I bought a 5DS R and at first hated it, a pig of a thing, but once I learned about it,the only downfalls are low top iso and slow fps, however all is not lost, in good light this camera is insane, I grew to love it so much I bought a 5DS to run with it. I had a couple of complaints from clients that the 5DS R was too sharp on models, so no longer use it on them unless my clients ask. Best camera in the world? Yes, would I have another? Yes.

In the old days the lower iso with film the sharper the negative. In digital is your cameras lowest iso setting the sharpest pixel image for your camera?

I'm super late; I like the first one the energy and the second one for the pace. However, I really like the second one. It seemed more intriguing.

thanks for this video, i'm trying to do better with the 35mm for story telling instead of zoomed in and bokeh everything. the last advice is great, super glue the 35mm lens and just shoot with it

He did a great job of half way liking the camera without taking a dump on it. He surely praises it, but if you listen closely, its just an ok camera to him. I'm here because I just bought a used one that I'm picking up from Adorama in 4 hours lol

"Proximity", "Psychology of Lenses", "Objective - psychology of impartiality" Longer lens - observe from a distance and let viewer decide what they are seeing / thinking in the shot. Shorter lens - the photographer tells their story. Great summation. Lots to think about. I've been looking for a lens / style that would allow me to show the viewer what I experienced at a place and time... to actually put them there. We all live events and meet people at a place, at time, a view, with an arm's length immediacy. I think the wide lens comes closest to actually being there. I saw another video where the presenters describe the 24mm lens as the "lens of honesty", and that sort of gets at the same idea. Thanks for the lesson and the thoughts.

This is the best video that I've seen about the 5DS/R. After a lot of research, I just picked up a used one. I have a Phase One for my main shoots and an EOS R for casual shooting. Although, I was so used to the Phase One quality that EOS kind of left a lot to be desired in certain settings... Kind of like you mentioned with zooming into a group and the difference in detail you get on people when shooting 50mp vs. a lower resolution. I also don't have the intention of dropping $4k on the R5, so a used 5DS seemed fairly reasonable.
@rickjbradbury4 жыл бұрын
Added a 5DsR to my kit last year and so far love it. Looking to add a 5Ds as a high resolution backup when I can. Great files. Yet to move to MF but hoping to one day. Got to shoot a Phase a few times and they are amazing but not for all kinds of work though. The EOS R5 is a silly amount of money to spend on a FF camera so I agree on that point for sure.
@corbinwesler39854 жыл бұрын
@@rickjbradbury I definitely agree that MF is not for all kinds of work. I only use it for certain types of portraits and my fashion photography. Since writing my original comment, I hired a second shooter for a wedding and he owns the R5. After seeing the images and what the camera is capable of, I can easily justify the the $4k. Not necessarily because of the resolution (which is great, but 45-50mp on FF is far different than 40-50mp on MF), but the thing that caught my attention was its ability to handle high ISO. One the EOS R, I start to see noise at 1600 ISO, and feel safe going up to 3,200 ISO with Topaz Labs DeNoise AI. Anything after that is a little iffy. The R5 is completely clear at 5000-6400 ISO, and has minimal noise at 10,000 ISO. Also, that IBIS is a beast... I would love to see the day when MF has IBIS.

Great video and insights on telling a story with a lens. I love the 35mm but then I found the 40mm and I’m in love with it. If you have used the 40mm, I would love to hear your thoughts on it.
