247 has us at 32 in the composite ratings. That's not near a top 15 class. Mike Riley had a lot of high ranked visitors. Rhule needs to land these guys not just get them to visit.

Doubtful we get ranked highly in the ‘25 class - overall number of incoming recruits is a major factor in the ranking. We could be all 4-stars and still be ranked outside the top 25 in the overall ranking if the incoming numbers are low (as projected).

It’s everything, recruiting, development and retention…Rhule has been the most promising after year 1, only because we “see” culture change. Unlike Frost, we thought it would change…but only time will tell.

Exactly ! With the transfer portal like it is now days....never ever rag on a kid who might decide to go somewhere else....he might get there....find out Nebraska just felt better or had his best interest at heart , play one or 2 seasons and get hold of Coach and say.... "Hey Coach....any chance of me coming back to Nebraska ?" We welcome him home with open arms, he comes home and becomes an All American.....what does this say to recruits ?....see my point ?

This is where Nebraska can make hay ! And where I think way more emphasis should be placed for our future. Everybody knows that to win big and stay inside the top 10 in the country you have to have certain areas covered...both sides of the line should always be #1 in recruiting for a lot of good reasons ....you either find guys and have the right people to build and develop them or you recruit them....there just are no other ways to do it. You have a great offensive line it will make a average QB and receivers, running backs look like 5 star players. True talent comes from guys who no matter what kind of line the have to play behind....excell and still make the other guys look bad....

Rhule seams like he is more about connection and culture than stars. That being said it's good to have a few blue chips in a class to help peer recruit kids. I've seen 4*s never play a snap and I've seen 2* walkons start for most of their college career.

Fun fact: Tony White was the DB’s coach under Rocky Long, the first coach to effectively use the 3-3-5 defense. White’s now arguably the best 3-3-5 coach in the country, which means Evan Cooper has the same opportunity that Tony White had.

With Cooper being such a good recruiter and evaluator it does not make sense to make him DC. Coordinators do not really recruit in season as much as position coaches as they are more focused on game planning. He also would have less time to scout and evaluate. Makes little sense for Cooper to be DC as it limits his strengths.
@Hunter-dj9ld
@Hunter-dj9ld 7 күн бұрын
It really just comes down to what he wants. If he wants a DC job and he is qualified for the position, he is going to leave to take it. If it comes to that point, I’d rather promote him to DC. While he will have less opportunities to do some of the tasks you listed, coordinators still are involved and he will find a way to utilize his strengths.
@cb6045
@cb6045 7 күн бұрын
@@Hunter-dj9ld Ok but you promote him to DC then you likely lose Dvoracek or Knighton who want to be DC as well. It’s a balance and about who is best fitted for that position.
