I lived in the Netherlands in the 70s. I miss the patat kraam with the croquetten, patat, bitter ballen etc. I remember the vending machines at the train stations with these treats as well. It all seemed weird and wonderful to a 13 year old who grew up in California. I'm in Canada now and yes, we still can buy milk in bags in British Columbia.

I'm curious to see if i could make Christmas crack with Werther's..... I've always wanted to make Christmas crack with a layer of honeycomb. I'm thinking this is possible by melting Werther's in a saucepan with a lil water till it's bubbly and is at hardball stage, then i think adding baking soda, stirring it quickly then pouring it on top of the crackers. And then i could pour tempered chocolate on top.

Not enough caramel for my taste. I've seen this Werther's recipe before. What strikes me is that it really isn't that much easier than making it completely from scratch with brown sugar and corn syrup. And to do it from scratch would be a whole lot cheaper than having to buy a bag of werthers at retail cost.

I was born and raised in Grand Rapids Michigan with lots Dutch people there. Also a short drive to Holland Michigan. Lots of these at the Dutch Village and wooden shoe factory. I ate a lot of these. What I found in these later years is that Jimmy Dean's original sausage LINKS cooked most the way and drained on paper towel, had the flavor I grew up with for the filling. Then I discovered that the SOUTHERN style biscuits in the frozen section had the exact flavor I got from the pastry I grew up with from Holland Michigan . For the size of the sausage, I'd thaw and cut one biscuit in half and roll it out to the size to wrap the sausage and bake until golden brown. Awesome! Just like what I grew up with!😊. We called them 'Pigs in a blanket" The original "Pigs in a blanket", not the dough wrapped hotdogs of today. These are great to freeze and just pop them into the oven to bake up as a quick treat for guests or a quick lunch or breakfast 😊. I also knew a Dutch lady that made them to order and, while they were a little bigger than what I make with the Jimmy Dean links, they tasted the same.❤

Thank u! I tried the premade wethers caramel popcorn and fell in love with it BUT.. I don’t know who is in charge of their popcorn/quality control but they need to be fired. I have bought multiple bags and every single time I am about breaking my teeth on kernels. I get there will be ones that don’t pop but half the bag? And it’s covered in caramel or attached to a of of popcorn. You end up spitting half the bag out. Plus it has so many shells in it, ur mouth gets full of them. It’s like they don’t try and shake any of the kernels or shells out. It’s ridiculous. I have to try this!
