Where is this beach???

Hey man love your videos. They have inspired me and i have started a nice wee agate collection. Do you mind if i head to this same spot im not a local there im from chch but have managed to work out pretty much where you were i think. I started small and am working back towards the source i have done birdling and about 10km of the beach north of rakaia. Now for the river beds then up them there hills 😂😂

Hey, Chris. Enjoying your postings. I'm heading down to the South Island with a party of students - 10 - 13 year olds. On the third day of the trip are heading from Lake Tekapo back to Christchurch and we are stopping enroute for lunch. Rather than heading for the swings at the Ashburton Domain, we thought we might have a picknic down by the one of the rivers en route. We also thought we might cast our eye over the shingle banks for some agates or similar. Would it be better to stop on the Rangitata or the Ashburton? I realise we have little chance of finding anything with only an hour stopover, but I think it would be good for the children to have a bit of a walk after being cooped up in the vans, and you never know. Any help advice welcome. Have tried contacting the rock and gem folk in CHristchurch, but no reply.

It was interesting hearing about the agates you have found on the rangitata. I have been going to the beach and just picking up interesting stones but recently have found some interesting stones and would love to know if I have picked up anything interesting. I have been to both the north and south side of the rangitata and just last weekend met a lady who new you. Did you live in Ashburton? I live in Geraldine but I love the Rangitata. I took a friend's children on two occasions and now they are hooked and the 9yr old has a good eye at finding the unusual. Could you put me in touch with somebody who might be able to look at what I have collected. Are you at the beach or up the rangitata river to find what you do. Would love to hear from you sometime if you the time. I love the Rangitata it has been a big part of my life. Kind regards.
