Van Staal is great for keeping sand out of your reel. But it cranks like Flintstone tool

Here in Australia Shimano offers a Ten year warranty and 1 year service on all reels with one week turn around maybe less if you live near Sydney.

Van staal is dedicated to surf anglers. Between Stella and Saltiga, personally I'd say it's a matter of maintenance vs strength. Stella's grant you the option of self servicing while the Saltiga is restricted to Daiwa's service center due to the magseals and MQ body. The MQ body allows the Saltiga to house bigger gears than the Stella for more cranking power though.

Actually vs has the 50 size which is like a 3000 size reels for the inshore Anglers. Bigger gears seem to have more issues then smaller gears for some reason. So odd. Daiwa aluminum reels are fantastic their lt reels ( Lt = legit trash ) are horrible. Had the Fuego Lt , back bay lt and ballistic Lt and all of them flexed so bad even on 3lb bass. Daiwa had me send the 3 in and they sent me brand new ones and those flexed too. Shimano down fall is line roller bearings outside of that I believe they have the over all solid reel.

The short answer is get a Stella or Saltiga unless you are going to swim with your real (Which you most likely are not) or if you want to match all the cool kids in the pier get your self a Van Staal and Avet combo.

They’re phenomenal reels! But, when the Saltiga has all the same specs, and even the same color as the Stella sw, you have to ask why. Usually the best is copied but the others

@@tailwateroutfitters for a long time Shimano was the best with a good technology. For me personally is line capacity. Shimano does not have that just about all of their reels are like that

​@@Thelifewelive I get 220 yards on my Shimano 3ks. But normally run 125 to 140 yards of braid. For inshore don't need past 140. I've gotten 6 snook at 40" or bigger with my pb being 44.5" all with 140 yards or less. None ever got close to having me down to the backing

​@@tailwateroutfitters that's why every company trys to copy Shimano but fails everytime. They get close but it's no where near as refined as Shimano. Shimano to me has got the reel game on lock. I've sank my stradic multiple times chasing snook around docks , it's not even a " sealed reel " nor a " magseal " reel but yet not a drop of water got into the body or spool. Mean while when I owned the certate , exist and few other daiwas they got water in them without even sinking them 🤦🏽‍♂️😂

@@artificialslinger9730 obviously you’re a Shimano fan. Having 140 yards on your reel you must have your drag super tight. I catch hundreds of snook a year 20 inches to 45 inches. I have 5 bg, 2 saltiga and 2 certate.

The problem with the Stella is that it does not have a backup anti reverse (except for the 18k and 20k), the only reason why I did not buy a Stella

The problem with the term " best " is the fact not one of these reels are the " best " per say. The " best " is based on individual persons preference. For example I prefer Shimano because I've been using them for 18 years and have had nothing but the greatest experience with their customer service , warranty ( only used once ) and products in general. Others may hate Shimano and prefer daiwa and I dislike daiwa because of the multiple horrible experiences I've had with their products , customer service and warranty. Most the time these videos / posts on what's the best normally turns into a pissing contest 😂

Saltiga can handle bigger fish better, that’s why it’s used for catching big GT’s. Stella’s can handle big fish too but the main gear is smaller than the Saltiga, which means that the Stella will break easier the more you hook huge fish on it. Saltiga FTW definitely, the mag seal, mq body, drag, everything is perfect on that reel

The saltiga has half the parts of the stella. Look at the exploded views of both. The stella has 100 teeny little plastic pieces inside. The saltiga hardly has any. Daiwa .
