Hey I just watched your video and I am inspired. I wanted to ask that can you apply for a training contract anytime, you don't necessarily have to wait until you do your cta?
@NoloPududu
@NoloPududu 8 ай бұрын
Hi Boitumelo, I remember back in my day (which is a loooooong time ago), they used to take students without CTA for articles (training contract), and I think the Auditor-General still does it (I stand corrected). So it probably still is possible with some firms, but it is a lot of work, so just make sure you are able to balance it all.

You can get credits for some of the modules you've done in financial management; it depends on your institution and the modules taken in the different courses. I think you should talk to student support for your faculty to find out how you can transition; many students have done it.

Hi guys, so there are some topics that are/ or I feel are completely new to me. So in doing questions should I go into the questions with my textbook and standards and learn my theory? To be honest, CTA needs full time. Working and cta is not advisable.
@NoloPududu
@NoloPududu Жыл бұрын
Hi Cathrine. In a perfect world, it would be ideal for everyone to get the opportunity to do CTA full time, but unfortunately for most people that’s not possible. But that doesn’t mean you can’t complete CTA, and do it well, while working. Yes, there are many people who fail CTA while working, but there are also many who fail while studying full time. Time is not the only factor in succeeding at CTA. In fact, the more important factor is HOW you use the time available to you, no matter how little you think it is. I’ve seen many full time students waste their time, and find themselves desperate at the end of the year. So whether you have 10 hours a week, or 40 hours a week, how well are you using those hours?
@NoloPududu

Question banks are intimidating though, its takes a lot of courage to do questions. Unisa CTA is even more tricky because of insane self study discipline that comes with it, we will see 2024. Thanks big time for the videos we really appreciate it.
@NoloPududu
@NoloPududu Жыл бұрын
True, it requires a lot of self discipline to study CTA, at any institution. But remember, self-discipline is not a study issue, or a CTA or UNISA issue, it’s a life issue. The only thing is that CTA exposes our lack of self discipline because it demands so much from us. But life requires even more. What I’m saying is, if you start prioritizing self discipline in your life in general, you start exercising that muscle and developing it. Then CTA becomes just another avenue for you to continue applying that same self disciple. By the 2024 rolls out, you’ll be ready to attack CTA👊🏾

Hi Nolo. Is it really worth it to study Financial accounting at age 29 through Unisa? Are they really considered in the the corporate world? Why did you choose academia? Not being a financial director or something. What have you learned about the field now that you are a CA?
@NoloPududu
@NoloPududu Жыл бұрын
Wow, you've got soooo many questions😅 1. Yes, it is worth it to study Financial Accounting through UNISA. Try not to let the noise in the media get to you, those are things beyond your control. I remember I did my degree 20 years ago, I'd still get condescending comments from people. So some things don't change. But your question is not complete, after studying financial accounting, what then? For the finance field you need to attach yourself to some sort of accreditation, for instance for financial accounting you have SAICA, SAIPA anN ACCA, IRBA for external audit, for internal audit you have IIA, for management accounting you have CIMA, for investment management there the CFA accreditation, and for tax you have SAIT. There are other professional bodies that I may not have mentioned. But my point is you need to identify which profession you want to be in, identify the professional body within that profession, and then work towards their criteria. That's what I did, I first wanted to be a CA, so that meant I had to look at SAICA's criteria, their qualification programme and which institutions offer an accredited SAICA programme, and yes, UNISA was one of those institutions. In finance, a degree without professional accreditation makes it very hard for you to get your foot in the door. 2. Yes, UNISA is considered in the corporate world. 3. I chose academia because I love teaching, it's my calling. I also enjoy getting into the technical stuff, reading, researching, so it was a natural home for me. I'm very happy doing what I do, but I love the fact that the students I teach will probably be finance directors one day, and I have what it takes to equip them to be successful at that. 4. Oh wow, what have I learnt? There is so much, not enough room for it in these comments. One thing I can say, I'm glad I chose to be a CA, it still remains a powerful qualification that gives you the key to so many doors. And yes, you are 29 now. In 6 years you'll be 35. You get to decide if you will have a qualification by then or not, 29 is not too late ❤

@NoloPududu
@NoloPududu Жыл бұрын
Hi Nomthandazo, I'm so glad you are finding the content helpful. Remember, most of us have felt exactly the way you are feeling during CTA. But don't allow feelings of discouragement to get to you. For instance, you've identified that you need to work on your exam technique, take some time out to see exactly what it is in "exam technique" you need to improve. Because the truth is, there are some areas that you are coping well in, even though you need to improve in others. So your power is in the specifics. What exactly is it that you need to improve on. When it comes to time management, what exactly is it that you need to work on, what is that actual SPECIFIC problem. When you identify the specifics, you will realise that things are not ALL BAD, yes there is room for improvement, but you are not starting at zero. So don't allow yourself to be de-motivated, keep pushing.

Hey Lusanda, it sucks period! Having to do it all over again, afraid that you won’t make it. It’s horrible. But you need to become clinical about it. The truth is, many people have done it, and they aren’t any more special than you. So you need to be honest with yourself and ask yourself where you are going wrong. Honest introspection will take you a LONG way. The fact that you qualified to write the exam means that you are MORE THAN CAPABLE to pass it, there are just a few blindspots you are missing. Once you take care of those, you will pass it. It’s not a luck game, it’s a strategy game. Get the right strategy, speak to the right people to help you with your developmental areas, implement good exam techniques, and YOU WILL PASS.
