There could be more silver on the plate you just ran out of electrolight. Using more salt or Epsom salt will jump start the stripping cell again. I don't know if you used peroxide never done that before.

Thanks for the input I appreciate the honest critique , I wanted to stay away from salt as an electrolyte because of the chloride production . I have used KNO3 as an electrolyte and it very efficient . I think at this point I like using Sulfuric/ Nitric to selectively strip silver , then diluting and cementation the silver cement really looks nice . I will make shot with it then run it through a silver cell. Thanks for dropping by and please comment on other videos . Any processes that can be improved I am all in . Honestly since it’s an experiment and it’s the third time it was mentioned let do this . I’m going to add some salt today . Stay tuned Again thanks

@Hill-13 Epson salt is a form of magnesium dissolved with sulfur acid. If that helps they both work though if you get cooper or tin precipitate contamination boil In HCL.

The plain water cell works fine. I use table salt fir conductivity. It creates silver chloride but also oxidizes base metals in time. I then convert it with the sulfuric and iron method.

Why so much over-voltage? The half-cell voltage of silver is less than 3V. Over-voltage will cause electrolysis of the water, the bubbles of which will interfere with the plating.
@Hill-13
@Hill-13 4 күн бұрын
My plan is to reduce the voltage . When I started it up at 12 V it had no wattage . 30V at .04 amps was .9 watts . So I pushed the Volts up to get some ions in the water then reduce voltage . The copper hydroxide formed can be removed through filtration then heat is my plan so far . Thanks for stopping by , stay tuned for results Ps the size of the material was also an issue

A lead fishing weight flattened and brass screen nothing goes into solution

@Hill-13
@Hill-13 9 күн бұрын
You can make this with 120-150 grams of .999 silver dissolved in 100 ml of nitric acid then micro dosing to dissolve the remaining silver I would leave some silver undissolved that way you are using up the nitric . If you don’t have pure silver yet you will have to building it up , Sterling silver flatware dissolved in nitric acid then cementing it out with copper , clean it well to use as feed stock and material for the silver nitrate electrolyte in the cell , you can use electrolyte made with just Sterling silver but it will foul quickly .
