This is a really good review! It's hard to keep all light and shadow concepts in your head AND render at the same time so thanks for making things easy to understand and retain 😊

My art skills have been increasing a lot the past few months and I wanted to add light and shadows to it! This was an artsaver! The end result was amazing! Thanks for more tips!

2:45 I am guilty of both practices in the same artworks. I do cell first, then a layer of pure shadow, and a separate one of pure light. I erase where it's not needed or too bright.

How are you getting the gradation on the fly?

I slowed it down to see how you implemented these steps into your painting. Spent a whole day trying and restarting this phase of a painting. I'm going to try it again once my winter break starts up. But from what I've seen... You used a brush (not sure which) and probably changed the pen pressure to have softer shadows. Im guessing you also went from a lighter grey to a darker grey, combined with the lasso tool to get sharper edges. Have to ask, did you ever use the blending tools to assist you, or were you just using a brush with soft edges alone?

Thank you for the helpful video! However, I do have to ask (since it is not clear in the video), are you starting with flat colors, and THEN doing flat shadows? Or are you doing the whole grayscale method where you start with shadows FIRST and then paint the colors on top?

People don’t like this movie because the of allegory of black people being predators. Which I can understand why they wouldn’t like that, but the two terms in different contexts have vastly different meanings. They also say that irl ppl have no justifiable reason to fear/ hate black people, but in the movie they could literally be killed by predators. Which is understandable. But also, irl black neighborhoods were targeted by drug dealers to make them look like barbarians. Hmm, sounds familiar. What they kind of forget is how an allegory works. Think animal farm, the allegory for people under a dictatorship being uneducated is shown as animals being so stupid that they can’t remember more than 5 letters of the alphabet. That doesn’t mean those people are literally stupid. Overall I disagree with all these complaints 🧍🏽‍♀️
