3D does extreme anti-aliasing, so thats why you can view any angle. I hope you will review Deadpool and Wolverine 3D Blu-ray when it comes out. Did you review The Marvels?

Great review as always! My only question is, does Eyepop and PlanD do anything other than horror movies? I just can't stomach horror movies but would love to see some older 3D movies. Thanks!

I have to disagree, I think Tangled was the better movie, song-wise and story-wise. And personally, I thought the 3D had a couple great pop outs during the lantern scene. But I respect your opinion none the less. Sorry you didn't enjoy this film as much as you thought you would.

"Monsters??!!...We're British you know!!" I Love this movie. I got my digital copy a couple of weeks ago. The conversion is flawless in my opinion. Even the train lights at the very beginning had life and depth. The depth of the empty eye sockets of the monster when it was still in the ice was simply astonishing. But just to witness Christopher and Peter in stunning 3D was such a treat.

This film is in my top ten of all time, of any genre. One of the greatest horror movies ever made IMO. EyePop’s 3-D conversion isn’t as strong overall as I would have liked, but it’s fairly solid and there are several extremely impressive shots of train corridors and exteriors/models. And as you said, the conversion is pretty much perfectly done, with no anomalies that jumped out at me. One thing I must disagree with you a bit on is the music score; far from sounding merely dubbed in here and there, John Cacavas’ haunting theme is extremely memorable, extremely well-used, and is a vital part of the film’s atmosphere. It’s also extremely whistleable. I will agree that silence is also used extremely well. I LOVE THIS MOVIE! 🤓
@kevwolf6917 күн бұрын
Totally agree on the score. It was haunting. It almost had a Ennio Morricone feel to it. Wonderfull stuff!
@TommyBoy3D17 күн бұрын
Yes, I dropped the ball on the music. I just wanted to point out that at times I appreciated the silence instead of cheesy music. The score was very good. My bad.

The 3D in Legends Of Flight is amazing. But a little off topic but can you review Wim Wenders Pina in 3D it's available as apart of the Criterion collection and right now at Barnes And Nobles they're having 50% off on their movies so you can get this for cheap, I thank you and love your 3D movie reviews being a strong supporter of this format.

I agree. This was a fun movie with some surprisingly great 3D. I know I give out “great” ratings to animated films all the time on my site. But this was one film where, like you said, the 3D made it a whole different movie. That one shot where the camera starts from the outside of the game cabinet to bursting through the screen, putting everything in Fix it Felix into 3D space really hit me that this was going to be a 3D banger. And it was. Keep up the good work.

How did I miss your review on this one? Thanks YT for recommending it out the blue today. I enjoyed this one too. In hindsight its a pretty unique 3D movie - I can't think of another 3D cave thriller. I found the acting wasn't all that bad. Some people have no patience for anything that doesn't fit within their circle of perfect. One the trap springs it was a claustrophobic thrill ride to the end. Great movie.

Nice one Tommy. If you don't have it, I recommend the Tony Robinson series (from Sky) "World War 1 in 3D" which I remember being a lot better than this one. Incidentally, this is a UK thing that you may or may not know - British soldiers were traditionally known as "Tommys"! When/if it happens, I do hope the next big war is fully documented in stereo: The name "World War 3D" will be too good an opportunity to miss - although, sadly, we probably will all miss it as there won't really be anyone left around to watch it. (I'll be in my bunker, of course...) Cheers mate.

Intriguing. I came across this a couple of times on my Amazon searches, but just hadn’t picked it up. Now, I might just put it up on my priority list a couple notches. You know, now that you mention it, there’s hardly any WWII films out there in 3D. If I’m wrong, feel free to correct me. But yeah, I wish there were more. Personally, this disc reminds me of They Shall Not Grow Old which was actually a WWI film consisting of old footage that was colorized and converted to 3D. Unfortunately, it wasn’t released on 3D Blu Ray, so I can’t watch the 3D version. But I’ve still heard great things about it. Maybe I’ll give it a watch sometime soon. P.S. You know, you mentioned how 3D was used as propaganda back in the day for Germany. That kinda remained me of when Avatar was seeking to get released in China back in the day, but the anti-imperialist message went against Winnie the Pooh’s own way of running things. Eventually, China reluctantly decided to release the film there, but it would only be the 3D version. Their thinking was that the audience would be so mesmerized by the 3D effects they wouldn’t pay that much attention to the message. I don’t know. They way you described 3D propaganda here made me think of how China decided to use 3D as reverse propaganda of sorts for Avatar’s message of going against oppressive authority.

Thanks for the comments. I seen a film on WWI called "they will not be silent" I think it was. They used computers to read lips and put dialogue, sound and color. It was amazing.

Great review, I also ordered this after GFFs recent review and... *WoW!* The 3D in this is top notch, especially the computer generated graphics. For pop-out lovers this is a must own. Plus its certainly not hard to find, there were dozens and dozens of listings on Ebay and I got mine for $7. Subject matter aside, this one is definitely going on my top shelf, with the other reference quality 3D blu-rays.
@badgastein2Ай бұрын
Hi Tommy , I have this one, certainly a reference film and a ‘must have’ for the 3D BluRay Collection . The negative parallax is 10/10. I was a little alarmed to discover, as I watched, that it was basically a corporate documentary for Boeing but to their credit Airbus products do get a mention and the viewer is also under no allusion that the aircraft industry is tough and constantly evolving, a bit like the Piranah pool of`formula 1 racing cars. The narrator reminds me of John Hunter of REL (sub-woofer manufacturer) who is a company director and also a top technician who explains his company products with similar gusto (see You Tube/REL).

Nice one Tommy. Totally agree, spectacular 3D in this one. If you liked the mesmerising view of the stewardesses maybe you should check out Stewardesses 3D. (Caution: I do not really recommend it..!) Can't think of any 3D train Blu-rays outside of Polar Express but, I know, that doesn't really count! Cheers mate.

There was a train video about old trains in our western states. But I keep getting conflicting information on whether or not it’s in 3 D. Ahhhh…. Stewardess in 3D (pause it in the beginning when those legs stick out of the screen 3 feet). Can’t bring myself to review though. Didn’t know what I was getting into. The short video in the beginning is …… well I end this here. 🤣

For those with a 3D-TV and are thinking of making the move (or saving up) for a projector, I hope you do it. You will not regret it. A plane wing jetting out from your wall touching your nose is awesome!
