Thanks for this I’m currently trying to make a lip sync to Istanbul (Not Constantinople) kinda like those front facing music vids where they just zoom in on someone singing the song. Also a lot harder cuz I’ve never drawn let alone animated people before 🙂

This is an amazing video. I'm thankful that you mentioned something about flow state in achieving momentum and staying focused and efficient, and changing up processes if feeling stuck. Very helpful!!!

Yes! Sometimes your art perception levels up way faster than your actual skills, but it's a sign of a coming skill level up if you push through it c:

I don't have where to write it so I will give it a shot here. I personally started with very very bad mindset with making art. Since I opened KZbin as a kid and shared my drawings I craved attention and validation from others. It pushed me into the state where I started doing and getting better in art only because I wanted to be better than someone. I didn't compare myself to better artists but the worsen artist than me. It gave me a false sense of comfort for a short period of time. They didn't even know about my existence. I was just doing it privately to myself. But then one of them got better than me and since then I can't get over it. A strong feel of envy rotten me from inside and just then I realized the core of this. I realized too late that I heavily depend my love for art on others adoration or validation. If one person hates it from 10 who likes it. I'm gonna hate it too. My kid version from the past obviously didn't know that those comparisons were toxic back then. And now as an adult I can't get rid of it. And I don't know how. I know lots of artists would not feel the same way and those who do won't say it. Mostly because I wouldn't admit it myself. It's like admitting you chained yourself into a big rock and jumped into the river. It sounds so... Shameful. But I'm really sick of this feeling. This envy is mixed with self hatred and people pleasing. I just want to know that someone there or anywhere felt the same way and get through it. Or feel. I don't want to be alone in it.

This is the second video I have gotten on this subject. I often have these periods of 2 weeks to 4 months where I am unable to do anything I like; draw, write, sing. Nice advice, thank you, Im currently going through one of those periods, and this was nice, thanks.

Mine makes an eyesore look beautiful. I can't seem to draw the exact art style of G4 MLP which is what I really want to be able to draw like and its frustrating when it looks like it should be simple. 😓😓

I love the example with the creature but for some reason to my brain the circle example just doesn't work, A doesn't look smooth, it looks snappy

I don't hate my art but... When I do art that is for me, I lose time that could be invested into making art for others and get some buck. I'm a slave to art nowadays. That's my energy about doing art right now.

When you enjoy doing something you most likely do it more often and you will improve. Of course sometimes you have to do some studying and practising but it's totally okay to have fun with your art! I love looking at my childhood art works because I can see how passionate and free I were and as an adult I try to find that spark again.

Honestly if I have to give advice I have to use the motto of meet the Robinson: keep moving forward. Trust me I’ve drawn since I was a kid and I think from 2014 to now it can prove that you art can eventually get better. Yeah sometimes I can be critical about my own art but the more you practice the better your future art becomes.

Aside from having the will to improve, it's ultimately about enjoying the whole process. If you expect to have fun with the process, you *have* to love what you're creating.

A lot of this is really good advice, especially the part about finding someone who is more experienced. Honestly though I've been having a hard time finding other artists in general- It sucks being so passionate about what I do and having some big expectations for myself, including long-term projects, and yet no one to share any of it with or discuss my ideas.

When I first started making art in October of 2021, I loved some bits of my art and also hated some of it. The way that I looked at my art definitely pushed me to improve my art to what I make now.

This saved my animation life by making smooth animation with less frame and less frame rate. That makes my animation finished faster.
