I love this 3D Blu-Ray of Dune. I'm 74 and I read all the Dune novels from the very beginning in 1965 and I would read one and wait for the next novel to come out. I'm very well read especially in Science Fiction, I read the 'Foundation Tribology" by Isaac Asimov when I was just in the second grade, lets say I was a little ahead of my class in second grade, my Dad gave me a very large dictionary in the first grade and lets say I took advantage! Anyways, this movie is very close to the book and the 3D is stunning! I can't wait for the second movie! Great review!

Sadly I havent been able to find any 3D screenings either. I thought I read a Warner Bros release schedule that indicated that Dune 2 and Furiosa were both going to receive 3D releases, but I can't find any mention of it online now. Such a bummer.

Hey Tommy check out JFC's work from 3D-HD club. From what I know the guy used to do 2D-3D conversions for big movie studios but now he is working on his own. I can't vouch for the quality for all his work since I've only seen a few, but from the few I've seen they're all pretty solid. Got to say seeing Tenet in 3D was a pretty amazing experience. Since studios are putting out less and less 3D these days that could be a cool source for content to keep this format alive.

I rewatched the first Dune on IMAX a few days ago. They re-released the film just before the 2nd comes out. Sadly there were no 3-D screenings available but this movie was MADE FOR IMAX!!! The scale of this film left my jaw on the floor. Just the sound alone shook my bones to the core! The environments were mesmerizing to look at and the story kept me on the edge of my seat. I’m very glad you enjoyed the movie Tommy. From what I heard, the sequel WILL UP THE ANTE!!! Cheers

I really enjoyed your review of Dune part 1 in 3d! Dune part 2 was developed at the time when the new Warner Brothers president took over and decided they weren't going to do any more 3ds. So we're not going to get a 3D of Dune 2 and they will not do a post-conversion and even if they would have done it in 3D they're not releasing any 3D Blu-rays right now. That's the state of the stupidity of some of the studio ceos!

Great film. I don't understand why some film makers decide to have the music volume so loud that it's hard to hear the dialogue. Many of Christopher Nolan's films have this same "issue" or creative choice as well. Saw the film in 2D awhile back now I got to see it again in 3D before seeing part two!

Sat down to revisit this disc before I headed to see part 2 in IMAX and yes, it is incredibly dark, I also had to crank the brightness up to max on my projector. As for part 2... Its the first 2D movie I've seen in the theater since Tarantino's last flick in 2019. Overall it was 10x better than part 1, and it was probably the loudest movie I've ever seen. It's a shame it didn't get a conversion because many of the shots looked tailor made for 3D. However, and I've never said or even thought anything like this before, but occasionally on the IMAX screen the composition was so massive it almost felt 3D, like the image was swallowing you whole... idk, maybe it was just me. Highly recommended though. Also the IMAX countdown intro in 3D is one of the coolest things I've ever seen; in 2D, it's kinda corny and lackluster.

Part two isn’t getting shown in 3D. I got my tickets last Thursday, I’m going to the double feature Showcase UK is the only chain here actually showing both movies back to back, luckily I have a pressure relief seat cushion in my wheelchair, hello 5 1/2 hours 😜 Anyway, I hope you and yours are okay like?

@@TommyBoy3D I intend to, I’m just happy to rewatch part one, the cinematography for that is just amazing The same person just happened to do Star Wars: rogue one, and the creator, then came back to do dune, part two, So I’m really excited.

I have never seen Dune Part I in the theater, only on Blu Ray 3D, as it wasn't released theatrically in 3D where I live. I am underwhelmed by the movie and the 3D, the movie can't hold a candle to David Lynch's Dune from 1984. Likewise the soundtrack is bland compared to Toto's soundtrack for Dune (1984). The cast is bland, the 1984 versions had personalities like Kenneth McMillan, Sting, Patrick Stewart, Everett McGill, Jürgen Prochnow and Max von Sydow. It had those amazing worms in clear view. I have seen Dine Part 1 twice and I might watch it a third time. If I feel just as bad about it, it will be purged from my collection.

Nice one Tommy. Agree, I thought the 3D in this one was functional but nothing particularly special. I think I might be one of the few people who didn't love the film though! (I didn't even especially like the *look* of it either, far too drab!) I've nothing against "space opera" type movies, but prefer them when they're fun (like Star Wars), rather than po-faced affairs taking themselves overly seriously: I'm all for that if the film is serious science fiction, but I don't think of Dune as being science fiction at all. Rather, it's just another one that hijacks the visuals of SF without any of their substance. Having said all that, I'm off to the cinema a week today for the sequel (sadly in 2D, of course). Final complaint (I'm in full-on moaning mood today): I *detest* IMAX as a format and this film, along with Nolan's stuff, is a flag-bearer for that company. Rant over. Cheers mate.
