I wanted to find this video informative but have a few questions where I thought you were going to expand on. Re: maintenance, was hoping to hear what issues you’ve seen for this long-term review. You mention it’s more expensive, without context though it’s tricky to draw a conclusion from that. Also wondering what is the why behind not being able to stop off at a super-charger and charge the car for slightly Longer trips? I understand highway speeds deplete the range more, but is there some specific issue with driving 60-70 miles then stopping off to replenish the battery and continue driving? Or you trying to indicate it’s not worth it to you, to stop and charge along the way for longer trips? Appreciate the input, we’re considering purchasing a used one for mostly local-use 2nd car, but you’ve brought up some good points and some addl context would be helpful to me (and prob others ). Thanks!

Hi guys I am watching this 8 months after it was posted but I also have had many campers motorhomes etcetera and other trailers the thing is if you live in a very moist area the ground will do damage on chassis I have experienced same problem you're going through with a couple other my stuff come to find out you have to put a barrier between the ground and the bottom of the vehicle I personally don't think it was the one or two times that the trailer was exposed to salt guys I own 14 vehicles and they are parked on the dirt I separate the wheels from the ground by putting some boards down and also a sheet of plastic to reduce the moisture I'm telling you I think that's what it was it was exposed to a very moist area before you got it the other thing is I happen to be I have modified 4 x 4 trucks etcetera etcetera you can actually build a frame over the existing frame and then use what's left of the old frame to secure the new one well whatever you guys end up doing I wish you the best and may God bless you

Yes, I’ve heard Scamps come with wood or fiberglass bottoms. It’s ideal to have the fiberglass. Not sure how it would affect the axle…

EVs are so much more efficient that even tho the electricity is sourced the same as gas combustion (which increasingly is not as frequent depending how well you region is transitioning to renewables) your EV will still use at least 85% of that power. Compared to ICE which at the very best in a new combustion engine is only 30% and the older the vehicle is the worse the efficiency becomes as most older cars only eek out 17% if that. Of course the ginormous truck and SUV trends mean that people are buying using much more energy just to run their cars. But yes buying and repairing new of either type vehicle is up there.

This seem unusual, even for an exposed frame. Think about all the cars that don't rust out like that. I would bet anything it was parked over grass, which would have kept the frame wet for long periods of time.

I have been owning a Nissan 2012 Leaf since August 2011. I bought it brand new for 28K CAD after tax rebate, etc. It has been 13 years. It is a great car. It was built in Japan and imported to Canada. I have had zero problems in the last 13 years.ZERO!! I have saved thousands of dollars for the family. Battery got degrated badly as seen like other 2012 leafs. we were able to find the donor 62KW battery. we had to do some additional modifications shock springs and shocks are replaced as well. Now it has second life with 430Km range. Absolutely love this car. 372,500km ODO.

If you wanted range, maybe a Tesla would have been a better choice. I bought a 2018 Leaf for a second car, because it was cheap. But we use our Tesla for road trips because of the longer range and superior charging network.

@@Midwest.. That is true. My point was that you can't buy a car with a limit on something like range, then fuss about that limit later. I knew my Leaf would never be a road trip car. Even if the range wasn't limited, finding chargers with that odd CHAdeMO plug would be an issue. I don't know why Nissan continues to hang onto that plug when CCS plugs became the standard for a time before NACS. Sorry, got off on a tangent. My point is that when you buy a car, you consider all the features, then decide if it will meet your needs. You do your research, then make an informed decision about whether the vehicle you are considering will work for you.

You have no idea how the camper was treated prior to you owning it. I don’t believe it was anything you did, unless you drove through salt water and didn’t clean it. You can have the frame replaced, don’t give up on your scamp.
