconds)too long getting their live baits in the water. spike and bleed your fish, dont let them sit in the bag alive, its inhumane and ruins the meat. Deck hands and all people, please take a second and clear the deck of all slippery baits fish, dead and alive. there is No excuse for all those bait fish on that deck. that few seconds can save a persons life. Thank you

I switched out my feed popper trebles with single hooks, dont like treble hooks. will see how its works this year.
@1hotahi9643 ай бұрын
@11:27 thats where proper rail etiquette should be. You split two people and cast. Then you moved to your left going over the man and kid. Get in the rotation properly vs just casting where YOU want to. There was no real frenzy or tuna shuffle. Try that with 8 guys hooked up on 80-150lb fish and they won’t be nice. Still a good video👍

It takes them a day to find fish or is that the destination. The US Commercial fleet in Cali must be paying off somebody . Which is a given in that crime State That needs to be thrown out of being a US state they are so crooked. But there's not enough fish to even try to catch any in US Waters?
@bsd8583 ай бұрын
I’m confused what your issue is with the area that they are fishing 🤷🏽♂️
@theoriginalcaptjack3 ай бұрын
That’s the destination. The long range trips are just that and of course there are going to be more fish / variety and even better fishing in nutrient rich waters if they don’t receive as much fishing pressure - many variables. However the fishing is great in San Diego / LA etc right now bluefin are everywhere- in fact I hammered YFT in San Diego waters a day before this trip on 3/4 day trip. Great saltwater fishing in socal.

Why does it seem that there is always someone with their head in the clouds? At 52:02 the one guy has the courtesy to move. The other guy with his rear end on the rail, (Dont know if he is the capt or a mate) is oblivious that the guy is fighting a fish inches away from him. For the love of god, move away from the rail! Luckily the fish went left instead of right.
@dojo12493 ай бұрын
Now we gotta go dig it out-If they had a problem with the guy using a treble hook then they should have made him and others switch it out with a single hook before fishing it, they seen that popper many, many times that day so they cant hold it agaisnt the fisherman. Deackhands, its an occupational hazzard. But also people you don't use treble on headboats. Ps spike the fish while you have control of the leader. therefore, the fish before taking out the hook might be a better option, I do that so it works great.
@bsd8583 ай бұрын
That’s 100% on the deckhand. Been fishing sport boats out of SD for over 25 years and guys throwing the surface irons or yo-yoing always have big treble hooks
