I think awd doesn't get enough love. It's not easy to drift an awd without gyro because it's much faster and takes more comittement to get sideways. However, I think it's a lot of fun because in contrast to rwd there is no assistance from a gyro so you are actually fully driving the car. It all comes down to skill vs having a good gyro and setup.

A guy at the track did exactly the same swap. Didn't feel any difference whatsoever. The steering restriction is based on gain. My Onisiki didn't want to transition and didn't allow much manual steering with 64 gain on transmitter but 57 feels perfect.
@DriftSpotLincolnАй бұрын
Yes to a point. But no end points if your controller is cheaper, means over time you can damage servo. I think you can run higher gain before it happens on the yoko. I like the end point set. But agree that its splitting hairs. They don't sell that cheaper onisiki anymore. Shame. They were bargains!
@totallyrandomuser57608 күн бұрын
@DriftSpotLincoln I guess my servo is pretty strong because it lasted 5 years without end points. Onisiki has released an updated version with end points called Fukurou but it's a shame their gyros aren't sold worldwide. And there's more competition in that range from other manufacturers like Power HD that fill the gap in.
@DriftSpotLincoln8 күн бұрын
@totallyrandomuser5760 totally agree. The cheap onisiki used to be the go to for newbies. Now it's got more features but more cost, it puts so many other choices in the way.

I think if u training more u can take a 4WD to a indoor track.
@DriftSpotLincoln3 ай бұрын
It's not about your level of control. It's the way the car slides. It's lack of angle. It's speed is too high compared to rwd and therefore you crash into others. It's not the same and almost all tracks in the UK won't let 4wd in. Sorry if that's not the news you wanted to hear.

I just got the bug for this hobby after seeing 1 too many RC indoor drift track shorts. I picked up a Haiboxing 1/18 4wd drift car and loved it. I immediately after got a 1/10 kyosho fazer mk2 4wd drift car from my local hobby store and I don't regret it at all. I think a lot of people who remember owning an rc car toy as a kid think these cars are easy to drift; they are NOT. I've humbled myself many times this week on my 4wd. Build up to the 2wd proper indoor setup!

Im new to the drift car side of the hobby. Im leaning to 4wd. I will not be going to events or anythjng like that. All i have is pavement/asphalt/blacktop streets nothing smooth. Im looking to slid and just have fun. Would 4w be better than rw for these reasons? I see the rw getting stuck and just roasting tires.
@DriftSpotLincoln4 ай бұрын
Tbh 4wd is power sliding. Rwd is drifting. They drive totally differently. I know plenty who drive proper rwd outside and still love it. If its for fun. And you'll move on in 6 months. 4wd. If its more serious and you think you're going to get deeper into it. Rwd all day

Is there a way to set endpoints for the Onisiki? I’m having the same issue with the lockout, and setting the endpoints in my transmitter doesn’t limit the gyros endpoints.
@DriftSpotLincoln4 ай бұрын
Not the base model onisiki ally one no. The better onisiki models have a button to set it. Check your model. If its the one I had. No. You can set the end points on your controller but that's only your steering and the gyro still has 100% unless it has the feature. Thanks

Complete agree with this 👌🏼 might be worth trying the gear diff out of your yd2 in the Rdx. Helps with tighter corners 👍
@DriftSpotLincoln6 ай бұрын
Thanks dude. I watched your video! So I've already put my ball diff in for next week. The yd2 is already up for sale fully back to stock so the gear diff might go with that sadly. Way I see it is the ball I can setup depending on surface a little easier. The gear one although you say its better it's harder to adjust. I ran my gear diff with 150cst in too so it's probably similar to your thin oil!

its recommended to use graphite instead of carbon fiber for flex decks because cf has a tendency to "spring back" while graphite is more lenient during flex

What about using a rwd drift chassis with an AWD conversion. That d4 has an AWD version. Give it a gyro, locked rear diff, and one-way front diff. And they drive like beasts indoors. They drift really well compared to they're touring versions

They do indeed. Or did. Nowadays no-one uses 4wd indoors at all. Visit any circuit at all. But they were cool for sure, things have just moved on

It looks quit small? How much m2 are the track only?
@DriftSpotLincoln8 ай бұрын
It's not huge. We have done a new layout so when in comp mode you cross over and run parts in a different direction. In Normal mode its like a kidney. With movable islands now we can change shape easily and have tight racing. Some tracks are big and long and fast like Riga in DMEC, this is more like Ferropolis with walls and tight trains and close work. We plan to expand more. Its 9m x 6m

@PapaStingray no problem. Yes if anything 6m deep is fine. We would just like 10 or 11m wide. Wider would be better than deep if that makes sense.. Happy hunting!
