Play Preferences: Enjoying activities like climbing trees, playing sports, and building things. Socialization: May gravitate towards friendships with boys or have a mixed group of friends. Stereotypes: Facing stereotypes and societal expectations that can be limiting. Individuality: Tomboyishness is a spectrum, and every girl who exhibits these traits is unique. Not a Phase: For some girls, tomboyishness is a lifelong part of their identity. Changing Perceptions: Societal views on tomboyishness are evolving, becoming more accepting. Self-Acceptance: Embracing tomboyishness can be empowering for some girls. Impact on Development: Can foster important skills like confidence, resilience, and leadership. Intersectionality: Tomboyishness intersects with other identities like race, class, and sexuality. Media Representation: Limited and often stereotypical media representation of tomboys. Impact on Mental Health: Societal pressures and negative stereotypes can impact mental health. Positive Aspects: Can lead to greater physical activity and a healthier lifestyle. Breaking Gender Roles: Challenges traditional gender roles and expectations. Role Models: Important to have positive role models who defy traditional gender norms. Celebrating Diversity: Embracing the diversity of gender expression in all its forms. Supporting Tomboys: Creating a supportive environment for girls who embrace their tomboyish side. Redefining Femininity: Tomboys contribute to expanding the definition of femininity. A Spectrum: Tomboyishness exists on a spectrum, and there is no single "right" way to be a girl.

3d filmmaking is so interesting because it keeps coming and going (in the 50s, 80s, and early 2000s) despite the enormous industry cooperation and costs required to make it work. So, despite that it keeps failing (don't get me wrong, I love it), it keeps coming back. Seems like an unwise investment. Yet, Hollywood keeps at it (unlike they do for other market failures like sense-around). Why? Why do we WANT 3d to work? Do you ever think about this? I have a theory. I think fiction is a waking derivative of the most power force of attraction on earth outside our basic needs. It's a doorway into nature's ultimate distraction: dreaming.

I just bought Piranha 1 so hope it is much better lol! Half a star ⭐️ for trying! 😂

It is excellent. Definitely going on my top shelf with my other faves. Not quite as amazing as the IMAX 3D presentation in the theater, as there are no IMAX ratio scenes or frame breaks on the disc... But still an awesome disc. Great pops out and depths, especially at the beginning and end.

While this particular movie isn't my cup of tea, i am really looking forward for your "Year in review" video of 2024. I would also love a collection round-up that updates your list 2020. It's so interesting to hear people talk about 3D movie, and they are sadly only a handful channels left. And i am sooooooooo happy that the German label "Turbine Media" gave 3D a lifeline and started to release some unreleased 3D titles, as well as taking over some of the titles that RSM had in their portfolio. I've took a leap and backed the Valerion Visionmaster Max on kickstarter, and how that they fix the 3D issues until then. Only bad part is that we have to wait until May for it to officially release.

Nice review. Now I see I’m not the only one to review this film twice. Who knows, maybe you might give 2009’s A Christmas Carol another shot for its 15th anniversary (I watched it just the other night and I realized again just how great a lot of it is). And I agree, the 3D here is superb and absolutely must be seen by anyone who’s either a 3D fan or a Polar Express fan. That being said, you mentioned that you kinda take back your previous statement about the film being potentially the greatest 3D film ever if they did it in the IMAX ratio, and you said you take it back because of a few things Go Find Fun pointed out that you didn’t initially see. But you didn’t circle back onto what those things were. Perhaps some clarification on that would be nice. Otherwise, I’m totally on board with you. This film is an absolute classic. No matter if you like it or not, you’ll always remember it. I’ll take that anyway over most safe shlock Hollywood makes today. And of course, 3D is a must, especially IMAX 3D if possible.
@TommyBoy3D23 күн бұрын
Ah yes, it was when he mentioned that the background elements were "flat" and that in some cases the flat background was "bumped" out in certain areas. A rarely used technique. But it was so good I never really noticed it the first time.
@the3ddinosaur8723 күн бұрын
Yeah, once you notice it, it’s a little hard to unnotice. But the good thing is the film keeps so much of the action in the foreground which is in 3D that you have to be an eagle eyed viewer to catch it the first time. The same technique was used also on Beowulf, another underrated movie with that mo cap technology.

Nice one Tommy. I loved hearing your personal connection to the setting in this film, evocative stuff. I'm not the biggest fan of this one, but there's a Robert Zemeckis 3D movie that I would loved to have seen at an Imax cinema, and that's The Walk. He's treated us 3D fans very well over the years. (Also, if you've not seen it, I recommend his most recent film, with old Tom Hanks again, "Here" which I thought was fantastic, albeit only in 2D.) A very merry Christmas to you - and, who knows, maybe the Polar Express will make a stop in Florida this year...

I first saw this in a standard theater, and it creeped the heck outta me, mind you I was about 32 at the time and not easily scared. It came across more as a horror film than a warm fuzzy xmas vibe. But there was just something about it that lingered with me after it was over. So much so that I made an hour drive to the nearest Imax theater to see it in 3D. And wow!, It blew me away. The snow flakes were literally falling inside the theater, and that moment where you're eye-level with the tracks and the front of the train is coming to a stop in front of you---one of THE best 3D effects ever! I do agree, it's about as perfect a 3D movie that's been made. And I'm very lucky to have snagged one of the last 3D tv's they made so I can still enjoy it the way it should be seen.
