Great video Nick and Megan - I'm with you on this ! the other thing of course is 'collision' - with a whale or a submerged object - fishing fads and more ! I'm seeing more and more stuff floating in the oceans and going fast could come at a heavy cost !

Hey Megan! I'm curious. How do you track all of your expenses? Just a spreadsheet? I know there is a ton of apps out there, but they are either clunky, don't feel right, or you need an internet connection (which is a problem on a boat :p).

The problem with aluminium cats on market, is that so little of them being made. And even less made professionaly with right alloy that have 6% of magnesium. And among those tiny numbers of good Al-Mg catamarans there is no real choise. I wonder why modern manufacturers avoid Al-Mg catamarans and we don't see new start-ups. Because demand on catamarans is so big now, yet we don't see new brands now.

June 9, 2024 regarding the HH cats. The HH-SC means it has carbon fiber dagger boards so you can sail closer to the wind and a few knots more of.speed. With the OC being their true hybrid regeneration cruising version cat - without the boards. Under sail the HH cats twin propellesr spin generating electrical power for the batteries. . .

I have no idea if the boat fell through, or what your budget is, but if it did, and you have 800k laying around, the baddest 47' Neel just came up on the market. "Supernova" is a 2022 Neel that is set up with everything you could ever want in a cruising boat. For the one time low low price of 815k! lol Hope y'all are well.

Please don't go back to normal life and give up on sailing. There are enough normal people running around on dirt wishing that they could be sailors. They just hate their normalcy but are to afraid to give it up because it's predictable. To let go and to live in harmony with nature and to be adventurous. Oh one of your older videos popped up on my play list. It was about trimming your sails and how it affects your speed and the amount your auto pilot has to fight against your boat. Yeah most people will say it only affect is 1 mile per hour. But the difference between going 6 miles per hour versus 7 miles per hour is actually alot on a sailboat. Not to mention that you will reduce the amount that your auto pilot has to compensate is a factor also because you will use less energy to drive your auto pilot and the wear and tear on your auto pilot. It was a great video and it is one that I will always remember what you shared.😊

Thank you for the kind note. I appreciate the sentiment, and am very sorry we aren't making videos right now. Perhaps we will get back to that or perhaps we won't. Life is an adventure, full of twists and turns. None of us knows what lies ahead, and there is beauty in that unknowing. There is tragedy however, in not appreciating even the mundane. Normal life is also beautiful. Soak it in...this is a one way trip.

Nick, Megan, where are you?? What's happening? Hey Nick, time to pull out of the market. I see a dump in the horizon! Go buy another newer Leopard or reel in this deal you've been working on. I see the sailboat market is starting to take a dump. That's good. Hopefully, you scoop up a great deal on something.

Good traders know when to let a winner run. Poor traders hold their losers, hoping the position recovers. It has been a good time to have capital working in the markets. We have watched many a catamaran, perfectly adequate for our needs, sit on the market for months and months and months, solidly overpriced when that cash could be doing so much more. I will never understand why an owner, who has come to the difficult decision that they should sell, then holds onto it waiting for "their" price. The 10% they are holding off for ends up costing them 20% or 30% or even more. Well...whatever.
@podocrypto60728 күн бұрын
@@TheOKellys Ok, I get it. But NVDA & BTC only has a few more runs before the MacD crosses to the down side. In the mean time, we are coming into an active hurricane season soon. With lots of sailboats coming back here to Florida and the states, slips are even higher in demand and the fees are mooning. I have a feeling that owners will start softening up and some will have to get into reality and let that sailboat go, because the everything bubble is starting to implode on itself and these people will need to pay off more important things. We too are waiting on the sidelines. Patience will definitely win this race, but it's going to happen soon, me thinks! 😸

In my experience my 2011 Nautitech 441 is a performance cruiser. At 13 tons with 800l of water, dinghy and provision it is pleasingly fast. In 12kts on a reach we sail at 7.5kts. With 20 kts in the eastern Caribbean we average 9.5kts often doing 10-11 between Islands and 7.5 in the lee

How about a 5 minute update on how things are going with the transaction. I assume you would do this if you could (if it was in your best interest) but playing your cards publicly is not a good strategy, especially if things are not going as smoothly as hoped for....which never happens...right?🤣 Wishing the best of luck on this one and hope to hear some good news soon!!!

The air actually doesn't accelerate through the slot. That's kinda of an old theory that got passed around for a long time. Now that they have tested it with pressure and speed sensors it's now proven that the air speed and volume decreases in the slot vs just having the main up. Instead more air is forced around the head sail and at an increased angle of attack. Then the draw of the main allows the head sail to be trimmed in harder without causing leech separation because wind velocity at the leach has increased velocity from the main. So it's really all about the main increasing the efficiency of the head sail instead of the headsail throwing more air at the main. In fact the head sail causes the main to sail at a lower angle of attach to the wind and reduces power it would have without the headsail.
