Very effective system to learning the notes and chords in the lowest strings

The triangles/rectangle idea works as-is between any two adjacent strings, except between the 2nd and 3rd where you need to adjust it.

Nice video. I realize the exception makes the rule, so its a fun fact that the great Jimmy Webb tells the story the song Wichita Lineman is in the Key of "F" yet there are no "F" chords in the song. James Taylor was learning it to record his version of the song and called Mr. Webb. He said, I thought you told me the song was in F??? Jimmy said yes, it is. James said, do you know there are no "F" chords in the song? Jimmy said, I'll call you back!. He apparently wrote it in F but never used the F chord. He never realized that!

Stop with using words like "hack" and "unlock" with talking about guitars, they arent computers, your fingers can go anywhere you want them to at any time!!! Its called 10's of thousands of hours in practice, thats how you get good, there is NOTHING IN THE WORLD that will get you to play better, no "tricks" or "hacks" or things to "unlock"!! It is and always will be PRACTICE!! It don't matter if you know exactly where to go and how to do it, you have to PRACTICE it over and over and over to get it smooth or fast or both, please stop trying to trick people with things they probably know already, I cant wait to put up my channel on guitar, I'm gonna show and play and talk about how to play the guitar the right way with absolutely zero "short cuts" bc there isnt any, you know this, you just want clicks for your sit on a stool and collect money channel doing something you would be doing regardless of youtube or not. Just like a republican party was made to fight against the democrats and their slavery, I have to put up a channel to fight against all the "short cut" guitar playing channels!!! Yikes! Telling people this "method" of knowing what key a song is in is just completely wrong. The real way is to simply look at the key signature. That is the key that the piece is in. Two sharps in the signature= key of d major. It's not that difficult. I always cringe when I see people like this "teaching". I don't even play guitar and I know the simple concept of key signatures. People, get a real instructor or at least a you tube video where you're learning properly.

You are confusing two different concepts. Explaining what keys are and how the circle of fifths can help you reveal the relationship between those keys and lead eventually to the amount of sharps and flats. And on the other hand which chords you can find in a minor an major key. The latter is always the same in any key. This tutorial is pointed at the beginner to get familiar with the types of chords in a key in a easy to understand way. Like I said in the video; after this you can dive deeper into the theory with a tutorial that I made about keys an the circle of fifths. A concentric way of teaching that slowly introduces more complex concepts.

Well in your video you clearly state "how do you know what key a song is in" and you proceed to explain an "easy" way to find out. This is what I'm referring to. The way you're "teaching" beginners is just wrong. I'm not confusing anything. It is you who is confusing people who want to learn the language of music. I made no reference to a circle of fifths. Although, If you are properly taught how to read key signatures, then you may understand the concept of the circle of fifths or fourths depending on key signatures with sharps vs flats. And while I agree with teaching the diatonic chords of major/minor keys, which all use the same logic, it is a disservice to people who want to learn music to teach them how to know the key a piece is written in using your method (which you should know is not correct and is not 100% accurate). And if you're trying to teach the diatonic chords in each key, or the method, then learning what key the music is in is definitely important to know. Otherwise you're doing a disservice to beginners who want to learn the language of music. My issue is with how you're teaching people to find the key of the piece by whatever the first or last chord is in the piece. You should know that that is wrong. Beginners learn bad habits/information, like you are teaching, that hinder the path of learning in the future. If you would've either left that part out or told people "go to my other video to know what key a piece is in", we wouldn't be having this discussion. I don't know if the rest of the video is accurate or not, I stopped watching after the part I've described. Not putting you down, just warning the beginners who truly want to learn music. Maybe it's a difference in teaching methods.

@@HeadbangoO what year it is is irrelevant. The language of music is the language of music. Like I said, i'm not talking about learning the circle of fifths. I'm talking about teaching bad habits/information, which is what you're doing in the beginning of your video. Misinformation is misinformation regardless of what year it is. And if students aren't going to come back after being taught, then they really aren't serious/determined in learning. I've stopped/refused to teach those "students". I've learned that it's a waste of time with those students. I only take my time to teach those who truly want to learn. It's not about money to me. It's about passing on the language of music to those who truly want to learn. If everyone quit when things got challenging, then there wouldn't be too many musicians around. Nothing is learned without being challenged in life.
