Hey Vee, We watch all of your videos and although I've been shooting pool for sixty years now [70 yrs old] I've never played league...just a pool hall junkie. If I make it down to Texas this coming year I'll look you up to shoot a few games. My dad was an old time hustler that taught me there was no good shot if it did not give you leave for the next shot and cue ball control is the key. Good video, man. P.S. @rodneynrivers OK, I saw what you wrote saying. Yes, I agree. Had he made it, it was the right shot. I guess I'm looking at from the standpoint of skill levels, tho. And how his opponent was shooting. But you're right. That was the right shot.
@procrastinator69027 күн бұрын
Right shot, just shot incorrectly. That was too much angle to try to hold that cue ball there. Had he just gone ahead and shot the ball firmly, he likely would have made it and had the cue ball in position to shoot the final ball into that same pocket.

Hey Vee, i really appreciate your shows and the time you put in to bringing them to us. I've been shooting pool for sixty years now and shoot every day now that I'm retired. Keep bringing the videos on...I like watching new players more than the professionals. My only advice to newer players is practice your shots to give yourselves leave. The next shot is more important than the one you are on if a player wants to learn to run out...all in time.

Bro - Work on getting the pocket side view on shots like that 1 ball (first rack). I like to aim for one side and go +- on the tip a bit. I like that you mentioned that later in the rack.

@OpusRex Dedinetly, I need to work on doing ti consistently. 🫡

That was a good convincing win altho, as you mentioned, it easily could have been a shut out win. You looked more focused and like you really had your mind on the games in this match. In the rack with the 5 ball hit...I think low outside right and just barely catching the right side of the 5 could have buried that cue ball behind the 8 and given him a really tough leave. And the shot you mentioned about running balls down the rail: From what I've seen, most people's mistake on that is follow thru. They follow thru pointing towards the pocket (where they want the ball to go) instead of straight. I always look at my contact point and when I shoot, follow thru like I'm trying to touch something beyond the table at the contact point. It really helps to keep the stroke straight and to pocket the ball

Thanks for another good video, Vee. This is an observation in general: I've noticed a a lot of players where I usually play will wear clothing or even jewelry that get in the way of a shot or at the very least can distract them from their best effort. It's bad enough when another player or waitress etc. bumps into you before a shot. lol
@RealAmateurPoolMatches20 күн бұрын
@robertkasch1944 Definetly don't need any distractions. As I am a fairly new player, only been shooting 2yrs, I just learned about sharking, I never really thought about standing by the table and how it's distracting, but now I know and give shooters their space.

The way you can tell what English to put on the center table cuts is simple, just look at the tangent line before deciding your English and that will tell you top or bottom but a smooth stroke is really important on those. Keep it up man, it’s cool watching people improve.
