i've often travelled Liverpool-Euston on Avanti (Italian meaning 'Forward'). never had a problem. don't know how you rate it worst??

I've spent many, many hours on the east coast azumas (newcastle to aberdeen) and they're smart and tidy, and the lights/screen that give you info about the seats (availability, what stations the tickets are to) are good, but the seating is very cramped and about as comfortable as a church pew. You're better off driving - quicker, cheaper, more comfortable, more convenient, more reliable, less stressful.

Seats were fine, not perfect but better than the ironing boards of british rail.

I live in Glasgow and have stopped using Aventi because of the number of times you get turfed out at Preston (going north) and left to your own devices. LNER a thousand times better even though takes longer with a change at Edinburgh

Love trains. But did you know: Mecca is really just a scam to get the faithful to visit SA so they just have another industry to rely on (besides oil) to bring revenue in. Think about it: why would faith require one to go to one specific place to worship? Mecca is a scam, people.

While I agree with renationalising the U.K. railways, this must be done by one external operator, preferably from Japan, Taiwan or the CCP who is exclusively tasked with the job of raising standards, running and maintaining services properly, lowering fares and getting projects done in half the time and for half the costs - to do this, they would be given a certain amount for maintenance and certain other strictly defined costs, but any other funding would have to be strictly performance related and all existing U.K. rail bodies would have to be abolished, with the required laws to make this happen either passed in parliament or by direct edicts/directives by the prime minister

I've raked in so much money recently with Avanti compensation "DelayRepay".. My work pays for my tickets and I get the compo.

My family took this train journey on our vacation to Scotland in summer of 2023. The train was delayed due to some technical fault and was stopped dead on the tracks in some rural area, causing more than one hour of delay. They kept announcing that UK law allows for passengers to get a partial refund for this delay. I followed all procedure to file my claim for 4 travelers in my family and never got my refund. I reached out to them publicly on Twitter and via email but to no avail. Shameless people.

Yep totally agree the seats on all hitachi are not acceptable and the ride!!! At least there is a buffet if you live in the West Country a trolley is all you get ( if you’re lucky)

Taking 4.5 hours for a 401-mile trip is not bad for a British railway service. At least it takes you to the destination in a relatively short time.

I was a little confused about the Elizabeth Line and the mention of the “Crossrail Core” (Central London?) but I do think that when getting from Heathrow, aside from the Heathrow Express, it is a better alternative to the Tube

The major downside with the super fare is you don’t know exactly what time your train is until 24 hours in advance, even if you book weeks ahead, which is a bit tricky if you are a wheelchair passenger, as you just have to hope the train you get has not already maxed out bookings for the wheelchair spaces by the time you find out when you’ll be departing.

If I lived in one of those apartments that faced the train lines and the Alps and got to choose which side I'd want my apt to face, I'd choose the train side! 😂🤣🤣

I tried it got dumped out at Preston as no train crew to go further and had to go back home as no trains for hours afterwards.

So me and my mate did a superfare trip to Glasgow in November and we only ended up paying £15 after delay repay (1st journey 55L and second journey cancelled)

I took this service on standard class from Madina to Jeddah airport. I'm from the UK, and a somewhat seasoned traveller of the WCMR so I'm accustomed to the likes of pendolinos and whatnot. When the train took off it started accelerating, then kept on accelerating, then still kept on accelerating... I was blown away by the incredible power and speed of true high speed rail, the trains were also well-lit complimented by the natural daylight and warm sandstone tones of the interior, felt luxurious and cool with the bathrooms being extremely clean and even having a bidet, there was also a food cart service and iirc a buffet car like a pendolino lol but way more comfortable. Fun fact about the travel supplication, it's being read by none other than Shreikh Abdul-Rahman As-Sudays, the General President of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque and also a world-famous reciter and Chief Imam of Makkah, I had the honour of meeting him twice in London, once in the old The King Fahad Academy Mosque (closed down unfortunately) and other at Regents Park Masjid many years ago, that time he gifted me a bottle of Zamzam and an Islamic CD. Saudi Arabia is extremely well-developed and provides incredible living conditions and amenities for their citizens (unfortunately can't vouch for migrant workers however) and it warms my heart they have excellent connections to the two holy cities both on their incredible HHSR and their SAPTCO luxury coaches which I suggest since they have reclining armchairs in a 1-2 seating config, tea and coffee services and fast internet onboard at a much lower price than the HHSR (albeit a tad longer since coaches are obviously limited by highway speed limits duh but there's also standard coaches which are even MORE cheaper but in a standard 2-2 configuration). They also make a stop for those performing Umrah to get into Ihram and begin their journey into Makkah. I did NOT know you were Muslim, I only found your channel because I was one day looking for videos of the Class 313 out of pure curiosity. May Allah bless you and grant you infinite success in this world and in the next.

