Love and appreciate this poetry, and its presentation by Lew Salem. Where can I see more of his work?

This was an amazing lecture! I'm currently writing a surreal gothic fantasy novel set in a dystopian city. Piranesi's Imaginary Prisons and Fritz Lang's Metropolis have both been sources of inspiration for the architecture and general aesthetic of my imaginary city, but I hadn't realised that Lang was actually directly influenced by Piranesi's Prisons. Another great source of inspiration which I've recently discovered is Hugh Ferriss's Metropolis of Tomorrow, and I imagine that most people who are interested in Piranesi's Imaginary Prisons will also find much to fascinate in Ferriss's 'Imaginary Metropolis,' which was also published a couple of years after Lang's Metropolis came out, and has much in common with it aesthetically (I don't know whether Ferriss was influenced by the film, but it's hard to imagine that he wasn't). Ferriss's cityscapes are atmospheric, sublime and cyclopean, and have an art deco aesthetic which adds to their eeriness in a really fascinating way.

An excellent presentation! Thanks!! Too many people today do not realise that these masterful paintings were painted by several artists, working as a team (or, more properly, as a studio). Each was a specialist, which is why the paintings are so good. They were "assembled," so to speak, under the master's skillfull direction, just as movies are made today.

I wonder how the cardboard surfaces supports of his paintings have withstood the test of time? I think that most of them have probably seen a couple of visits to conservationists as cardboard is not properly ph balanced and not archival. Especially painting on paper without first sealing it with gesso.

He got tuberculosis because of the army. One of his jobs in the army was digging trenches in the swamps near Mississippi and got tuberculosis from that. He was disappointed that after the army many black soldiers were still discriminated against in the u.s even after risking their lives and health and so on. Maybe that can be a correction instead of saying he was lucky to be in the army cause they discovered he had tuberculosis. If it's not the truth ?
