I am using the GoPro Hero 12, and I must admit the low light capabilities are not very good, and I have to use two Fenix flood lights to light up the tunnels. I have been looking at the Insta 360 which as way better low light capabilty, but lacks a gimble (GoPro 12 is stabilished in camera so does not need a gimble), but I am impressed with this DJI Pete, especially with 4k 30FPS, and the difference in low light is amazing, have to make a tuff choice now, been using GoPros for about 10 years.
@MineExplorerUK18 күн бұрын
@@VikingExploration60 yeah I've always used gopro cameras. I will still use the 9 as it was kindly given to me by UK Abandoned Mine Explores. But the dji will be for dry mines to save the gimble hahaha. I've been advised against the pocket 3 as it is twice the size... The battery last 1.5 hours at 4k, but you buy a stick for the bottom giving an extra 4 hours of battery life on top of the original.. The stick was 50 pound and secures the gimble in place like a selfie stick

I use the GoPro Hero 9 underground. I also own the Dji Pocket 2 which is the superior camera but I have always been to scared to use it in a mine because the gimble seems so delicate, and of course there is the dust and mud, etc. I also prefer the still photographs from the Pocket 2. Judging by this video here is a massive difference and I may experiment with the pocket 2 next year. Merry Christmas. 🎄🎅

@ not sure exactly but the old Summerhill farm now demolished used to house the ponies. If you follow the public right of way from Gribdale bend (think the sign has been removed) you get to the ruins eventually. No through route though, ends up in woodland south of Ayreholm Farm. You can access from Little Roseberry but not on a footpath! If you follow the track just before Gribdale gate to the left you can look down on the area. When I was a teenager (long time ago) there was a possible access just off the Cleveland Way in a gully but last time I looked it’s disappeared under a collapse.

The mill closed in the 90's, I do know a few of the miners who worked there, Its in such a bad state now the buildings, when I first visited that site the building still had an intact roof, it had locos in there, man riders, loads or big air compressors, a battery fork lift, and all the slate trimmers were still operational and you could cut the slate. The locos, man riders went to the Welsh slate mine museum in Llanberis, the air compressors were taken by the scrap man along with all the hardened steel blades off the slate trimmers. At 2:50 you said you didn't know what that machine was, it is a part of a continuous wire rope cutting system which was designed and used in marble quarries for cutting large blocks of marble from the mountain, one was brought to Maenofferen to test, I believe it was too slow and blaster was faster. At 3:10 the big old thing is a slab lifter, I think. The slate trimmer Overground Underground is demonstrating used to rotate at quite some speed, originally they were guarded and the bed he has the slate on is missing its blade, the trimmer at 6:50 still has it's bottom blade intact, if you go to the end of the row there is a crate full of small stacked slates, this is what came off the trimmers, and that's how they were stacked for transport to Porthmadog on the Ffestiniog Mountain Railway. The dates are real, Maenofferen ran from the late 19th Century until the 90's, at some point in its early years the mill had a huge waterwheel for power, just to the left of the building you can still see the remains of the support towers for the water leat. In its later life it was converted to electricity which was powered from a Pelton wheel generator in the opposite valley between there and Llechwedd. All electrical panels used to be backed with slate slabs as they were the perfect insulator, the slabs were cut and made in mid Wales and brought out of the obvious mines in that area. And you were right Pete there was an echo in there when you farted. This is the original entrance Pete looking from the inside www.flickr.com/photos/steven-dalgliesh-photography/16831453933/in/album-72157630785513836 and this was the weigh scales next to it on the outside, all buried now www.flickr.com/photos/steven-dalgliesh-photography/17449700142/in/album-72157630785513836/