An on time arrival with Avanti? Had to check this wasn't an April Fools Joke! In all seriousness, Avanti may be nowhere near as good as Virgin were back in the day but the new refurbed Pendolinos and brand new Evero's (yet to travel on one myself) mean that the comfort of travel is pretty decent (if you can actually get a seat!)

Who would pay more.

I used to travel weekly on Virgin and then Avanti. Virgin were significantly better (even though it was the same staff at first). After Covid, Avanti fell apart and they have not really recovered. Fortunately, I no longer have to use Avanti that often. When I do, I have to put so much padding into my timetable to accommodate the frequent delays. Seast: Anyone sitting in those concrete seats for 4 hours deserves a medal. The LNER IC225 and Lumo services are the only decent standard seats these days with the LNER 225 far superior to every other offering these days.

I had a Standard Premium ticket from Euston to Edinburgh. I was going to get Lumo back to Kings Cross. The train out of nowhere for unknown causes got cancelled at Preston, (they said points failure but it was fixed so wasn't that). I think it was train crew for mine, here's why. There was a cancelled Euston train going South, which I think was where the train crew was mean't to swap to my train, and my crew took the Euston train. Instead they switched the Guard from mine onto the Glasgow train behind and the driver from the down train did turn up so it went empty stock to Edinburgh! I ended up going to Manchester, (I ain't going on a 5 car TPE train to Edinburgh, as the Glasgow train infront was cancelled ahead of me too!), where I got there on a Northern train, then took XC home to Bournemouth, (which had to waste on First Class because I had a seat but the reservation system was broken and fill the lines...). Someone actually had to stand from Manchester to Southampton!

I enjoyed the video. I think the refurbished Pendolinos look much better but find the seats as hard as the much maligned seats on the Azumas over on the ECML. I really don’t know who decides the travelling public would prefer to have a numb bum at the end of a five hour journey.

Avanti took over from virgin & they said come & enjoy our new trains when actually they was the old class 390 service dirty smelly & window ledges always dusty & dirty I never use a anti anymore when going to London I use Transpennine express to Manchester then onwards from there for an extra 85p well worth getting off @ Manchester Piccadilly

Any time ticket is well over Hundred pound can't see it being 30 pond whish it whos that are not bad as tpe and northern with miserable rude staff Liverpool Manchester 12 pond a day gust for day trip that's with any time ticket the ticketing system is too complicated you only get deal if you're student or in the know if have learning disabilities is gust bawhildering this componeys don't care about pasingers is all about how many tricks that can pull to get money out of you and you have to pay a primum gust for counfert

I live in Australia and I can go pretty much anywhere in the state for the $11 (~£5.50), or I can travel to the neighboring states capital cities (IN FIRST CLASS) for under £50. We do have problems with out trains here but at least the cost is somewhat reasonable.

I wondered how they could get away with a £30 (or less) train ticket. Then I saw them charging £4 for a sandwich and £3.30 for _Malteasers._ I think I'll bring a pack lunch ta, Avanti.

Is Glasgow Central a though station?

Why can't train operators have a full hot food buffet car and do away with ordering via an app for those like me who don't own a smartphone or would not normally have my Laptop with me if a leisure trip. I do need some hot food on a long Journey as station fast food is rubbish food from rubbish fast food outlets. Also means one has to arrive at station at least 30 minutes before departure of one's train to allow time to buy and consume it, longer if station busy. Personal contact is important in this ever decreasing human contact world. Yes we did all moan about curly sandwiches at station buffets in British Railways/BR days and when run by BTH (British Transport Hotels, a division of British Railways) but that was an urban myth, the BTH run buffet cars and Stewards/Stewardesses were excellent, friendly and one could get a Guinness or a G&T with a real glass with one's egg on toast, fried, poached or scrambled, or toasted bacon sandwich on a china plate. Tea and coffee in a real cup and saucer. Service seems to be a naughty word nowadays. Full dining cars on many trains open to all but first class seated and served first. Late arrival or departure of trains not always the operators fault as timetabling is a nightmare on busy lines with multiple operators and one train running late or having a problem and delays escalate for following services.

Warning! do not ever travel with avanti west coast in the future be prepared for bare delays crew & driver shortages causing severe cancellations no excuses. Travel with award winning LNER.
