Hitting a lot of big ones here at Patricks Point in Northern California. Nothing like the thrill of the hunt! Nice agate you found!

Yes we are fortunate to have several different volcanoes producing agates, with each spot having some unique element :-)

It's so amazing to see the power of the ocean, how different the beach is each time. The spaceship agate was a fantastic find but I also liked the broken off chunky piece. Beautiful stuff, thanks again 👍🏼
@chalcedonychris7310
@chalcedonychris7310 4 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed it! The chunky bit isnt uncommon so I guess whats more exciting for me is something fully intact, as you never know whats in there. I love beach rockhounding, different every time

I got one as a gift and then I got a baby national geographic branded one used for $20. It works but its built poorly and often struggles with various issues

Could you please let us know where you went for thilose pink agates
@Doxymeister
@Doxymeister 4 жыл бұрын
Oh my, that is beautiful indeed. And the scenery is even more outstanding--no beaches here unless you count the lake nearby--just no crashing surf and seagulls, LOL. How do you know which way to cut the agates so they look so pretty? Is there a science to it, or just learn by experience? At any rate, that one was worth the trip, wasn't it? Woo-hoo!
@chalcedonychris7310
@chalcedonychris7310 4 жыл бұрын
its part guesswork and part experience. You need to figure out the orientation, and then depending on what you think might be inside from past experience, choose a plane to cut across. usually cut on the Y-axis, but sometimes its impossible to tell
