I bought a Samson Graphite M25 (a mini MIDI Controller), 7 or 8 years ago, as my first Controller, because it was the only one fits my budget.. LoL.. but of course it was travel-friendly.. Thanks Reuben!!

I have an AKAI MPK Mini II. The drum pads are decent for creating beats, but the keyboard is way too small to play anything past simple chords and tunes on it. Really would rather have a fun-sized keyboard.

If you lean harder on the 'fun toy' aspect, the Akai Mini Play has speakers and built-in sounds. Your overall complaints about mini controller sensitivity is correct but some keyboards are better than others. Arturia and Novation M32 probably have the best mini keys. (Novation's keys and build are not good but there is a LOT of convenience with its Ableton integration.)
