maybe a person just has to grow up with money, but I would not trade my favorite kitchen for any of these.

You need the wood to over lap the sink so there is no where for the water to pool. Then you can hide a bead of silicone under there. Then waterlox or rubio the wood. You can't just use oil by the sink. Use a darker wood to show less stains and keep a piece of sand paper on the drawer. Also if you do want to oil use the one with the bees wax blend. Treat every day for a week or so then a few times a week then every week for a while then every month. After a year you can go to less frequent treatment. My butcher block looked amazing after 5 years.

Well many don't have a choice. NO gas here so it's got to be induction. It's better than the heating element ceramic hobs, but give me gas anyday if I had the choice. Plus induction is poor for carbon steel pans unless the entire pan is covered by the coil, as they tend to warp and then spin and you get poor heat distribution. My new cooker will arrive with the entire hob as one coil that will heat more of the pan. And no true copper pans, then the addtion of a conversion plate defeats the object of having copper

I've just extended and refurbished my kitchen. Colours I chose were breakfast room green wall cabinets and sink run and island then slipper satin tower units. Worktops are matt off white quartz with some grey veins. Taps brushed steel. Hob induction black on the island.

Hello, I have an L shape kitchen ( with an island) and my stove is closer to the corner where there is no cabinet on the side wall. I have the recommended minimum counter working space between the stove and the side wall. I am concerned there could be cooking splashes on that side wall. Should I continue the tiles onto the side wall only for the space between the countertop and upper cabinet for the depth of the counter top or should I tile the entire height of the side wall ? Thanks for your tip, really appreciate it.

Another great video, and lovely kitchens. I'm wondering if large stone islands need special floor reinforcement (in an apartment building for instance). They look very heavy, though gorgeous.

I have no idea why you talk about corner cabinets as if you were talking about the plague... I've had corner cabinets all my life, and only recently got a kidney shaped pull-out and in all seriousness I think I prefer when I had no _"optimization"_ system because now I have effectively less useful cm3 because I can't simply leave stuff as they "fall", I have to account for the pull-out mechanism and nothing falling over or getting stuck... before I would just leave those things I rarely use in the blind corner and have the things I use the most in reach.

Hi, good advice, thanks. I am planning a black shiny worktop for over base units (no wall cupboards) and peninsular (main working area) how would you light this to avoid/minimise glare from the lights? Thanks

really thought-provoking. Had in my head strong bright contrasting colours for my small north-facing kitchen but I now understand the downside of this. Thank you.
@user-vw5ge8ub4w16 күн бұрын
some very nice looks but nothing for a small kitchen in a north-facing 1930s flat. I believe that strong bright colours work best in rooms with less natural light as white feels too cold and dark is, well, too dark.

Love this. Provides me with some pointers. Definitely favour the Japandi, mid-century modern and biophilic styles. One thing: there's a quite a lot of flashing/flickering in the video. Not sure what caused it ...

Who knew designing a new kitchen would involve so much? I've worked on the new floorplan/design for about 5 months now. (it's a substantial addition) It will be an L shaped kitchen with a 10x4 island. Deciding exactly where windows are placed, appliances, etc plus choosing cabinets, counters, lighting,..... Now I understand why people hire kitchen designers.

I don't like the fridge placement. When you're cooking and need something you have to walk all around the island to get it. If the fridge was placed where the shelves were it would be easier acess. Also when you bring groceries in you can put them on the island at the and unload easier.
