Content is solid. It’s difficult to get good explainers for electrical.

Well explained :) Can a two way switch work if the wire to the light originates at the first switch (active in) or must the wire to the light originate at the 2nd switch in the series? If you can what is the wiring configuration in that situation. Thank you.

Great vids. Any chance of showing how to wire an isolation switch for a GPO?

Hey mate you’re videos are the best I’ve ever seen there’s no Australian anything here!! You’re the man! Can you do one on sensors with live in/out with why! With wiring diagram with light switch included! Aswell as obviously the light and sensor

if you have a house that has a two way switch and one switch has a neutral cable on switch 1 but not switch 2 and you convert switch 1 to a smart switch and instead of closing the loop on switch 2, could that number 2 wire connect to the neutral on switch 1 so it could then become a smart switch also?

I got 3 bayonets that are daisy chained and it goes from 3x3 core, 2x3 core then 1x 3 core but theres a 2 core in the 3 and 2 and I can figure out why. They all work from a single switch. What are there the 2 cores doing?
@patconnaughton20273 жыл бұрын
from Main to switch to switch is Two Core and Earth Cable Live Neutral and Earth. And twin active connect 2 switches together, there are 2 set of cables here am i correct?
@allelectricalau3 жыл бұрын
Will be a A+N+E to each switch but the two way switchings second switch the hard active will go in a connector with another active that goes to the next switch somehwere in the house. The switch where the common terminal is being used to switch the lights thats where the hard active would be joined in a connector.

Thanks for the wiring diagram and explanation. I was a bit confused about how it's done in Australia. But it seems we have to run two cables from switch to switch is that correct? It seems an expensive way to do it...? Can we just run a single 5 core cable (maybe a three phase cable? Red, white, blue, neutral and earth or that's just not the way it's done?) Wouldn't it be more cost effective to just run a single cable between 2 way light switches then just loop feed to another switch using a twin and earth. Would really appreciate your feedback.

for the second switch, is the active coming out of switch 2 to the light a sdi? thanks mate
@allelectricalau2 жыл бұрын
No mate it's a Red Black and Earth. Also called a 2core and earth 1.5mm or 1mm gauage.

@@AnimeAthletics no its getting switched through switch 2 so its a switched active

Can the constant active come from the other end?
@allelectricalau Жыл бұрын
It can aslong as one switch has the switch wire in the common going up to the light and the other switch has the hard active in the common.

@zoltrix77792 жыл бұрын
Its exactly the same, there is simply a special "intermediate" switch mechanism on the twin active strap wire that performs a cross over when using the switch.

So if there is only one light in this circuit, the ANE can stop at switch 1?
@allelectricalau3 жыл бұрын
If your not trying to achieve a two way circuit yes. But power may still loop at the switch and continue to others within the house.
@c4az57b3 жыл бұрын
@@allelectricalau ok thanks. I think my next question has been answered below but to confirm my understanding of the diagram relating to switch 2 is that the active and the common are joined together in the one terminal?
@allelectricalau3 жыл бұрын
@@c4az57b No out of the common of switch two goes to the light active. The active that comes from switch one to switch two goes into a connector because that might join with another red active that supplys the next switch in the next room ect.
@patconnaughton20273 жыл бұрын
can you explain for 3 way switch?
@allelectricalau3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching! Video in the works for this! But basically there is a intermediate switch that goes in the middle between those existing switches.
@alexx175932 жыл бұрын
How do you know if it’s looped at the light or at the switch in an existing home.
@allelectricalau2 жыл бұрын
Pull a few light switches off and check. If you have a earth at the switch there is a very good chance its looped at the switch. If you have old switches on your architraves around your doors then chances are its looped at the light.
@pappas10002 жыл бұрын
What if you have your active and the feed to the light at the same switch?
@allelectricalau2 жыл бұрын
Need to run a twin active and SDI to the new switch from the existing switch. No need to touch the light.
