Glad you enjoyed it and thank you! I used an action camera, very similar to a GoPro - but it's he DJI Osmo Action. I think it's since been succeeded by an updated or revised model. But still works well for me.

Hi Olly, this was truly an epic hike and you showed some great fitness and endurance there! I know the area reasonably well, I have done 3 shorter hikes on and around the area of the ridge. It’s beautiful and awesome and I really enjoyed your commentary. When you showed the map section I paused it to look at the route and I did laugh to myself thinking that off piste descent section off Craig Cwm Sylin could be pretty rugged and scary (I was right lol 😂😂😂). Good effort though, these experiences improve our skills and endurance. I have ascended that section at the end from the Cwm Pennant car park up to the forest but we went up that Alpine spine section to the one of the ridge summits. It’s stunning that route and fair play to you a hefty second big climb with tired legs! Enjoyed every much, catch you soon! Adam

Hi Adam, Thanks very much for watching. I really appreciate that and glad to know you're also familiar with the area. You weren't wrong at all!! 😳 I'd wanted to trust in the route I found online, twice... But quickly realised it wasn't going to be easy! At any point! It was a great day out overall and I'd love to repeat parts of it again another day. Happy New Year to you and thanks again.

@ you’re welcome was an awesome video and gave me some inspiration to go back! When I plan off piste routes now I have been using Google earth alongside the OS map as often you can see paths on there and helps assess it something looks passable or not. It’s been good most of the time but still get unstuck at times despite this! Have a great new year too. Best wishes

I missed this one Olly - superb outing! The start was a dream - nice and calm with good views. You got it for most of the day. Loved the snack bar (that was sweet) and narrow paths - a bit dodgy going down that boulder field. Once in the valley though it was again another fantastic part of the walk. I loved it down there - so peaceful and impressive. Well, a good stretch back in with the spit and rain. But hey I think it added to the atmosphere. All the best. Mark

Hi Mark, It was a memorable day and thank you for watching. I wouldn't normally follow another route found online but I could only see a means to completing 50% of what I wanted to do and trusted in what I then found online... Hopefully others can also learn from this! Here we are in 2025 now! Happy New Year to you and all the best.

In a way, I feel that a ridge walk shouldn't 'need' a path on the ground... But there will always be folk less able to follow what's in front of their eyes and the work done to create these paths, is always in incredible.

A really good mountain day Olly although your fitness showed every now and then. A bit worrying the faintness going up. @WalksWithOlly11 ай бұрын
Hello and thanks for watching. The path directly behind the power station is still closed today. There's no directly vehicular access to the path and they're strict about vehicles close to Hinkley Point. Best I could suggest is to park in one of the closest villages, dead-end roads and walk the rest.

That was a wet old walk for sure Olly. A few years ago I cvamped below the forest and walked up through the trees and over the railway line and explored. I didn't geta round to Y Gryn but looking at this will have to approach it sometime. The next cwm (Pennant) offers another approach which I have done back in 2020. Look's like your ME jacket was wetting out - I had to reproof mine a few times ( I have the Rupal) and to be honest I have had cheaper jackets that lasted longer before needing treatment. Good watch all the same. atb Alan
@WalksWithOlly Жыл бұрын
Hi Alan, Thanks for watching and for your comment. Sounds like you have good memories of the area. Exploring around past y Gyrn is something I'd recommend. I've also got the Rupal jacket! Must be around 7 years old now. I did reproof it in January and, like you, I've found it needs doing quite often. But I experienced several days of heavy and constant rain in this week and I like to think it would've been too much for any jacket... Well, it's an expensive item to replace! Hope you're having a good weekend and all the best.

Reminds me of several days on the Coast to Coast this past September. So wet, but oh, so rewarding. I’d do it again in a heartbeat.
