Some great footage of a difficult time, I particularly liked the synchronised pick handlers working on a railway track, thank you for uploading 😁👍

He 114?
@michaelneuwirth341416 сағат бұрын

Naval aviation for Germany did not much improve from this point, not only because of the Z Plan's cancellation-but also because of Goering and his stubborn insistence that the Luftwaffe control absolutely all of Germany's military aviation-leaving the Kriegsmarine with little in house air power. While Germany did eventually get better airplanes for naval patrols than biplanes, not many were built and, in the end Germany's anti shipping capacities were mostly limited to whatever the Army and Luftwaffe had in surplus, the Stuka, He-111, and Condor.
Great pictures!!!!! But...... oú est le boche?????????? I see no Germans here!!!!

I was in St Malo this year and last. Stunningly beautiful old city on the coast. HUGE shame it was nearly destroyed in WW2. All people born die... and new are born to take their place. But that cultural landmark St Malo was irreplaceable. You can't replace that. They rebuilt it, and it still is a great place to visit - but it lost its soul in the allied bombings. I wish they should have just laid siege to it.

This is one of the darkest side of war. The german soldiers felt they were in a position to defeat the enemies. But they were overpowered, outnumbered and bombed into submission. I understand that the german soldiers prefer surrounding to allied troops such as ( British, American, French soldiers ) instead of the Soviet Red Army that were considered more brutal. The Soviet army are known for their gross mistreatment of german soldiers.

The war on the western front did not bear comparison to the war on the eastern front. Patton had no idea. Thats why he was silenced.

I had the privilege of spending a year (3/86 - 4/87) in the Pacific (Okinawa, South Korea, Philippines) and it was EPIC. The natural beauty, the people, their culture, the food...EVERYTHING...amazing. I could have spent another year standing on my head if I had to in order to stay there. Some of the nicest, kindest, coolest people too! Thanks for looking out for us Ms. Tamaki, wherever you are, that was NOT an easy job!

The Japanese you see in a group on the beach were found in a Landing Craft and captured by one Marine I believe. Don't they look pretty clean, their clothes as well. Several of them have on WHITE clothes, you would think if they were in bunkers or caves their clothes would be dirty and grimy.

Anyone have an idea where the locomotive servicing and roundhouse shots were filmed? This was a nice ‘find’. Documentation of how life was in reality is better that what Hollywood puts out. And yes, there have been great films produced but that cannot and should not take away from reality. Thanks!

The tank here is a Type-95 Ha-Go, which is pretty obvious. However what's interesting is A.the camo pattern, since it's quite unusual, idk if it's because it's faded since it got knocked out or something. And B. The unit itself: the 7th Special Navel Land-Force: Sasebo's tank unit. Which had 14 tanks. (Idk how the unit formation was but it's at least one company worth, since normal army formation company had 12 tanks as full complement. Maybe it's same here with 2 in reserve or it's HQ unit (2) 1st~3rd platoon (4) But Idk, I need to do some research on that. Another awesome video, I love that you keep posting these on KZbin, they really help, especially when you can't get access to them online yourself.

If I remember my history correctly. The Americans did not anticipate heavy resistance before the invasion.
@brianbaird15038 күн бұрын
incorrect, they DID expect heavy resistance as the Nips had plenty of time to fortify. However they miscalculated the ferocity of the fighters. And the unpredictable tide that worked against them.

The US Major General sitting in the jeep at around 11:30 is Major General Middleton. He had more combat hours than any other Officer in the United States Army. That's the 8th Corps. He's the guy sitting low, not the other Major General who is heavier set and seated higher. Look at Middleton's service in WWII, the guy was in practically every campaign you can think of almost.

Contrary to Eisenhower, who had no combat experience whatsoever before being put in charge of the whole allied effort in Europe, I couldn't believe it when I first found out about that.
