Cant agree about Ramsgate, even in the gloomy weather you endured your brief view of the harbour and Victorian parade looked wonderful. Glossing over the fact there is a sandy beach and no photo of the pier.... Ramsgate in the summer is well worth a visit.

Just think what could have been achieved with all those billions given in foreign aid. Cornwall and the likes of Wales and parts of the North could have benefitted . After all it was THEIR money in the first place. Our Politicians have a lot to answer for

The younger ones won't have a scooby of what i'm on about but my concept of Dorset as a child was lots of Jack Hargreaves types on horses and carts greeting merrily and telling tales of village life and daring coastal smuggling. It wasn't. Dorset is beautiful tho' especially the isle of Purbeck and as an Englishman we should be proud of that.

The big Blue Bombshell of a building near the end of the video - I was there in 1986 when I turned 18, did a computer and electronics course there that was run by Rhondda Enterprise, and something Margaret Thatchers government set up back in the day. I remember going to the pub too, playing pool during lunch time. Penrhys wasn't that bad back in those days. I live in Canada now.

My hometown, Born in Trebanog, moved to Tonypandy. Now living in Canada for the past 20 years with my beautiful Canadian wife. I miss the old Rhondda Valleys though. Going back for a visit in 2025! Your number one spot, Penrhys is pronounced Pen-Reese

bristol is a model of a city that needs development that isnt retail led. local people have neither the disposable income or desire to buy things constantly & cribbs has been the best place for it for decades. it's fine & good to demolish a lot of those buildings, bristol should be building more places that look like clifton & the docks. and tonnes of apartments. one of the few cities that genuinely is short of dwellings

The younger people in Swansea need to think bigger and longer term. The rainy weather is your treasure. Right now, Greece is burning; Cyprus is plus 30, and so is Portugal and Spain. In 3-5 or 10 years, they will be entirely unlivable in summer. And Swansea will be +25 April through October, with frankly amazing air quality. I had lived in bigger cities before, came here recently and I see it clearly. What Swansea needs, is to keep its spirited indie businesses (they are there!), the diverse ethnic and LGBTQ sectors, the community spirit (it is amazing!) Take the city beach line away from the industrial parks, get the streetcar to Mumbles back. Embrace public transportation. Built some locomotive, mobile street art which showcases the wind and water character of the city. This way, Swansea may hit the "relaxing, interesting but still affordable" destination fame for Europeans. Welcoming gateway to Gower, too.

I was born in Ashington and grew up in Newbiggin. To outsiders, Newbiggin in well rough. They don't like strangers. But when I was young,(1970 1980s) Ashington was a great place. We had 2 cinemas and lots of great shops. Then they moved all the Blyth junkies in (Blyth was NE junkie capital)and bam it hit rock bottom. I still live in Ashington in a house that's been in my family since 1907. 😮

Not everyone wants a town that's 'moved on' I think Wales has a lot of character, the countryside is beautiful. I suppose you want new ugly built houses dotted everywhere with immigrant take aways and crime ridden community.... Would that be more pleasing?

If cities weren't build around cars in the first place, you wouldn't have to try to shoehorn in a "clean air zone." Which is now just going to be an inconvenience to everyone.

Visited Cheltenham today where I used to live. Shocked by the state of the town centre. Boarded up shops, especially Cavendish House that used to house Debenhams on the Promenade. Beggars, drunks, street racers, take aways galore, litter all over the place. Very disheartening.

Every place in the world is what you make it... I personally like characters, and characterful places. Through the construction of HPC, Bridgwater has improved much of the infrastructure. It's a much nicer place to live now. By far better than Taunton. You didn't mention the Fair, or the historic Carnival. You regarded many of the people in a certain place as Rocker's not the unwashed, weed connoisseurs they truly are. You did mention that the pace of life in these places is slower. You might grow to yearn for these simpler times once you've had your fill of tinsel town. There is so much natural beauty in the west. If you're an angler some of these places are truly grand, the home of many wonderful species of birds and animals, not to mention plant and fauna. Perhaps you should take a little venture out from the bricks and find a quaint little meadow, listen to the birds, feel the winds and watch it caress the long grass. All of these things are exquisite treasures, to a racing mind.

Lived in Ashington for 3 years. It is really deprived. A Cinema wont fix anything. How about using that 30 million for grants towards fixing up peoples converted mining houses? Or something nice for the kids to enjoy, which doesn't involve smoking drugs or mugging people. Yet another Thatcher town gone down the drain.

All Sandown needs is investors with really deep pockets , the people that live there 24 /7 are eager to volunteer for litter picks /flower growing /gardening /environmental cleans , there is even a group of old ladies that knits stuff and plonks it on post boxes ,they still have carnivals each year which are always led by highly motivated individuals , what the town needs is at least 20 permanent shallow water berths for luxury yachts a world class casino complex on the ocean hotel site ,the boating lake to be a boating lake ,and the golf course to be a water park offering indoor and outdoor experiences , make them sort of commitments and all the derelict sites will suddenly have investors clambering to be part of the towns huge growth potential .
