Charging by the square footage of the home makes no sense. It has no factor In amount of guttering. Just do up to 100’ up to 150’ up to 200’ linear feet.
@bluladder3 күн бұрын
@@GirthosaurusRex in my area it works great. I was skeptical at first, but it allows me to generate prices without seeing anything to automatically upsell. I have my system set up so that occasionally the bid is higher than I would normally charge, but either the customer approves the price anyways, or I can offer them a discount if they haven’t booked and I see that’s the case. Most homeowners don’t accurately measure their liner feet of gutters, but their house size is easily accessible. So do u do window and gutter cleaning throughout the winter? How do u keep busy when winter is usually slow for home service businesses?
@bluladder7 күн бұрын
Yes, things definitely get slower, but I try to stay as busy as I can. I spend half of January taking down Christmas lights, then I offer discounts for people to book in the slowest months (end of January and all of February, then early March) I usually do an email blast with a promotion, sometimes I’ll text too. I’ll sometimes mix up the promotion depending on my target in a given month. If we get a significant cold front with extended freezing temps, things pretty much shut down until we get above freezing. I try to let customers know in advance that windows can be cleaned regardless of temperature, but you can’t alway win every battle 😂 Usually things get going by March for me by reengaging previous customers, then I’ll go heavier with paid advertising by mid March or April, depending on weather.
@YouTubeuser7857 күн бұрын
@ that’s awesome, hearing that definitely gets me inspired, especially since last winter was slow. I plan on marketing chandelier cleaning for the colder months this year, so hopefully it will keep me busy.

@ chandelier cleaning, screen repair, and dryer vent cleaning are 3 easy and profitable add-ons for winter. Just remember to be persistent. A series of multiple emails/texts/calls to a smaller segment of your customer list will do way better than a single random email blast to all of your contacts

Cougar paws are my “go-to” and make a huge difference. This roof was steep, but what you can’t see very well are the valleys between the ridges, so if I need to climb higher I walk up the valleys and ridges and then use the edge of the roofline as a guide for my hand to get a grip. Otherwise I also have a GOAT Steep Assist. You should see what some roofers do, they make this look like a cake walk 😅

@bluladder15 күн бұрын
Depends what you’re wrapping. I used 70 on this tree, just happen to have a larger inventory of it. If you’re wrapping smaller branches or bushes, then a shorter strand (50 lights) would be preferred. But for a big trunk like this, 100 light strands work great.

@bluladder20 күн бұрын
I was trained to believe that no, you don’t need anything on the end (in most situations). However, if you have the chance of sticks, branches, leaves around the location of the wire, you can add a female plug to the end. I’ve had vampire plugs malfunction and bridge the electric wires causing the GFI to flip the power off, and electrical tape can cause the same issue. In my opinion, it’s more important that the plug supplying power to the lights a GFI or GFCI outlet, so that if any bridging occurs the power automatically switches off.

Having the proper safety gear helps, Cougar Paws are another confidence builder, but that first step is still the scariest! Great tips, what's you call percentage on eddm? What about 2nd and 3rd tries?
@bluladder25 күн бұрын
@@jeremiepigeon I usually make my calculations based on a 0.5% response rate. It obviously varies by service and season, but typically around 0.5% for first time, closer to 1% after a few hits to the same area. I’ve had campaigns that didn’t hit right and only got 1-2 calls from about 3,000 post cards, and I think it was a combination of a bad card with too many services, unclear call to action, and with bad timing. If you go fishing when the fish are swimming, you’ll catch more fish. If you send postcards at the peak of the season (Christmas lights right before Thanksgiving, window cleaning in April, etc) you’ll get the best results. Send as many post cards as you want for pressure washing in January, and you won’t get much response 😅

Hey Ben! Where do you get your Christmas lights supply from?
@bluladder27 күн бұрын
I purchase everything through Christmasdesigners.com but there are 2 significant factors why 1. Their warehouse is under 30 min away so I can pick up local and avoid shipping 2. I know a guy with a wholesale account and am able to get the lowest prices possible, usually lower than advertised discounts. it’s worth looking into any distributors or companies near you and checking to see if they have bulk discounts
@danielestrella109628 күн бұрын
Hey Ben! Starting to get some leads for Christmas lights! I’m just wondering what the leasing agreement should include and what it looks like honestly.
@bluladder28 күн бұрын
Here’s what I say: It would be $500 for the front roofline. Also can do staked lights on ground along plant beds in front of house for $200. I can also outline additional windows/doors/openings, average of $50-75 per opening. The price includes everything needed for installation: lease of lights, timer, clips, etc plus installation, maintenance, removal and storage of lights. I use c9 SMD LED bulbs made by one of the most reputable Christmas light manufacturers, Minleon. They have a trademark color called “sun-warm” white, which looks more natural and less yellow than any other LED light around and is the most popular choice. I can also do alternating red and white of any other customized color scheme. The socket wire, or light strands, gets cut to fit perfectly, as are extension chords so that you don’t have any coils of wire sticking out. If there are ever issues with the lights during the holiday season, and I get out to fix any issues within 24 to 48 hours as part of the package. Whether it’s due to high winds, squirrels, birds, or faulty decorations, I’m able to fix it quickly. I take all the lights down in January, and store them in the climate controlled facility where they’re safely tucked away for the rest of the year.
